A clean face is not just a washed face. Neither water, nor lotions and other hygiene products provide real cleanliness, since they remove dirt only from the surface of the skin. Excess fat, comedones require a deeper impact, and today one of the best methods of such impact is considered to be manual facial cleansing.

Indications for the procedure

Clean skin that can breathe is a condition for its youth and well-groomed appearance. Manual facial cleansing has its pros and cons, but the effect is excellent, especially with increased oiliness of the skin. It is not for nothing that it was used by ancient Egyptians, perhaps even the famous beautiful queen.

The need for deep cleaning arises in cases where hardware methods do not work. The essence of cleaning is the mechanical removal of dirt, plugs, and pimples. Indications for the procedure:

  • comedones;
  • milia (white spots);
  • excess sebum;
  • non-inflammatory rashes;
  • boils;
  • visible defects;
  • general pollution.

Preparation

In order for manual facial cleansing to be as effective as possible, proper preparation is necessary. First of all, you should remove your makeup, or better yet, do not apply it at all that day. Makeup is removed with milk, gel or lotion. If the face is very dirty, apply a special mask or do a light peeling with acids of minimal concentration.

  • To open the pores, the face is steamed. Several methods are used: warm steam, thermogel or cold hydration. Steam is contraindicated if the skin is dry, with closely located vessels, and also in asthma.

The gel opens the pores and prevents dehydration. The face covered with the gel is covered with a film for about 20 minutes, then the peeling occurs. The skin cells swell, the connections between them are greatly weakened. The film is opened in stages so that the effect of the gel on the pores (up to 15 minutes) does not stop prematurely. While one area is being cleaned, the rest is under the film.

At the preparation stage, care is taken to ensure that the instruments are sterile clean. The so-called Uno spoon is used for the procedure. This is a special device for removing blackheads and other contaminants. At the end there is a perforated spatula, in the middle there is a depression for squeezing. There are modifications for both salon and home use.

By means of cleaning, many cosmetic problems are solved and prevented. The condition and appearance of the skin are significantly improved, the effect lasts for quite a long time. The convenience is that it can be done independently, at home.

Technique facial

The main thing in manual facial cleansing is to follow the technique and sterility. The manipulation is performed in stages, cleanliness is achieved by periodically wiping new areas of the skin and dipping the instrument into a disinfectant solution.

The instrument delicately removes fatty deposits, keratinization, comedones, squeezing out immature inflamed acne. They do not move chaotically, but along certain lines. This is how deep plugs are removed, among other things.

What does not yield to the spoon is squeezed out with hands treated with an antiseptic and wrapped in sterile gauze. Yellowish dirt with a black dot on top easily comes out. You should press along the excretory ducts - with the pads of your fingers, not with your nails, which can lead to the formation of scars.

Other tools are also used as needed - a spear or a needle to widen the sebaceous ducts. Finally, the entire area is disinfected. It is useful to finish with a mask that helps narrow the pores. After the procedure, it is recommended to spend at least half an hour in the room so that the skin has time to acquire a shade close to its natural color.

  • The home procedure is good because it allows you not to leave the house with a red face. In addition, it is not so painful.

In short, the procedure is the same: the skin is cleaned with a scrub, steamed with a steam bath of herbal infusions selected according to the skin type. Fingers wrapped in a bandage are moistened with hydrogen peroxide. After cleaning, a toner with alcohol and a moisturizing cream are used.

Experts advise not to delay the procedure, since the pores soon begin to close, and this makes it difficult to clean them. In case of severe inflammation, it is necessary to conduct several sessions, removing acne or comedones in stages and especially carefully observing sterility. Only with this approach can you avoid infection and related complications.

Ultrasonic and manual facial cleansing

In terms of price and popularity, ultrasonic and manual facial cleansing are almost equivalent. A salon specialist or a dermatologist you trust will tell you what to choose.

  • Ultrasonic facial cleaning is a safe modern method. The effect is manifested on several levels at once, dirt, fat, comedones, dead cells are cleaned.
  • Manual facial cleansing is performed with special tools and just by hand. Its advantages are reliability and reasonable price. It is recommended for severe acne.

It is worth emphasizing that it is impossible to cleanse your face on your own the way an experienced and competent specialist in a beauty salon can do it.

The patient receives both procedures in comfortable conditions, taking a comfortable position in a special chair. Manual manipulation may cause discomfort at times, but they are quite bearable. Ultrasound waves are not felt at all. There is no redness after them. Duration - from 20 minutes to an hour.

