Throughout the pregnancy, the expectant mother faces many ailments, the cause of which is the hormonal restructuring of the body and the increased load on it. Some of the problems are characteristic only of certain trimesters, some - for all 9 months. But not everything is so bad! Pregnancy is a natural state of a woman, and the complaints that arise can be successfully dealt with.
The following ailments are typical for the first trimester:
- Toxicosis. The good news is that by the end of the 12th week, most women completely forget about it. The methods for combating toxicosis in pregnant women are traditional: eat small portions but often; during bouts of nausea, drink acidified water or slowly chew biscuits. In principle, each expectant mother will eventually understand which method is best for her;
- Dizziness as a result of a sharp drop in blood pressure. Therefore, rise from a sitting or lying position slowly, without sudden movements;
- Frequent urination (this is also typical for the 3rd trimester). The growing uterus compresses the bladder, so try not to drink a lot of liquid at night.
The second trimester is “famous” for the following problems:
- Hemorrhoids - the pressure created by the baby's head causes the veins of the rectum to dilate. Prevention of hemorrhoids during pregnancy: avoid constipation, eat foods rich in fiber, try not to sit for long periods. In severe cases, consult a doctor to prescribe special suppositories or ointments;
- Stretch marks on the abdomen - appear when the elasticity of the skin decreases. To prevent their appearance, use special cosmetics;
- Excessive sweating - caused by hormonal changes and intense blood circulation. Try to wear clothes made only from natural materials.
In the third trimester, typical complaints are:
- Shortness of breath - the growing fetus presses on the diaphragm. About a month before birth, this problem will disappear. Another cause of shortness of breath can be anemia, so regularly monitor the level of hemoglobin in the blood;
- Edema. If they are not accompanied by high blood pressure or protein in the urine, it is okay. Just try to rest more and go on a salt-free diet. To prevent edema, as well as shortness of breath due to low hemoglobin levels, it is necessary to constantly monitor the indicators by taking tests for pregnant women in laboratories;
- Muscle spasms - often caused by a lack of calcium in the body. Consult a doctor in gynecological clinics;
- Heartburn - caused by a relaxed state of the valve at the entrance to the stomach. Eliminate fried and smoked foods from your diet, and in case of an attack - drink a third of a glass of warm Borjomi in small sips.
All 9 months are characterized by:
- Bleeding gums due to their softening. Brush your teeth with a special paste and a soft toothbrush;
- Constipation during pregnancy - the hormone progesterone has a relaxing effect on the intestinal muscles. Eat foods rich in fiber;
- Varicose veins. Avoid prolonged static positions and the habit of sitting with your legs crossed;
- Increased vaginal discharge due to hormonal changes in the body. Avoid using deodorized panty liners and see a doctor to rule out bacterial infections.
