What to do if your child is crying and drooling a lot
In the fourth month of development, the child begins to salivate profusely. Some children drool like a stream. This is due to the fact that before this age, much less saliva was produced. Its function was to lubricate the oral cavity so that the child could more tightly grasp the mammary gland. From the age of four months, the child begins to produce more saliva, since the body is preparing to eat dry food. In addition, he simply does not know how to swallow his own saliva, so it flows from the mouth.
Along with the salivary glands, the lacrimal glands also begin to function more intensively. And if earlier tears were produced in small quantities, sufficient only to moisten the eyes, now they can be associated with emotions. Previously, the child cried without tears, but now, when he is upset, tears flow down his cheeks.

Starting from four months, the child should sleep freely in his crib. You can already put a small pillow under his head. The child should not sleep on the same side. It is not that he sleeps on the left side (this is bad for adults suffering from hypertension). For a small child, this does not matter (if he is healthy and does not have a congenital heart defect). But when he changes his body position during sleep (or you do this), then the congestion in the muscles that are in a compressed state passes.
Most babies find it more comfortable to sleep on their stomachs from birth, especially those who suffer from gas, as the pressure on the tummy provides some relief from the pain.
Newborns and children in the first 2 months of life wake up around 6 am, because it is time for them to eat. After eating, they fall asleep again. At 4-6 months, there is no longer a need to eat at this time. But if, starting from the newborn period, you have taught your child that with his first movement in the crib you jump up to him, depriving him of the opportunity to doze off again, then at one year and two years he will wake up before 7 am, preventing you from sleeping even on a day off. Although, perhaps, what is more important here is who your child is - an "early bird" or an "owl".
At five to six months, the child should no longer wake up at night. Due to the fact that his motor activity has increased significantly, he gets more tired in the evening, and the amount of food eaten in the evening allows him to sleep until 7-8 am. If he woke up and cried at night, you need to find out what is bothering him. One of the reasons for poor sleep is psychological discomfort in the family. If you quarrel and shout (at each other, at the child) - there can be no talk of any peaceful sleep! Control your emotions! And if you need to "let off steam", draw yourself a target measuring 20 x 20 cm. Stick it on the door (wood is slightly softer than a concrete wall) and sign below: "In case of a tantrum, hit your head here." If this happens - do so. They say it helps a lot! The next reason for poor sleep, even in older children, can be late active games. (Grandmas are right when they say: "Don't disturb your child before bed!"). And if you don't disturb him, but you have a noisy, cheerful company at home, sitting until midnight, this can also disrupt the baby's sleep. Well, the last reason is illness. If your child has a fever, stomach pain, cough, difficulty breathing - do not hesitate to call an ambulance - it is better to "be safe" than to miss appendicitis, meningitis or some other nasty thing!
