Fasting on the water refers to health-improving diets, when all food is banned, and water is allowed in sufficient quantities. It can be practiced on a cascade basis, that is, combine with long periods of normal nutrition.

Bragg personally practiced his technique, perhaps, that is why he was alert and active in his advanced years. For a year he managed to get hungry for 75 days. Bragg believed that this is enough to restore, pancreas, kidneys, digestive organs in general.
Fasting on the water according to Bragg suggests seclusion outside the city, combined with a moderately active lifestyle. For drinking, the author advises distilled water, which does not contain harmful compounds, and does not recommend the use of cleansing enemas. Particular emphasis is placed on the correct completion of the process. Preference - 7-10-day fasting.
- During a 7-day hunger strike, the patient is allowed to drink purified water with honey and lemon juice (5 g and 10 ml, respectively). This drink cleans and nourishes the body of the starving.
During the period of abstinence from solid food, the digestive organs decrease in size, so it is necessary to go delicately to the daily routine. The output begins at noon the last day; in the food prepare 4 tomatoes, cut and poured with boiling water, they are chewed until complete grinding.

The longest is fasting on the water for 40 days. For such a period there are changes on the physical and mental level. The acidity of the blood shifts, as evidenced by the sharp odor of acetone.
- At the beginning of the second week of fasting on the water, there comes the so-called acidotic crisis, that is, the maximum acidification of blood. In a biochemical sense, during a crisis, ketone bodies are used to create amino acids.
After the crisis, the picture changes for the better - until the onset of comfort and harmony. This is due to a new way of eating - involving the body's own resources. The previously discomfort that disappeared disappears, the processes of purification and renewal of the body are activated, the person experiences a push of energy. Headaches disappear without a trace, the smell from the mouth and the desire to eat, sleep is normalized.
However, there is one "but": if the restructuring is delayed and lasts more than 10-12 days, then something in the body went wrong. This situation requires urgent medical intervention and, possibly, hospitalization (if the hunger is outside the clinic).
