Ascorbic acid, which is also often found in sparkling water, in combination with sodium benzoate contributes to the formation of a carcinogen, due to which cancer can develop.

Dentists also add from themselves - from the carbonated drinks is the destruction of tooth enamel, caries can develop faster. As you know, a pregnant woman is already prone to these problems due to the increased consumption of trace elements such as calcium and fluorine - they are used by the expectant mother to build bones and form teeth in the baby. Therefore, if you drink sweet sparkling water during pregnancy, the risk that the enamel will deteriorate even faster is high.

Sparkling mineral water during pregnancy

Is it possible to drink carbonated mineral water during pregnancy - another pressing question. Everything related to the effect on the body of carbon dioxide (the effect of soda), described above, when a pregnant woman drinks carbonated mineral water, it acts in the same way as in the case of carbonated sugary drinks.

If we talk about the properties of mineral carbonated water, then its feature is the presence of salts - sodium-potassium and chloride. Potassium and sodium are trace elements that contribute to many processes in the human body: the conduction of excitation through the nerve fibers, the metabolism in the cells. But chlorides are the salt base, which attracts water. Because of this, when consuming chlorine-containing mineral water, there is a high probability that the blood pressure of a pregnant woman will increase, as well as swelling.

Summing up, we can say that the ideal option for a pregnant woman and the most useful for both mother and future baby would be the use of non-carbonated mineral water containing potassium, sodium and magnesium. When choosing a mineral water, a pregnant woman should carefully study the label for the content of trace elements in the water. As for carbonated beverages, it is better not to drink carbonated water during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Although, of course, a couple of sips of harm will not bring, if the desire is very great, given the nuances of "passionate" wishes in food and drinks from expectant mothers.
