Oxygenotherapy (oxygen therapy, needleless oxime-therapy) is a modern technique for saturating the surface layers of the epidermis with oxygen fed not to the skin under pressure in a concentrated form. To ensure normal processes of the vital activity of the skin, it must receive a sufficient amount of glucose, amino acids, fatty acids, and oxygen. In the case of a lack of the latter, metabolic reactions proceeding along the oxidative type (glycolysis, etc.) are slowed down. In addition, the lack of oxygen in the skin causes the accumulation in the cells of intermediate products of unfinished chemical reactions. The search for new methods of oxygenation and nourishment of the skin has been and remains relevant for giving cosmetology.
The ideal method of delivery of oxygen and active drugs must meet the following requirements: the stratum corneum of the epidermis is not damaged, the active ingredients penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin in which the drug depot is formed, which ensures a longer duration and gradual effect.
An interesting technique of oxygenation came to cosmetology from classical medicine. Based on a technology that has been used for more than 30 years for insulin injections and vaccinations, in 1994 the German naturopath Lothar Bode developed a new way of introducing cosmetic preparations into the deep layers of the epidermis using compressed oxygen.
Oxygen is a unique substance used in medicine externally, orally, in the form of inhalants, in pure form and in the form of solutions. This diversity allows us to recommend oxygen for a variety of nosology, while choosing the most effective and safe options. At present, practically all methods are designed to produce oxygen from the ambient air using concentrators, while the inconveniences and risks associated with the use of balloon oxygen disappear.
Features of the action
It is known that oxygen is capable of performing the following functions:
- Stimulates microcirculation of tissues and metabolism in cells
- Strengthens the regeneration of tissues.
- Strengthens antibacterial and immune skin protection
- It is used in the prevention and treatment of acne.
- Restores the complexion.
Oxygen has a complex beneficial effect on the body (with inhalation):
- Strengthens immunity.
- Reduces pressure.
- Normalizes sleep
- Reduces tension.
- Normalizes metabolism.
Oxygenotherapy method
A cosmetic preparation is applied to the surface of the skin (a suitable or not suitable preparation for oxygen therapy is largely determined by the characteristics of the composition of the preparations), which can be introduced into the skin through oxygen. The drugs should be hypoallergenic, which, naturally, is associated with the safety of the technique, low-molecular, which affects the rate of absorption, and at the same time have antioxidant activity, which is necessary due to the high degree of mitochondrial activity of keratinocytes of damaged epidermis. It is also necessary to combine the convenience of form and the stability of the chemical composition of the preparation (the issue of quality of production). Then, from a special tip in the pulsed mode, oxygen enters the skin surface at a pressure of about 2 atmospheres (this value was found to be optimal as a result of numerous experiments). The gas "pushes" the cosmetic molecules through the intercellular spaces and allows them to reach deep layers of the epidermis, where they are most useful. Oxygen, used for cosmetic preparations deep into the skin, is captured by a special concentrator from the surrounding air. The air is drawn in and cleaned in a series of filters (including using ultraviolet). At the exit from the concentrator, a gas mixture is obtained, consisting of 98% oxygen.
It has been confirmed that oxygen therapy accelerates the penetration of active substances into the epidermis (in 2-14 minutes they penetrate to the same depth as for 1 hour with simple application to the skin). Modern devices for oxygen therapy have additional capabilities, such as oxygen irrigation, oxygen inhalation, microdermabrasion regime.
Oxygen irrigation ("oxy-spray")
This method is completely analogous to the above, except that it is carried out without the use of cosmetic preparations and without contact with the skin. Oxyspray is effective in cases when it is necessary to stimulate regeneration processes: for example, after microdermabrasion, aggressive peeling, plastic surgery and some dermatological diseases.
Oxygen inhalations (inhalation oxygen therapy) is the inhalation of air enriched with oxygen. The procedures are carried out with sessions of 10-60 minutes (at intervals of 20 minutes to several hours). It is possible to perform oxygen inhalations both independently and in combination with other techniques, for example, aromatherapy. Pure oxygen stimulates metabolic processes in the body, and selected aromatic oils act on an emotional-psychological level. The procedure is straightforward: a respiratory mask is applied to the face of the patient from which the mixture enters. It is advisable to prescribe oxygen inhalations for injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, overwork, chronic stress, trophic ulcers, burns, intoxications, long-term non-healing wounds, damage to the oral mucosa and other conditions.
Oxygen microdermabrasion
Oxygen in the flow of crystals provides gentle peeling, reduces the likelihood of side effects, has a pronounced antibacterial, regenerating and metabolic effect
Indications:
- "Stressful" skin;
- smoker's skin;
- Mature skin;
- prevention and treatment of signs of skin aging;
- hyperpigmentation;
- acne;
Alternative methods: mesotherapy, phonophoresis, electrophoresis, microcurrent therapy.
Advantages of the method:
- absence of pain;
- comfort procedure;
- absence of damage to the skin (non-invasive method);
- wide range of indications;
- combination with other hardware techniques (microcurrent therapy, vacuum techniques, microdermabrasion)
