Henna is a dye of plant origin (the powder is prepared from dried leaves of Lawsonia). Henna was used in Eastern countries to apply a pattern to the body, however, due to its antiseptic and healing properties, henna has become a popular cosmetic product.

Henna fights dandruff well, it helps improve hair growth, its appearance, adds shine and volume to hair. A henna mask nourishes the scalp, eliminates itching, and strengthens the hair shaft.

However, in addition to the positive effect on the scalp and hair, colorless henna takes good care of the skin of the face, especially problematic (inflamed, prone to rashes) and aging skin.

How to make a henna mask?

There are many options for making henna masks, which, when combined with other nutritional components, act more effectively. The easiest way to make a mask: mix 15g of henna with 15-20 ml of hot water (tablespoon), after the mixture has cooled down a little, apply to the face for 10-15 minutes. To make a hair mask, you will need 100g of henna and 300ml of hot water.

A henna mask is recommended for increased oiliness of the skin, for skin nutrition and rejuvenation, cleansing, against acne. To increase the effect of the mask, before applying the mask, you need to prepare the skin: cleanse, apply a scrub, treat with a toner.

To prepare the mask, it is better to use plastic or glassware, since henna reacts with metal, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the cosmetic product.

Benefits of henna for skin

A henna mask, thanks to its invaluable chemical composition, is rightfully considered an effective cosmetic product:

  • chrysophanol - relieves pustular inflammation, has antifungal, antimicrobial effect
  • zeaxanthin - cleanses the skin
  • emodin – promotes tissue regeneration, removes inflammation
  • carotene – improves skin structure and color
  • betaine - softens the skin
  • physalen - soothes irritated skin
  • rutin – promotes oxygen supply, strengthens blood vessels

Colorless henna can provide the most effective and safe care for certain skin problems.

Henna Face Mask

A henna face mask is made from colorless henna powder, which does not contain coloring pigment. This mask is extremely safe and practically does not provoke allergic reactions.

The henna mask has almost no contraindications, however, before applying the mask, it is recommended to conduct a sensitivity test: apply a small amount of the prepared mixture of henna powder and water to the thinnest area of the skin - the wrist, the bend of the elbow, the area behind the ear (about 1 cm). If after about ten minutes there are no unpleasant sensations on the skin (tingling, burning, etc.), the skin at the site of application does not turn red, no red spots appear around, then the mask can be used without fear.

A henna-based mask is recommended for various skin problems: acne, pimples, inflammatory processes. Henna also helps restore skin elasticity, smooth out fine wrinkles, improve complexion, so it should be part of a comprehensive care for aging skin.

If the skin is oily, henna helps to normalize the sebaceous glands; if the skin is dry, a henna mask moisturizes and softens well.

These masks can also be used on normal skin to enrich it with nutrients and improve its color.

White Henna Mask

White henna is a natural lightening agent with fairly strong chemical components that color skin and hair in light shades.

White henna is usually used in cosmetology to lighten and improve skin color. A white henna mask makes the skin lighter, and also deeply cleanses, eliminates pustular inflammation, fungal infections of the skin.

You can prepare a white henna mask with either water or fermented milk products, diluting the powder 1:1 (kefir for oily skin, sour cream for dry skin). The mask is applied for 10 minutes, after the procedure it is recommended to moisturize the face with cream.

Hair masks with the addition of white henna are usually used for lightening or highlighting, but it is worth noting that, even considering the fact that henna is a natural product, it contains quite aggressive chemical components, so it can damage the hair structure and lead to brittleness and dryness.

Mask of henna, kefir and yolk

Henna has been used by women in the East for a long time to restore and maintain the beauty of hair. Thanks to its antibacterial, restorative, and strengthening properties, henna in a complex mask helps prevent hair loss and strengthen hair follicles. In addition, henna eliminates dandruff and prolongs the youth of hair, increases volume, and makes hair more manageable.

Kefir strengthens, nourishes, adds shine and softness to hair.

The yolk is a real vitamin cocktail for hair, as it contains a large number of nutrients and microelements (phosphorus, iron, calcium, vitamins B, A, E, etc.).

