The diagnosis of "pancreatitis" is associated with many gastronomic restrictions, as it is a lesion of the pancreatic tissue caused by inflammation of the organ. Its function is to produce pancreatic juice containing digestive enzymes necessary for digestion. A failure in this system is fraught with attacks of acute pancreatitis, which are characterized by girdle pain, fever, nausea, vomiting. Chronic course of the disease also does not pass without pain, belching, heartburn, bloating. The pathology with its manifestations does not allow ignoring food restrictions, forces you to carefully select products that are not capable of harm. In which row are harmless and beloved by all cucumbers for pancreatitis?
Can you eat cucumbers if you have pancreatitis?
Let us stipulate right away that the acute stage of pancreatitis is treated with fasting and involves a strict diet, excluding any fruits and vegetables. And only at the stage of stable remission, cucumber is gradually introduced into the patient's diet. First, in small portions grated on a coarse grater, as the condition improves - in slices of peeled vegetable. In the chronic course of the disease, to the question of whether cucumbers are allowed with pancreatitis, gastroenterologists confidently answer "Yes".
Cucumbers for cholecystitis and pancreatitis
Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder, accompanied by bile stagnation and poor absorption of fats. Often these diseases are companions. The gallbladder, like the pancreas, are equal participants in the digestive process and problems with one entail a failure of the other. The manifestations also overlap. An important aspect of their treatment is diet. Cucumbers for cholecystitis and pancreatitis have the right to be present in the menu, with the exception of periods of exacerbation.
Cucumbers for gastritis and pancreatitis
Improper, unhealthy and untimely nutrition, stress, smoking, alcohol, high acidity, infectious pathogens - this is an incomplete list of reasons leading to inflammation of the gastric mucosa. These same factors have an adverse effect on the condition of the pancreas. The main condition of treatment is to reduce the load on the digestive organs. This task is assigned to a diet that would take into account the "interests" of each. For gastritis, vegetables in cooked form (boiled, steamed, baked) are suitable, with the exception of a small amount of ripe sweet tomatoes. Therefore, cucumbers for gastritis in combination with pancreatitis are undesirable, since a large amount of hydrochloric acid is required for their digestion.
Benefits
Cucumbers are 95% water, so they are not very useful. However, they contain vitamins A, C, group B, microelements (potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iodine, iron), fiber. They provide a diuretic, choleretic effect, improve the motility of the gastrointestinal tract, remove toxins, cholesterol, relieve inflammation of the pancreas, normalize cellular metabolism. All these characteristics apply to fresh cucumbers. It is best to eat those grown in your own garden. This way you can be sure of their quality and freshness.
Pickled and marinated cucumbers should not be consumed with pancreatitis. Although vinegar and citric acid are not used in pickling, they release their own, which can provoke an attack of pancreatitis. In addition, salt, spices, horseradish, and garlic are used in pickles, which will not benefit the pancreas and other organs of the gastrointestinal tract. Pickled cucumbers can cause an exacerbation with a single use: they irritate the mucous membrane, provoke increased secretion of digestive juices and enzymes.
A small portion of cucumber and tomato salad a couple of times a week is allowed during persistent remission. It should be prepared before eating, be sure to peel it, you can add dill, parsley, lightly season with high-quality vegetable oil, preferably olive oil. Do not store the remaining dish in the refrigerator to finish it later.
Complications
Digestive tract diseases are always associated with the risk of exacerbations, which often directly depend on food. It is difficult to predict what you will “not like” from the permitted products, because the same harmless cucumber may turn out to be nitrate. Therefore, it is important to listen to your body and record changes in it. Possible complications are associated with bloating, flatulence, diarrhea.
