Pea masks may seem unexpected to many, but the use of this popular legume is completely natural, because home skin care products include almost all products of plant origin. And if a sauerkraut mask is known as "Parisian", then a pea face mask has long been called "Roman".

Benefits of Peas for Skin

What are the benefits of peas for the skin? In that this seed pea contains starch and almost 2.5% ash, which contains copper, manganese, molybdenum, cobalt, iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus. In addition, beta-carotene, vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, E and K were found in peas.

Vitamins in combination with zinc counteract inflammation and the action of free radicals - so that the skin remains healthy, smooth and elastic. Vitamin B3 helps the skin stay moisturized, relieves irritation and improves its color; vitamin B5 stimulates metabolism in epidermal cells; vitamin B6 relieves skin irritation and itching; B12 is known for its regenerating properties; vitamin A helps reduce wrinkles and age spots, and vitamin C protects epidermal cells from peroxidation and thus slows down its aging.

Peas also contain a set of amino acids, including cystine, lysine, tryptophan, arginine and methionine, and green peas also contain choline and inositol. The active plant extract Pisum Sativum (Pea) Extract, obtained from the pea peel, contains a specific phenolic antienzyme complex that suppresses the action of proteases, which activate skin aging and inhibit the synthesis of collagen and elastin in the epidermis.

Thanks to this, peas in face masks not only deeply cleanse pores and increase the moisture level of the skin, but also give the skin firmness and elasticity.

Pea Face Mask Recipes

What's good about peas for home cosmetic procedures is their availability and versatility. That is, the simplest, but very effective pea face mask is prepared by mixing two tablespoons of pea flour with a small amount of warm water (the flour is obtained by grinding regular dry peas in a coffee grinder).

The resulting thick mixture is applied to the skin of the face in a thick layer, left for about 20 minutes and washed off with warm water (and rinsed with cool water). This mask is very popular with American women, and they consider it an indispensable remedy for skin that is no longer very young…

If you suffer from skin problems such as irritation or itching, this mask will help you too. There is even a ready-made mask for oily acne-prone skin (with pustular and rosacea) with green pea flour - Green Pea Purifying 3D Mask. Its regular use helps to cleanse pores of excess sebum, prevent clogged pores and provide sufficient skin hydration.

A pea mask for wrinkles is also very easy to make: add a teaspoon of sour cream to a mixture of pea flour and water, and if your skin is very dry, add the same amount of olive oil. And if your skin is oily, you need to take either low-fat sour cream or low-fat kefir.

A face mask made from peas and milk is suitable for combination skin. And pea flour from dried green peas mixed with olive oil (in a 2:1 ratio) is an excellent remedy for increasing the elasticity of dry skin in mature women.

Masks made from fresh young peas, which are ground in a blender and combined with the same ingredients, are useful.

Finally, we have reached the aforementioned Roman mask: they say that it was made by the beauties of Ancient Rome two thousand years ago... Their reviews of pea face masks, alas, have not survived, but the recipe for this classic mask has reached us. To prepare it, you need to combine green pea flour with milk whey in a 1:1 ratio and apply the resulting mass to your face. Keep the mask on until it dries completely, and then wash it off with water.

In India, women have perfected the recipe for this pea mask, and every bride makes it before her wedding ceremony. We reveal the secret ingredients of this magical remedy: pea flour (two tablespoons) should be mixed with turmeric (a tablespoon) and almond oil to form a paste.