A mask made from henna, kefir, and yolk, thanks to the complex effect of its components, is a real salvation for damaged, weak, brittle hair.

For a mask for medium-length hair, you will need a pack of henna, a yolk (room temperature), 2-3 glasses of warm kefir.

After mixing all the ingredients and obtaining a homogeneous mass (if the mixture is too thick, you can dilute it with a few spoons of hot water), the mask is first applied to the roots, then distributed along the entire length, after which the head must be covered with a cellophane cap or film, wrapped in a warm scarf or towel (it is better to take an old one that you don’t mind ruining, since henna can stain).

After an hour (if possible, you can leave the mask on longer, for 2-3 hours), rinse your head with warm water, and then wash with shampoo and conditioner.

In case of severe hair loss, this mask should be done twice a week, after a month and a half, when the result appears, the mask can be done once a week for prevention.

A mask made of henna, kefir, and yolk restores damaged hair, makes hair thicker, eliminates dandruff, hair loss, split ends, and improves hair growth.

Henna mask for acne

Problem skin requires special care. There are many special products on the modern market that help care for this type of skin: they deeply cleanse, disinfect, and nourish.

It is also worth noting face masks made from natural ingredients, which help with various rashes, redness, pimples, etc. One of these folk remedies is a deep-action mask with henna and lemon juice, which cleanses well, destroys bacteria, tones the skin and smoothes out fine wrinkles.

To prepare the mask, you will need colorless henna powder (1-2 tbsp.) and lemon juice (can be replaced with lime juice) - you should get a mixture with a sour cream-like texture, after the foam begins to appear, the mixture should be left to sit for a few minutes, then mixed again and applied to a clean face (before applying the mask, it is advisable to slightly steam the skin). After 10 minutes, wash off the mixture with warm water.

Lemon juice has a lightening effect, so when applying the mask, avoid getting the mixture on your eyebrows.

A mask made from henna and lemon works well against pigmentation, freckles, and acne scars.

Mask of henna and honey

A mask made of henna and honey is recommended for various hair problems, in particular brittleness, hair loss, insufficient volume, and oily scalp.

Henna has a unique laminating effect on hair: it envelops it in a protective film, giving the hair a shimmering shine.

In addition, henna combined with honey helps get rid of split ends.

This mask is done once every two weeks to avoid overdrying the hair. The mask is applied to clean hair (when washing your hair, you should only use shampoo, as conditioner can reduce the effectiveness of henna). To prepare the mask, you will need 25-30 g of henna (the dosage depends on the length of the hair and can be selected individually), hot water (boiling water), honey.

Pour henna powder with water until a sour cream-like texture is formed, mix well and let it sit for 20-25 minutes (the container with the mask should be wrapped in a warm towel or scarf). Then add 1-2 tbsp. honey, mix and apply to hair, starting from the roots, then distribute over the entire length, cover your head with a plastic cap or film, wrap it in a warm scarf for 30-40 minutes.

Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water.

After washing off the mask, it is not recommended to wash your hair with shampoo; if necessary, you can use conditioner.

Henna and mustard mask

Mustard is a fairly common product that is included in home hair care products. Masks with mustard strengthen hair, improve growth and scalp condition, such masks are recommended for various hair problems: dullness, baldness, brittleness, etc.

Mustard masks increase blood flow to the scalp, which improves growth and prevents hair loss.

When using a mask with mustard, it is important to observe the dosage and exposure time in order to avoid irritation and burns (before applying such a mask, it is recommended to conduct a sensitivity test).

A mask made from henna and mustard helps strengthen hair and restore its natural shine and luster.

For the mask, you will need mustard powder and henna in equal quantities (3-4 tablespoons each), dilute with boiling water until the texture is like sour cream and let it brew for 10-15 minutes. If desired, you can add yolk, essential oil or honey.

Massage the hair roots well, apply the warm mixture to damp hair, put on a plastic cap and wrap your head with a warm scarf. After an hour, rinse your hair well with warm water.

Mask with gelatin and henna

A mask of henna and gelatin is a good alternative to the expensive hair lamination procedure. Weakened, thinned hair after masks with gelatin acquires a completely new look.