The rehabilitation period involves abstaining from solariums and water procedures (swimming pool, sauna) for several days. A cool shower is allowed. Staying in the sun without sunscreen, applying decorative cosmetics and all cosmetic procedures on the face are limited. This is a very small sacrifice to admire a rejuvenated reflection in the mirror, clean and healthy skin.

Contraindications to the procedure

Manual facial cleansing is not always indicated. A banal but significant contraindication is a low pain threshold, at which a person simply cannot withstand the discomfort associated with this procedure. Other contraindications for use:

  • inflammation, trauma, pathological damage to the face;
  • infection, herpes;
  • chronic pathologies of the dermis;
  • furunculosis;
  • demodicosis;
  • too dry skin;
  • menstruation;
  • hypertension;
  • blood diseases;
  • asthma;
  • vascular fragility.

Consequences after the procedure

The use of manual facial cleansing improves the appearance of any problem skin. The manipulation removes the keratinized epidermis, evens out and smoothes the dermis. The consequences after the procedure are obvious: clean pores are visually reduced, blackheads disappear forever. The structure of the dermis is optimized.

  • Slight swelling and hyperemia are temporary and soon disappear. After a few days, the hydrobalance is balanced, the face takes on a healthy appearance.

After about four days, the exfoliation of dead epidermal cells is activated. This is a natural process that leads to positive results, in particular, skin renewal.

But you can't expect a miracle from manual facial cleansing, for example, a solution to all skin problems. To eliminate inflammatory symptoms, severe rashes, acne, first of all, it is necessary to determine and eliminate their cause. And it can be associated with real diseases - metabolic disorders, slagging, low immunity, as well as external factors. Unfavorable factors must be eliminated, and diseases - cured.

  • To achieve the desired results, manual cleaning is best performed in the middle of the menstrual cycle.

At this time, the amount of estrogen in the body is quite high, due to which the pain sensations are dulled. There is also a connection between the skin type and the frequency of procedures. For dry skin, cleaning is recommended once a month, for normal skin - no more than 2, with a tendency to excess oiliness - up to 3 procedures per month.

Complications after the procedure

With increased sensitivity, complications after the procedure are possible, manifested by prolonged redness. Usually, it is provoked by mistakes or ignoring contraindications to manual facial cleansing. To eliminate redness, masks, compresses with medicinal plants, and medicinal ointments are made.

  • Normally, slight swelling persists for a day or two. To stimulate the removal of excess water, a specialist may prescribe diuretics.

With strong pressure or contraindications, hematomas are formed. They are eliminated with lotions of medicinal plants or heparin ointment. Aggressive manipulation can also lead to stretching of the skin, and naturally tight pores can remain enlarged.

  • If the rules of cleanliness are violated, the face becomes inflamed. In such cases, doctors recommend drying and disinfection, ointments with antibiotics, etc.

Excessive pressure on the face can lead to scarring. As a rule, this does not happen in a salon, scarring is possible with improperly organized home manipulation.

Allergy is possible during and after cleaning. It is eliminated with the help of antihistamines.

If you use products that are not suitable for your skin type, this can lead to long-term peeling. Intensive daily moisturizing and stopping using alcohol-containing cosmetics can cure your skin.

Care after the procedure

An important place is given to post-procedure care, which is carried out outside the salon. In the evening after manual facial cleansing, lotion is used, and then the usual cream at night. In the following days, soothing, pore-tightening, disinfectant preparations or procedures are indicated. Thick masks with clay on mineral water, thermal water for washing, cosmetics with aloe are effective.

To speed up the recovery process, ointments, masks, cold compresses with a plant base are used. If healing is necessary, use Bepanten cream. D'Arsonval, infrared radiation, cryomassage are recommended. The result will be normalization of the hydrobalance, a healthy and beautiful appearance of the face.

  • During the recovery period, gyms, swimming pools, saunas, baths, and beach holidays are prohibited.

Touching your face is only allowed with fingers treated with antiseptic. A sufficient amount of moisturizing cream will prevent drying out.

Regular cosmetics can be used after complete recovery. It is especially important to refrain from using them during the first 12 hours, when the pores are not completely closed and there is a high risk of infection. It is unacceptable to dye eyebrows and eyelashes or apply makeup during this time.

Reviews

There are only positive reviews about manual facial cleansing. For many, the procedure helped completely get rid of annoying comedones and acne. Only some find it painful, but most become regular visitors to salons after the first cleansing, where they discover related cosmetic procedures. Those with oily skin are especially pleased, as they are convinced that regular cleansing effectively improves its condition.

Almost all young people face the problem of acne and pimples during puberty. Usually they go away on their own. At an older age, problems arise that require qualified medical intervention. Manual facial cleansing is one of the simple ways to eliminate skin defects that are not associated with systemic diseases.
