The main rule of intimate relations while expecting a baby is patience and mutual attention of spouses. Partners will have to be more inventive, increasing the time of love foreplay. A woman, relying on her feelings, should play a leading role in choosing the best sexual positions (this is especially true for the late stages of pregnancy).
In the first months, preference should be given to caresses that satisfy the man, but do not bring the woman to orgasm, so as not to burden the uterus with excessive blood flow and contractile activity. Oral sex may be indicated for the wife during this period, provided that all the rules of oral hygiene are observed.
The joyful expectation of the baby together, showing attention to the physical and mental needs of your other half, a little sexual fantasy will make this time an unforgettable holiday of harmony and love.
Some recommendations on how to have sex during pregnancy:
- a man is expected to be tender, patient and attentive;
- provided there is no threat of miscarriage, the husband prepares the breasts for the feeding period by stimulating the nipples;
- During intercourse, pressure should not be applied to the woman's stomach/chest;
- sex during pregnancy should not be rushed, but it does involve experimentation (within reason);
- it would be appropriate to use pillows, various supports, etc.;
- there is no need to get hung up on achieving orgasm together;
- do not use vibrators, dildos or other intimate toys (clitoral stimulators may be an exception);
- On the usual days of menstruation, it is better to refrain from physical love, since during this period spontaneous abortion is possible.
When a woman does not even think about intimacy, and a man strongly desires physical love, it is better to resort to alternative methods of pleasure. This includes "coitus intra femora" - achieving orgasm by a man between closed female thighs and "coitus intra mammae" - achieving orgasm between a woman's breasts.
Sex Positions During Pregnancy
Intimate positions for a pregnant woman should be comfortable and safe, excluding pressure on the abdomen and chest. For example, the position with the man on top changes in one important detail - the husband rests on his straightened arms to avoid contact with the growing belly.
The "woman on top" position is optimal because the woman can independently vary the depth of penetration of the penis and her sensations while sitting, and the man's knees and thighs can serve as support for the woman. Moreover, the woman can be facing the man or with her back.
Sex positions during pregnancy should not cause discomfort to the expectant mother. When the belly increases significantly in size, it is appropriate to use a large number of pillows, various supports (the back of a chair or sofa). The position of lying on the side, when the partners are facing each other, relieves the load from the belly and uterus. The position on the side, when the woman is facing the man, allows the partner to partially support the partner's weight.
In case of intimacy on the knees, pillows that soften the pressure on the stomach will come in handy. The woman can lean on straight/semi-bent arms so that the stomach does not touch the bed.
The woman on her back position is acceptable if the man penetrates her from the side and the lady throws her legs over him or the woman lies on the edge of the bed and the man sits on his knees next to her. For greater comfort, you can put a pouf under the woman's straight legs.
Oral sex during pregnancy
A substitute form of sexual life during pregnancy is orogenital contact. Blowjob is a great way to satisfy your husband's sexual hunger throughout pregnancy. Moreover, swallowing sperm does not affect women's health or fetal development.
Not all men decide to perform cunnilingus on their pregnant wife, as the secretion of the female genital area changes – the volume of discharge increases, and the taste and smell become quite specific. A number of medical sources do not recommend oral caresses for a pregnant woman, as this can cause embolism (air entering the bloodstream) and death.
Oral sex during pregnancy requires compliance with all hygiene procedures, both on the part of the woman (regular washing) and on the part of the man. The fact is that in the oral cavity there is a cluster of yeast fungi that can cause thrush (vaginal candidiasis), especially in the presence of caries. That is why it is so important for a man to brush his teeth thoroughly. Herpes is transmitted in the same way.
Cunnilingus, as a form of achieving orgasmic uterine contractions, is prohibited in cases of threatened miscarriage. In other cases, married couples enjoy oral sex during pregnancy, without neglecting precautions.
Anal sex during pregnancy
It is not bad that both spouses enjoy intimate relations while expecting a baby. It is natural that future parents think about anal sex as a way to achieve a joint orgasm.
However, this method has its opponents, who are more numerous among women. Therefore, you should not try to convince a negatively minded spouse, let alone persuade her to alternative intercourse. It will not bring anything good.
If a married couple has practiced anal sex before pregnancy, it can become a substitute for the usual sexual contact. Many people think so, but the medical taboo on physical intimacy applies to any form of intimate relations that cause uterine contraction, i.e. orgasm.
Most couples try anal sex for the first time during pregnancy. This is explained by the fact that it most closely resembles vaginal contact. During pregnancy, a woman's tissues become more elastic, and penetration becomes less uncomfortable. And finally, a woman gets the maximum amount of pleasurable sensations due to the increased sensitivity of hemorrhoids.
It should be noted that this type of intercourse is recognized by gynecologists as the most dangerous. In their opinion, the risk of flora from the intestines entering the vagina increases, and this leads to difficult-to-treat colpitis. The restructuring of the female body's blood circulation often favors the growth of hemorrhoids, which are easily injured. As a result, bleeding and paraproctitis. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent unpleasant consequences in the form of injury and infection by using a condom and approved lubricants for pregnant women.
Unprotected sex during pregnancy
Seminal fluid contains the hormone prostaglandin, which has a beneficial effect on the cervix, improving its opening during labor. There have been cases where a doctor has recommended that a woman gently make love to her husband to intensify labor. This fact is the reason for using a condom in couples who are too young to give birth.
The mucous membrane of the genital tract of a pregnant woman becomes loose, susceptible to injury during intimacy, which in turn is fraught with the penetration of infection. When carrying a baby, the protective function of the vaginal flora is significantly reduced, the content of glycogen in the secretion increases (the ideal "soil" for the reproduction of microorganisms), menstruation (natural cleansing of the genital area) stops, so it is extremely undesirable to have unprotected sex during pregnancy.
A condom with lubricant will not only protect you from many health problems, but will also help you cope with a fairly common problem - a lack of natural lubrication in your partner.
Safe Sex During Pregnancy
Normal sexual intercourse is not always possible during pregnancy. This is usually due to medical prohibitions and increased vulnerability of the uterus. The term vulnerability is used to describe the excessive sensitivity of the epithelium to mechanical impact. The looser surface of the cervix may bleed after sex due to injury. The problem is that pathogenic microorganisms easily penetrate through the microcracks of the vagina, which can multiply and cause inflammation.
Future parents are required to be quite resourceful to satisfy the physical needs and maintain the health of the future mother and child. It is important to take into account not only personal desires, but also to exclude sexual positions that put pressure on the baby developing in the womb. Therefore, safe sex during pregnancy is sex using gentle positions and a condom, as a guarantee of maintaining pregnancy and an obstacle to pathogenic microbes.
Parents are also required to remember the rules of personal hygiene and timely consultation with an obstetrician-gynecologist. Of course, the concept of safety includes the absence of any infection that can be transmitted to the fetus (herpes, HIV, etc.). But this is already a matter of trust between partners.
