A 9-month-old baby is a baby who strives for independence. He becomes a real fidget, no matter what he does, crawls, moves around the perimeter of the bed, or plays. He needs to learn everything, study everything and definitely try it to taste. The emotions of a nine-month-old baby are overflowing, if he laughs, then he infects everyone around him with laughter, if he cries, then as if a universal misfortune has happened.

He violently protests against food that is not tasty for him, can close his mouth and even cover it with his hand, he knows how to use his charm, smile and waits for an adequate reaction from adults. In a word, he is already a real little person - a copy of his parents. It is during this period that the formation of the baby's social skills continues, he must learn to understand and accept restrictions and permissions. Of course, total control and protection of the child from small household dangers will not lead to a positive result - the child can grow up weak-willed and fearful. However, permissiveness is also unacceptable. Parents need to learn to combine strictness, wisdom and understanding of the psychology of their growing baby. A 9-month-old child is a real "traveler" who explores the territory either crawling or moving along the perimeter along the walls. Therefore, in order not to limit his curiosity and activity, you need to remove possible obstacles, soften the corners with pillows, hide all sharp, piercing or dangerous for digestion objects away, preferably on the upper shelves. The baby already understands that mom does not disappear forever when she leaves the room, that food can be in the kitchen, and toys in a drawer or playpen, and not just in front of his eyes. Despite the desire for independence and autonomy, the child reacts sharply even to a minute separation from the mother, is more wary of strangers, unfamiliar people. At the age of nine months, a child of 9 months can independently refuse mother's milk or breast, from a pacifier. There is no need to worry about this, this is a normal phenomenon, however, if there is an opportunity to breastfeed, it is worth continuing feeding for at least two to three months. At nine months, the baby, as a rule, already has the first two teeth, often children at this age show four milk teeth.

9 month old child – growth, weight indicators, possible deviations from the norm

A nine-month-old child gains about 450-500 grams of weight and 1-1.5 centimeters in height. These figures may be less or more, it all depends on the previous dynamics of the increase in parameters. With each month, approaching the age of one year, the growth rate slows down. By nine months, the baby should weigh about 8-9 kilograms. An indicator of 10 kilograms and above can serve as a sign of paratrophy, excess weight. The affection of plump and well-fed babies on the part of relatives should not balance the risk of metabolic disorders and the risk of endocrine pathologies in the future. If excess weight is not evidence of persistent and persistent overfeeding of the child, perhaps its causes are the following factors:

  • Frequent respiratory problems, colds.
  • Intestinal infections.
  • Viral diseases.
  • Disruption of defecation, constipation.

In case of any deviations from the weight norms at the age of nine months, it is necessary to review the child's menu and diet together with the pediatrician. It may be necessary to replace too high-calorie products with more dietary ones or change the portion size.

As a rule, paratrophy is caused by mothers’ excessive passion for feeding their babies with jelly, semolina porridge, and sweet, rich juices.

9 month old baby – movement and communication

The baby is an active explorer of the territory, he enthusiastically tries to open all the doors of cabinets and nightstands, which, by the way, should not just be tightly closed, but literally "sealed" in any way to neutralize possible risks and problems in the form of torn documents or photographs. The child happily plays hide-and-seek with mom or dad, shows with his hands how big he is, enthusiastically looks at bright pictures in books, listens attentively to stories and fairy tales. The baby is able to sit down, lie down, get up with the help of his hands and move, holding on to walls or objects. The amazing desire to master bipedalism is simply amazing, a 9-month-old child falls countless times and still gets up and continues to try to walk. Such a desire should be encouraged by parents, because it is an indicator of endurance, determination and fortitude. If you stop the baby's attempts to achieve the goal, perhaps in adulthood he will give in to the first difficulties and hide from them. The child's vocabulary also expands every day. In addition to syllables, he can say meaningful words, most often these are "mama", "dai", "am". The child names many objects in his own way, in his own language. The baby also responds with pleasure to the pronunciation of the endings of poems and nursery rhymes. The child's speech should be practiced daily, the more often this happens, the better and more qualitatively his intellect develops. The child can understand the words "hello", "goodbye", reacts to them with movements and facial expressions. The famous children's "patty-cake" may have been passed long ago or, on the contrary, not mastered. There is no need to worry about this, the main thing is that the baby can bring his hands together and spread them back, imitating clapping. All "magpies-crows", as well as patty-cake - this is a tribute to tradition, nothing more. You can develop hand and finger movements in any other playful way.
