Diagnosis of pancreatitis makes you have a special approach to your diet, because it largely depends on the well-being of the patient. At the same time, many food restrictions are reduced to insufficient intake into the body necessary for its functioning of useful substances, which are abundant in fruits. But are they all suitable for nutrition in inflammation of the pancreas and are there apples in this list?
What fruits can be eaten with pancreatitis?
The role of the organ is to produce pancreatic juice, which is necessary for the breakdown and digestion of food. When it enters the stomach, the secretion flows through the connecting duct into the small intestine. Its task is to neutralize the effect of hydrochloric acid of gastric juice, to process the food lump with enzymes, to help absorb everything necessary in the walls of the intestine. Pancreatitis occurs when the outflow of digestive juice is disturbed, it lingers in the pancreas and begins to digest its own tissues. Therefore, nutrition in the disease should be such that it is released as little as possible.
When inflammation of the pancreas can eat fruits with a low level of acidity, without a tough skin (fiber is difficult to digest), not too sugary (the sick organ is not able to produce insulin to process glucose into energy). They include ripe and soft fruits:
- apricot;
- cherries;
- peach;
- pears;
- plums;
- pineapples;
- tangerines;
- bananas;
- pineapples
- persimmons.
Can apples be eaten with pancreatitis?
Apples are also included in the list of allowed fruits, but with regard to the phase of the disease, their variety and structure. In the acute state, this issue is not even considered, and with its stabilization, gradually introduced first heat-treated fruit, pureed, as part of compotes and sours, and then fresh.
In chronic pancreatitis in remission should also be careful: refuse sour, hard varieties, the skin is better to peel, eat them not on an empty stomach, in the amount of 1-2 pieces a day.
Cholecystitis is a frequent companion of pancreatitis. It is characterized by stagnation of bile in the gallbladder. An important element in the treatment of the disease is also diet. Both pathologies have the same dietary table number 5, so that the inclusion of fruit in the diet, including apples, does not contradict the diet in pancreatitis.
Benefits
The benefits of apples are beyond doubt, and their availability allows you to take full advantage of it. Information about the chemical composition of the fruit states that their value is available:
- fiber;
- pectin;
- carotene;
- sugars;
- folic and organic acids;
- vitamins: A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, P, K, PP;
- many trace elements: potassium, iron, phosphorus, iodine and others;

It is believed to be a defense against Alzheimer's disease, an effective means to reduce cholesterol, weight, prevent cancer, strengthen the immune and cardiovascular systems, improve digestion, cleanse the liver. They are good for avitaminosis and anemia, have a disinfectant effect. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]
Baked apples
Although heat treatment deprives some vitamins, it is much better digested by the body. Baked apples in the oven or microwave are just what an inflamed pancreas needs, and they are also a delicious dessert. It is not for nothing that they are recommended during the rehabilitation period after an outbreak, unlike raw.
Raw apples in pancreatitis enter the menu selectively and much later, when stabilized well-being. Do not recommend red varieties, sour and very sweet. Winter ones, suitable for long-term storage, are too hard. To avoid undesirable influences, it is best to bake them.
Apple compote for pancreatitis
In the acute phase of inflammation of the pancreas compote of apples is shown not earlier than the 4th day of the disease. It is prepared from fresh fruit without the addition of sugar, not very concentrated. Before taking it is strained through a sieve, so that the fibers of the fruit do not get, although they are soft. A more stable state allows you to eat boiled apples as well.
Chronic course of the disease in the absence of exacerbations allows you to drink compote from dried apples, the so-called uzvar. Drying the fruit makes it possible to preserve most of their beneficial properties. You can even just eat dried slices, they will not put excessive strain on the organ, but will contribute to a gentle cleansing of the intestine.
Soaked apples for pancreatitis.
This method of preparing the fruit was invented by our ancestors and it is successfully used until now. Soaked apples are delicious, long stored and contain the full range of useful substances. But, unfortunately, they are unacceptable in this disease, and all because of the technology of their preparation. It involves the use of sugar, spices, salt, as well as a long period of fermentation. Having undergone fermentation, they are ready only after 2 months.
Applesauce for pancreatitis.
Making mashed potatoes is a great way to prepare apples from your garden for the winter. Especially for this purpose is suitable for white filling. It is not stored for a long time and quickly comes off, but the fruit is soft and sweet.
To get a homogeneous mass, it is best to peel them from the peel, remove the middle and cut them into pieces. The dish is kept on the fire until the mass becomes homogeneous, and the color is slightly yellow. Sugar can not be added at all or limited to 200g per kilogram of apples. Ready mashed potatoes are laid out in sterilized jars and hermetically sealed.
The soft consistency of the product will not harm the diseased organ, but you should not get too carried away, because it can cause increased gas formation.
Store fruit purees are better not to use, they were probably prepared with preservatives.
Possible risks
Having a diagnosis of "pancreatitis" it is necessary to very meticulously study all recommendations on nutrition and try to follow them. If the pancreas begins to ache after apples, it is likely that they cause an exacerbation. Such complications are possible. What to do? Stop eating them, resort to a stricter diet, and after the subsidence gradually return to the menu apples, first baked, then a little bit and raw and be sure to monitor the reaction.
