Face masks have long been a favorite facial care procedure for women. Masks made from natural ingredients are simple, affordable and useful. With the help of such homemade masks, you can maintain the youth and beauty of your skin, as well as solve some cosmetic issues (acne, oiliness, peeling, etc.).
However, cosmetologists claim that if you have serious problems with your facial skin, you need to use professional products.
Professional face masks penetrate into the deep layers of the skin and regulate changes that occur with age, under the influence of external factors or chronic diseases.
The facial care program developed by specialists pays special attention to facial masks, which, first of all, work to restore the skin.
The modern cosmetics market divides face masks into two types: mass-market (available for sale and recommended for use at home) and professional (offered in beauty salons). However, there are professional masks that can be used independently, without seeking the help of a cosmetologist.
The professional series of face masks differ in composition and action: cleansing, tightening, anti-couperose, rejuvenating, whitening, anti-inflammatory. Often, one mask solves several cosmetic problems.
Professional alginate face masks
Alginate face masks were previously used only by professional cosmetologists in salons, but now such a mask is also available for independent use. The name of the mask comes from alginic acid - the main component of the mask, which is found only in sea brown algae.
When alginic acid interacts with water, it forms a gel-like mixture enriched with vitamins, minerals, and proteins, due to which professional face masks tighten the skin, nourish, activate metabolic processes in the skin, moisturize, and promote collagen production.
Alginate masks help with inflammation, increased sebum production and are suitable for any skin type.
There are several types of alginate masks:
- basic (without additives) are used to improve the condition of the skin, for inflammation, and also as an auxiliary agent to medical and cosmetic products (emulsions, serums, oils, etc.)
- Collagen rejuvenates and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles.
- with chitosan moisturize and have a pronounced tightening effect, restore cells, promote oxygen delivery (suitable for dry skin types)
- with vitamin C improve complexion, nourish, help eliminate pigmentation and reduce the appearance of age-related changes
- with herbs remove redness, rashes, nourish, deeply cleanse, moisturize, remove harmful substances.
Alginate masks can be freely purchased at a cosmetics store. Such masks are sold in the form of powder (for preparation it is necessary to dilute with water 1:1) or ready-made gel compositions.
When diluting the powder with water, the mixture must be mixed very thoroughly so that there are no lumps and immediately applied to clean skin of the face (it is better to treat eyelashes and eyebrows with a greasy cream). The mask must be applied to the face quickly, since it will completely harden in 5-6 minutes. As many women note, the problem with using alginate masks is precisely in the application; it is best to apply the mask lying down, which can cause difficulties and may require outside help.
In addition, alginate masks enhance the effect of other cosmetic products (essential oils, creams, serums, etc.), which are applied 10-15 minutes before applying the mask.
After hardening, the mask forms a dense film on the face, through which air or liquid does not penetrate. At the same time, the pressure created by the mask promotes deeper penetration of other products into the skin.
The mask is removed from the face (without washing!) after half an hour. After this, it is recommended to wipe the face with a toner or apply cream (if it was not applied under the mask).
After the first procedure, you can see some improvements, but alginate masks should be done in a course (from 1 to 4 times a week).
Professional Moisturizing Face Masks
Moisturizing professional face masks are used at the end of cosmetic procedures. Such masks are recommended after peeling, for irritated, aging, tired skin.
Moisturizing face masks contain extracts and infusions from plants, algae, essential minerals, coenzymes, etc.
Masks often contain hyaluronic acid, which helps moisturize the skin, saturates it with oxygen, and improves color.
Masks for increased sebum glands help remove redness, inflammation, even out skin tone, and eliminate oily shine. For dry or normal skin, moisturizing masks tighten and improve skin tone.
To achieve maximum effect, it is recommended to use moisturizing masks in a course (8-14 masks). The number of procedures per week depends on the condition and type of skin, age.
Professional Cleansing Face Masks
Cleansing professional face masks are recommended for oily skin, but cosmetologists recommend regular use of cleansing masks for any skin type.
As a rule, cleansers contain natural clay, minerals, vitamins, etc.
These masks deeply cleanse the skin, improve complexion, and eliminate skin inflammation.
Oily skin is prone to various rashes, inflammations, owners of oily skin have blackheads, oily shine, enlarged pores. Cleansing masks for oily skin will help normalize the sebaceous glands, cleanse pores, reduce inflammation, and dry out.
Dry skin is characterized by flaking, a feeling of tightness, and frequent irritations. Owners of dry skin face skin aging problems earlier than women with oily skin. Moisturizing masks help solve the problem of lack of moisture in the skin, improve complexion, and smooth out wrinkles.
Sensitive skin reacts very sharply to various external irritants: cold wind, frost, sun, etc. Often irritation on the face appears with a tendency to allergies. Moisturizing masks for sensitive skin contain natural oils with a delicate texture. Before applying the mask, it is not recommended to clean sensitive skin with scrubs or peels; to wash off the mask, you need to take water at room temperature. After the procedure, it is advisable to use a special cream.
