Cranberry for children is a colossal source of nutrients that strengthens children's immunity and improves metabolic processes in the body. If parents want their child healthy, they need to introduce cranberries into the autumn-winter diet of the child (preferably in fresh form or in the form of unvaried fresh fruit berries).
Some sources recommend using cranberries in a child's diet, starting from six months - in the form of fruit drinks and compotes. Other experts believe that any dishes and drinks from cranberries should not be given to babies before the age of three.
How to act, parents should decide on their own, trying to introduce the berries in the form of a drink and in small doses. If there is no allergy, then the baby can be safely given up to a glass of cranberry compote or fruit juice a day. Just prepare these drinks with honey (add to warm or cooled liquid) and clean water.
In cranberry puree it is also better to add honey, because sugar causes a decrease in immunity, and also worsens the absorption of calcium in the body. This is not at all permissible things, as a child needs calcium in large quantities and for everything: teeth, bones, hair, nails and so on.
Cranberry for children under one year old
Do not enter cranberries in the diet of a baby up to six months. Because the berry has an intense red color, due to the presence of certain substances that can cause the child allergic reactions.
In fresh form, for example, as a berry puree, cranberries should not be given to babies until they are one year old. And in this case you need to be careful. If the child is allergic to other brightly colored vegetables and fruits, the cranberry should be given in small doses and with caution.
The best form of using cranberries in the children's menu is in the form of berry fruit and fruit compotes. And, first you need to prepare a small amount of drink, and give the child a teaspoon. If there are no allergic reactions within 24 hours, you can let the baby drink a tablespoon (or two) of liquid. And again to observe the state of the child.
In the absence of manifestations of allergy, you can safely introduce cranberry drinks into the daily ration of the baby. The main thing is to observe the measure and give the child a cranberry drink in the amount of about half a glass a day.
It should be recalled that the prepared fruit and fruit compotes of cranberries should be on clean water and with the addition of honey (and not sugar).
Cranberries for children of up to a year are an invaluable storehouse of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that will allow the baby to grow strong and healthy.
