According to statistics, approximately 80% of people on the globe are susceptible to gastritis of various etiologies. The disease requires a gentle diet, excluding spicy, smoked, fried foods. Much attention is paid to the rules of nutrition, but the drinking regime is also very important. Questions arise, what to drink, how much water to drink with gastritis, what kind and at what temperature?
How much water should you drink if you have gastritis?
Experts say that a healthy person should drink up to 2 liters of water per day. For some, this is too much, while others can easily handle this amount. Everything is very individual and, first of all, you need to listen to your body. In the case of gastritis, the main rule is to drink moderately and half an hour before meals. This will fill the stomach and not overload it with food. The quality of drinking water varies. It is advisable to boil tap water and bottled water in glass containers. Plastic bottles may contain the chemical bisphenol and boiling will make the contents toxic, so it is best to refuse such packaging.
Water on an empty stomach for gastritis
To reduce acidity, water should be drunk on an empty stomach 1.5-2 hours before meals three times a day. A single serving can be up to one and a half glasses, but it is best to start with a quarter, gradually accustoming the stomach to the procedure. The water should be warm - 45ºС. Reduced acidity requires a different scheme: 15-30 minutes before meals, room temperature, in the same doses.
Is it possible to drink mineral water if you have gastritis?
Mineral waters, the sources of which are underground, have long been studied by scientists for their composition and usefulness for the body. They were given a high rating. The unique chemical composition, numerous minerals have a beneficial therapeutic effect on humans, remove toxins and slags, increase immunity, activate enzymes, restore water-alkaline balance, strengthen bones and tooth enamel, relieve inflammation, normalize weight, improve condition, increase tone. The main task is to choose the right water, because it is different and is classified depending on the type of ions in its composition: alkaline, sulfate, chloride, ferrous and magnetic. Due to the different proportions of acid and metal compounds, the following are distinguished:
- table water - with a low mineral content (1-2 g/liter), everyone can drink it and cook food from it;
- medicinal table water - more saturated with minerals (1-10 g/liter), it is used for treatment or simply drunk for a short time;
- medicinal - highly mineralized (over 10 g/liter), not suitable for continuous use, but only in courses for medicinal purposes.
Is it possible to drink mineral waters with gastritis? The answer is definitely "yes". It is a recognized remedy, often prescribed in combination with other therapeutic agents, and serves as an effective preventive method.
Water for gastritis with high acidity
For gastritis with increased acidity, mineral waters that inhibit the synthesis of hydrochloric acid are suitable. Such waters include alkaline medicinal table water and fresh table water with a large amount of hydrocarbonates and metal ions. They suppress hydrogen ions involved in the production of acid. As a result of water treatment, nausea passes, heartburn disappears, the pH level is normalized, gastric motility improves, congestion is eliminated, and with them belching, heaviness in the stomach go away, the blood is saturated with microelements necessary for the body. Such waters include:
- "Borjomi" - of volcanic origin, from the deep layers of the globe, enriched with many useful substances. It improves digestion, removes toxins, has a laxative effect, eliminates heartburn;
- "Polyana Kvasova" - is characterized by a high content of mineral salts (11-13 g per liter), natural carbon dioxide;
- "Bukovynskaya" - low mineralization (1.1-1.2 g), but it contains a large amount of iodine, recommended for normal and high acidity.
What mineral water can you drink if you have gastritis?
In order to determine what water to drink for gastritis, you need to undergo an examination and establish the correct diagnosis. Based on its results, the doctor gives a prescription taking into account all the individual characteristics of the body, which contains recommendations: what water is suitable, its temperature, volume, intake scheme and duration of treatment. The most significant beneficial effect of mineral water is obtained in hydrotherapy centers, where the regularity of its intake is observed against the background of diet, the absence of physical and nervous overstrain. The selection of the right water is carried out depending on acid formation. Insufficient secretion of hydrochloric acid requires sodium chloride types, and excess - alkaline.
Essentuki water for gastritis
Natural mineral drinking water "Essentuki" - medicinal table water of medium mineralization stimulates the secretion of hydrochloric acid by the parietal cells of the stomach. It is prescribed for gastritis with low acidity. Its chemical composition includes calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, sulfate, bicarbonate, chloride, boric acid, dissolved carbon dioxide. The therapeutic effect of "Essentuki" water lies in its beneficial effect on the gastric mucosa, with its help the mucus formed during inflammation is eliminated, metabolism is improved, and bowel function is normalized. Its peculiarity is that when heated to 45-50 0 C it slows down the motility of the stomach, and when cool it stimulates digestion. The average course of treatment lasts 4-6 weeks.
Water with lemon for gastritis
Lemon has many healing properties due to the high content of vitamins C, A, B, flavonoids, phytoncides, a large number of acids: citric, malic, succinic, ascorbic. It is because of them that the fruit is contraindicated in gastritis with increased secretion of gastric juice, but will be useful in hypocidal gastritis, since it activates the digestive process. In any case, it is unacceptable during an exacerbation. Many people drink water with lemon on an empty stomach, but in case of inflammation of the gastric mucosa, it is not recommended to drink it before meals and no more than 1 glass per day.
Water with honey for gastritis
Honey has been used to treat gastritis since ancient times. This bee product is able to maintain an alkaline balance due to the presence of alkaline mineral salts in it. They help purify the blood, restore the internal walls of the stomach due to protective mucus, normalize the secretory function, and generally improve digestive processes. Dark varieties of honey are more suitable for treating the stomach. To achieve tangible results, you need to know how to use it correctly. For effective therapy, honey is diluted in plain or mineralized still water. Hyperacid gastritis requires a water temperature of 42-45 0 C, hypoacid gastritis - cool. Otherwise, the scheme is no different from taking regular liquid, described above.
Carbonated water for gastritis
Despite all the benefits of mineral water, carbonated water can irritate the mucous membrane, which is completely harmful in case of its inflammation, so it is not suitable for gastritis. Natural water is most often non-carbonated. When buying carbonated water, you need to first pour it into a glass and let it sit for the gases to come out and only then drink it