To prepare the mask, you will need to dilute 1 tbsp. gelatin in warm water, add the yolk, after 10-15 minutes add henna powder, mix well and apply to damp hair. Put a plastic cap on your head, wrap it in a warm scarf.

After 30-40 minutes, rinse your hair thoroughly under warm running water.

After just one procedure, your hair is noticeably transformed: it becomes thick, shiny and vibrant.

Benefits of henna for hair

Henna hair mask stops hair loss, strengthens hair follicles, and improves blood circulation in the scalp.

Regular use of hair care products with henna will help get rid of dandruff, improve the protective functions of the scalp, and eliminate itching and flaking.

Rinse the mixture with running warm water.

  • Strengthening mask with henna:

Hair masks from colorless henna

Systematic use of homemade masks with the addition of henna eliminates dandruff, itching, and allergic reactions.

A mask made from colorless henna allows you to do hair lamination yourself, the effect of which is not inferior to a salon procedure.

Henna coats the hair with a film and at the same time penetrates into the hair, helping to thicken and strengthen the hair from the inside, making the hair healthier, stronger and more manageable.

The easiest way to prepare a mask with the addition of colorless henna is to steam the powder with hot water (the proportions depend on the length of the hair and are selected individually, the finished mixture should have a sour cream-like consistency).

The mask is applied to washed and slightly dried hair for 45-90 minutes. For hair treatment, the procedure should be performed 2 times a week, after a month and a half, the mask can be used for prevention once a week.

To enhance the healing effect, you can add other ingredients to the mask (burdock oil, castor oil, lemon juice, egg, kefir, cottage cheese, etc.).

Hair mask with henna and kefir

A mask made from henna and kefir is recommended for weak hair lacking volume and vitality.

For the mask, you need to mix 30g of henna and half a glass of hot kefir, after 15-20 minutes distribute it over damp hair and leave it to act for about an hour under a plastic cap and a warm scarf.

Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water and wash with shampoo.

Masks for hair dyed with henna

A henna mask, not deprived of pigment, colors hair. The modern market offers henna for lightening, chestnut, black and red shades. However, coloring with henna is not durable and with each hair wash gradually washes off the hair. In addition, henna does not paint over gray hair and when first applied, unpredictable consequences are possible (coloring in green or purple), especially on hair after a perm or dyed with chemical paint (in this case, it is better to start doing henna masks after 2-3 months).

Henna gives hair a specific shade, which is extremely difficult to get rid of with regular use, however, this type of coloring allows you to maintain the health, strength and shine of your hair.

After dyeing with henna, it is not recommended to carry out chemical procedures with hair, dye with paints. Henna is a good therapeutic and preventive remedy for improving the condition of hair and scalp, so after dyeing hair with henna, additional care is usually not required.

Mask of basma and henna

Basma is a natural dye powder obtained from indigo leaves. The combination of basma and henna allows you to get the desired shade, however, the final result largely depends on the original color and condition of the hair.

For a bronze shade of hair, usually take 2 parts henna and 1 part basma, for chestnut - 3 parts henna and 1 part basma, for dark chestnut - basma and henna in equal proportions, for black - 1 part henna and 2 parts basma. Basma cannot be used for coloring separately, as a green tint to the hair is possible.

A mask made of henna and basma is a good treatment and preventive measure against hair loss, dandruff, dullness, etc. After such masks, you cannot wash your hair for 2-3 days; if the coloring result is too bright, washing your hair with lemon juice or vinegar will help wash off the color a little. After the mask, you cannot dye your hair or perform chemical procedures (curling, etc.).

A mask of henna and basma is an ancient eastern method of hair care. The procedure will help strengthen hair, stop hair loss, and improve the condition of hair.

When basma and henna (including colorless powder) are combined, hair is colored.

To prepare the mask, mix basma and henna powder 1:1 and dilute with boiling water to a sour cream-like texture. After 15 minutes, add an egg, 15 ml of burdock oil, 15 g of cocoa. Apply the mixture to dry hair, starting from the roots, then put on a plastic cap and wrap your head with a warm scarf. Rinse your hair after an hour, apply balm or hair conditioner. To maintain the color, repeat the procedure once a week; these proportions allow you to get a dark chestnut shade.
