One of the first to enter the human body are bifidobacteria. The intestinal microflora is approximately 85% composed of these substances, which perform such functions:
- Take part in the digestion of food.
- Prevent the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms, forming an acidic intestinal environment.
- Improve the absorption of vitamins and increase their synthesis.
- Prevent intoxication processes.
- Stimulate the functioning of lymphocytes as well as the synthesis of immunoglobulins, interferons and cytokines.
- Increase intestinal peristalsis.
- Involved in the metabolic processes of cholesterol and bile acids.
Bifidobacteria contribute to the development of beneficial microflora of the GI organs. If the child is breastfed, then already on the 3-4 day of lactation, his stool contains almost all monocultures. The first wave of microorganisms accelerates the maturation of the mucosal barrier of the large intestine. [1]
If useful bacteria are insufficient, it leads to the development of dysbacteriosis, infectious processes, liquid stools, frequent regurgitation and pronounced intestinal spasms. To treat painful symptoms, special preparations with bifidobacteria are used. From colic in newborns can be prescribed such remedies:
Acylact
Dry probiotic preparation, contains live acidophilic lactobacilli. It is active against pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms. Improves metabolic processes, contributes to the restoration of a healthy immune system, maintains optimal pH. It has a wide range of applications, used in gastroenterological, dental and gynecological practice.
Acylact helps with acute intestinal infections, colitis, enterocolitis, food intoxication, flatulence, constipation. It is available in the form of lyophilizate for the preparation of a solution for topical and oral use.
Bifidumbacterin
Dried microbial mass of live bifidobacteria. Has antibacterial properties against a wide range of pathogens. Restores intestinal microflora, normalizes the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, has an immunomodulatory effect.
It is used in acute intestinal infections, dysbacteriosis, prolonged intestinal dysfunction, for children during breastfeeding or artificial feeding. Newborns are given the drug from the first days of life 1-2 doses 2-3 times a day in the form of oral suspension.
Lactobacillus
Lyophilizate of live lactobacilli. It has a broad antibacterial effect. Restores intestinal microflora, normalizes the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Used in acute intestinal infections, intestinal dysbacteriosis, enterocolitis and other lesions of the digestive system. The dry substance in ampoules is diluted with warm boiled water or milk at a rate of 1:1. The drug is taken orally before feeding. Duration of treatment from 2-6 weeks to 2 months.
Linex
Preparation with live lactic acid lyophilized bacteria: Lactobacillus acidophillus, Bifidobacterium infantis, Streptococcus faecium. Restores normal intestinal microflora, has an antidiarrheal effect. Used for dysbacteriosis of various etiologies, diarrhea, flatulence, gastroenterocolitis. Newborns are given 2 capsules 3 times a day, dissolving their contents in milk or water. Duration of treatment depends on the severity of the painful condition.
Bifiform
Biologically active supplement with pronounced immunologic properties. It contains the following components: bifidobacteria 10.75 mg, enterococci 17.2 mg. Lactic acid bacteria restore normal intestinal microflora, metabolize lactose, reduce gas formation in the intestine.
- Indications for use: restoration of intestinal microflora in diarrhea, the state after long-term antibiotics, nutritional disorders, intestinal colic in infants, patients with lactose intolerance.
- Method of administration and dosage: for infants and children under 2 years of age, 0.5 g once a day with meals. For patients older than 2 years, 2 capsules twice a day. Duration of treatment 10-21 days.
- Contraindications: individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
- Side effects: hypersensitivity reactions. No cases of overdose have been recorded. If 2-3 days after the beginning of treatment in the feces appears blood or body temperature rises, then you should stop taking the drug and consult your doctor. Bifiform is allowed during pregnancy and lactation.
- During treatment, it should be taken into account that lactic acid bacteria are sensitive to some antibacterial agents. When conducting complex therapy, there should be a time interval of 1-2 hours between the intake of drugs.
Bifiform is available as a 6.9 mg oil solution and as capsules for oral administration.
