Everyone knows that corn is not only a tasty, but also a useful product with a multitude of vitamins and trace elements. Nevertheless, future mothers, too frightened by all sorts of restrictions and diets due to their "interesting position", are accustomed to questioning any products. So, is it possible to eat corn during pregnancy? The answer: not only it is possible, but also it is necessary.
We will tell you about the benefits of corn for pregnant women. However, without the pitfalls here, too, was not done.
Is it possible to eat corn during pregnancy?
Eating corn during pregnancy is a great way to improve digestion. Corn, first, helps the digestion process: it assists in digesting other foods, cleanses the intestines and slows down the processes of fermentation in the digestive tract. So in case of toxicosis, corn is perfect.
Another plus of using corn during pregnancy is the strengthening of the circulatory system. Regular use helps to strengthen blood vessels and good blood circulation. So do not be afraid to eat corn during pregnancy and lactation: after all, it is also good that it provides milk for the future mother.
Nevertheless, there are a number of contraindications to the use of corn during pregnancy. This applies to expectant mothers with increased blood coagulability (and a tendency to thrombosis), as well as with a stomach ulcer.
Many women are afraid to eat corn during pregnancy because of the risk that the product will be GMO. Therefore, it is worth repeating once again that genetically modified foods (though corn, even bay leaf) are completely harmless.
Benefits of corn in pregnancy
The benefits of consuming corn during pregnancy are huge. One of the secrets of the utility of corn is that when growing corn cobs do not accumulate any chemical substances. In other words, corn is always (well, almost always) environmentally friendly.
Magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium, zinc, iodine, iron - this is the list of trace elements that contains cob. There are also enough vitamins: A, E, H, B4. In short, there are not many products that are more useful than corn. At pregnancy - especially.
Starch, found in corn, helps the body build muscle fibers, which is also important for expectant mothers. Starch is also necessary for the nervous system. There is as much corn as possible during pregnancy is recommended when a future mother has problems with the liver and gallbladder. Corn grains contain pectins useful for the treatment of tumors. For a growing organism, porridge from corn is very useful. When pregnancy is almost always a toxicosis - here, too, will help corn. In short, solid pluses.
However, once again, recall that before eating corn during pregnancy, it is better to consult a doctor. If he does not find contraindications - safely eat.
Canned corn in pregnancy
Consumption of canned corn during pregnancy is a separate issue. On the one hand, any preservatives are undesirable for expectant mothers. At the same time, corn kernels, unlike, for example, green peas, almost do not lose useful properties during conservation.
Canned corn, incidentally, does not cause unpleasant bloating, in contrast to freshly prepared corn. At pregnancy and so there are enough unpleasant sensations in a digestive path, so canned corn quite can serve as replacement of fresh for those whom often "puchit".
In canned corn, there are far fewer calories than in fresh corn - but here you decide for yourself, plus this is for you or the minus. And, in fact, the minuses of canned corn are the same as those of fresh corn: it is contraindicated for ulcers and prone to thrombosis.
If you do not have such problems, then to forbid yourself to eat canned corn during pregnancy does not make sense. The main thing is not too much. Fresh is better anyway.
