Technical progress, having many advantages, also has a downside. This is very noticeable in the eyesight example. TV, computer, tablet can present a "surprise" by damaging your eyesight. Ecology, which has long been a global problem, has a negative effect. Long exposure to the sun without protective glasses harms your eyesight. Lack of sleep and disrupted sleep patterns have an effect. There may come a time when you can no longer ignore the decrease in visual acuity. Treatment is required, often complex and radical. Although you could simply monitor your eye health, not discount healthy foods for your eyesight, introducing them into your diet.
Healthy foods for vision
Healthy products for vision will help prevent a decrease in visual acuity, postpone glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. They are available to everyone: not exotic and inexpensive.
Just a few years ago, blueberries would have been a must-have in the ranking of such products. They are still on the list today: their effect remains unchanged. But studies have shown that blueberries are inferior to green and yellow vegetables and fruits. They contain a large amount of carotene, zeaxanthin and lutein, pigments that actively support eye health.
At home, products necessary for vision can be consumed raw or after heat treatment. In the first case, vitamins are preserved in vegetables and fruits to the maximum. And in processed form, they are easier to digest.
When choosing certain products, you need to know what vitamins they are a source of. Vitamins C, B, D, E and microelements such as calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, fluorine, phosphorus, copper, zinc and iron are necessary to maintain good vision.
Products to improve vision
If the work is associated with eye strain and, accordingly, with their fatigue, products are recommended to improve vision and relieve stress. In first place is parsley and carrot juice. A month-long course is recommended: in the morning, on an empty stomach, you need to drink a glass of fresh juice. Those suffering from myopia should include pumpkin and hawthorn in their diet. To maintain the strength and elasticity of the eye vessels, eat rose hips and apricots in any form - from juice to dried fruits. Glaucoma and cataracts will be "slowed down" for a long time by one tablespoon of parsley juice daily.
Pumpkin deserves attention: it is generous with carotene. Soups, porridges and purees are prepared from it. It makes excellent pumpkin porridge, soup and puree. And raw pumpkin added to a salad will give the dish a twist, and a tasty twist.
Products for visual acuity
Almost all vegetables and fruits are useful. But there are products for visual acuity, the effect of which has been convincingly proven. Onions and garlic, which are most often added to salads, first and second courses, promote visual acuity, restore clarity: this is ensured by the sulfur they contain.
Carrots, which contain many vitamins, including vitamin A and beta-carotene, also improve visual acuity. Carrots can be used in the daily diet, varying dishes. A salad made from them, seasoned with sour cream, is very useful. Or stewed carrots with cream: this improves the fat solubility of carotene.
Blueberries, which have already been mentioned, also contribute to visual acuity and reduce eye fatigue. They contain a lot of vitamins B1 and C, and have the pigment lutein. Blueberries are also universal in this indicator: they are useful in jam and preserves, fresh and frozen.
Products that are good for a child's vision
To protect a child from eye disease, his diet should be as healthy as possible. First of all, enriched with vitamins. Most of them are in vegetables and fruits. And it is not at all necessary that they be imported. It is much more important that the products that are useful for a child's vision are ecologically clean. They should be consumed fresh, boiled, baked, as dried fruits.
- There should be pumpkin on the table – a storehouse of vitamins and nutrients necessary for the eyes. Pumpkin contains lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc and vitamins B1, B2, C, A.

- Spinach, which contains lutein, successfully combats cataracts. It is rightfully considered an effective preventative measure against the disease.
- Everyone knows about the benefits of onions and garlic, and everyone actively uses them. These vegetables are irreplaceable for the eyes: they are saturated with sulfur and therefore maintain visual acuity.
- Broccoli, blueberries and carrots are also very useful. They contain a lot of vitamins and lutein.
- Peaches, grapes and oranges, which are very rich in vitamins, are excellent preventatives for eye diseases.
- To strengthen and not destroy the cornea, flavonoids are needed. They are found in chocolate.
- Reliable assistants in the fight against eye diseases are cottage cheese and fish. Cottage cheese contains riboflavin - vitamin B2. With its help, the process of metabolism occurs in the cornea and its lens.
- Fish and fish oil are sources of essential fatty acids. They help to create a barrier against macular degeneration. This is especially true for salmon, sardines and mackerel.
From early childhood, the child's diet should also include eggs, preferably quail eggs. If they do not cause allergies, the child should eat eggs as an independent dish. How many times a week, it is better to consult a pediatrician on this matter.
Products that are harmful to vision
It has long been proven that not every food can be useful. If we talk about eye disease and how to prevent the disease, we need to know which products are harmful to vision.
Bread comes first. In the West, scientists advocate a minimum amount of bread in the daily diet. Their studies have confirmed that bread can provoke the development of myopia. It's all about refined starch present in baked goods. It causes an increase in insulin, which provokes myopia. At the same time, there is a reduction in protein - a negative effect on the eyeball.
Then – carbohydrates, which are abundant in fast foods and similar products. The modern pace in big cities, when home-cooked meals are becoming a rarity, has caused the spread of so-called “fast food” in megalopolises. This is the widespread sale of fast foods, pastries, cakes, pies, etc. Rice, typical of Asia, has also begun to displace, along with pasta, vegetables and fruits.
Excess carbohydrates are especially dangerous for those who have passed the 40-year mark. At this age, carbohydrate overload becomes a springboard for the development of blindness. An alternative to carbohydrates is needed: constant consumption of green vegetables and reduction of flour and pasta products in your diet.
There is not much to say about the harm of alcohol: it destroys not only the nervous system, almost all internal organs, but also causes eye disease. Ophthalmologists talk about alcohol intoxication, which negatively affects vision: chronic alcoholics can have atrophy of the optic nerve. This is the result of the fact that the nerve tissue has been poisoned. The cerebral cortex is also poisoned.
Cataracts and salt are a proven tandem. Excessive salt consumption prevents the body from removing moisture, which for the eye is expressed in increased intraocular pressure.
Coffee lovers also need to limit their consumption to avoid eye disease in the future. The caffeine in coffee increases intraocular pressure, which is a "green light" for glaucoma.
And finally, preservatives and stabilizers. Responsible manufacturers honestly mark chips, crackers, chewing gum, drinks and juices with a long shelf life with a special code "E" and a number. This is an indicator that it is better not to eat them or to do so very rarely. These products are harmful to vision: they can change the normal composition of eye tissue.
