Every woman dreams of having a well-groomed face. To thoroughly cleanse the pores, improve the appearance of the skin and make the skin silky, it is recommended to perform chemical peeling of the face. With the help of such a cosmetic procedure, the dead layer of the skin is exfoliated due to the action of specially selected chemicals, most often acids.

Indications for the procedure

If you are concerned about your face being too oily and constantly shiny, then chemical peeling will be a real salvation in your case. Even girls with dry skin often have unpleasant-looking blackheads that are quite difficult to get rid of. This happens due to the improper functioning of the sebaceous glands. And chemical peeling is just right for those who want to improve the condition of their skin not only on the outside, but also on the inside.

The main indications for chemical peeling of facial skin are:

  1. Prevention of skin aging.
  2. To correct the main signs of aging.
  3. For dull, flabby and sluggish skin.
  4. For enlarged pores and oily skin.
  5. To remove the effects of acne.

Preparation

Preparation for chemical peeling of the skin of the face is one of the most important stages of this procedure. At this point, the specialist must determine how deep the peeling should be. If the preparation was carried out incorrectly, the result may not only be less effective, but also negative. That is why the skin must be adapted to the effect of the acid that was chosen before peeling.

So, during preparation, the skin on the face is wiped with a special cleansing milk or gel. Only after the skin is completely dry can you begin to apply the acid.

Technique facial

The basic procedure for cleaning the skin with chemical peeling is carried out in two stages. A mask of the fruit acid chosen by the cosmetologist is applied to the cleansed and dried face. As a rule, such masks may contain retinoic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid or pyruvic acid. First, a minimal amount of the agent is used to open the pores on the skin of the face.

Next, the cosmetologist uses glycolic acid in a more concentrated form. The main task of this mask is to completely dissolve the "sebaceous plugs" that accumulate in the sebaceous glands and their ducts. It also helps to get rid of comedones and remove the dead layer of the epidermis.

At the very end, a special moisturizing mask is applied to the face, which helps to tighten pores and speed up their recovery.

Chemical peeling

There are several types of chemical peeling depending on the substance used during the procedure:

  1. Glycolic acid cleansing.
  2. Peeling with salicylic acid.
  3. Peeling using fruit acids.

They act essentially the same, but if you have dry skin, then it is best for you to opt for peeling with salicylic acid, thanks to which the “pushing out” of sebaceous plugs will take place for sensitive skin without consequences. If you have normal or oily skin, then chemical peeling with glycolic acid will suit you better, which first warms up the skin, and then “stretches” the pores and completely cleanses them from fat.

Chemical face cleaning at home

Chemical peeling of the skin of the face can be done at home, but for this you can only use special masks with fruit acids (citric, lactic or malic). It is very important to consult with your cosmetologist before using such a product, and also carefully study the attached instructions.

Before performing a chemical peeling at home, you must first test your body's sensitivity to the substances in the mask. If there is no allergic reaction or other contraindications, you can proceed to the procedure itself.

The product should be carefully distributed over the entire surface of the skin of the face to avoid possible burns. Before peeling, do not forget to cleanse the skin with your favorite cleansing tonic or milk. If during the procedure you feel a tingling or burning sensation at the site of application of the mask, it should be immediately washed off with warm water and a special compress should be made (tincture of succession).

You can use chemical face peeling masks at home no more than once every ten days. For several days after the procedure, try not to go out in the sun and do not use decorative cosmetics. When buying a peeling product, pay attention to its composition. It must contain the following substances: phytic acid, azelaic acid, vitamin C.

There are also several recipes for home chemical peeling. For example, the following is quite popular: take 40 g of dry bodyagi and make a powder from it. Add two tablespoons of this powder to a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and mix well. It is important that the mixture becomes creamy.

If you have oily skin, steam your face thoroughly before applying. Otherwise, simply blot it with a damp, warm terry towel and dry. Lubricate your lips, eyebrows, and skin around your eyes with Vaseline and massage the resulting product onto your skin with a cotton pad. Wait 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. Dry your skin. Apply moisturizer if necessary.

Chemical facial peeling during pregnancy

Chemical peels with low acid concentrations are not contraindicated during pregnancy, but it is best to consult with an obstetrician-gynecologist before performing them. More intensive procedures, in particular those performed in beauty salons, are prohibited for pregnant women, as they may cause pigment spots or unexpected skin reactions. It is also worth noting that some types of peels have a teratogenic effect on the fetus (for example, retinoid-based cleansing).

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of chemical facial peeling is the painlessness of the procedure. The skin is not injured, so there are usually no serious complications after this process. When using fruit acids, the recovery period lasts a minimum amount of time. Many patients have no traces of chemical peeling on their faces the next day. In addition, such facial peeling can give not only a quick, but also a fairly long-lasting result.

Unfortunately, this procedure has its drawbacks. Firstly, the acid cannot penetrate deeply enough into the skin. Even though the skin will become smooth and shiny on top, pimples and old marks on it will not disappear. Chemical peeling does not remove wrinkles, scars, deep scars and strong pigmentation.

Contraindications to the procedure

Despite the fact that chemical facial peeling is a virtually painless and sometimes even pleasant procedure, it is not suitable for everyone. If you have keloid scars or signs of any dermatological disease, including herpes rashes, chemical peeling is prohibited in your case. Also, before the procedure, it is worth determining whether you are allergic to the main substances that will be used by the cosmetologist. It is not recommended to carry out this procedure if you have burns or open wounds on the skin.

Consequences after the procedure

Most often, the following complications occur after peeling:

  1. Erythema.
  2. Peeling of the skin.
  3. Swelling of the skin.
  4. Darkening or pigmentation of the skin.
  5. Skin hypersensitivity.

As a rule, such consequences do not entail any serious consequences, as they occur only on the first or second day after the procedure and go away on their own.

Care after the procedure

After chemical peeling, it is very important to properly care for your skin. With the help of special moisturizers, you can significantly reduce the severity of immediate reactions that occur in almost everyone. In the first few days after chemical peeling, it is necessary to use all kinds of gels and foams that are easy to apply to the skin, do not need to be rubbed in and are quickly absorbed. Starting from the third day, you can use creams.

Thanks to moisturizing agents, you can significantly reduce skin tightness, improve epithelialization, and reduce the risk of scars. The best means during this period are considered to be preparations based on hyaluronic acid, which have a hydrating effect.
