Virtually everything that has been drunk or eaten by a nursing mother is found in breast milk, and then in the baby's body. Therefore, it is very important for a woman to carefully monitor her diet and fill it with only healthy food and drinks. Perhaps there is no such mother who would not have guessed about the dangers of alcohol - both during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, many ask the question: should alcohol be completely excluded, or can it be limited only by its use? In small doses, alcohol and breastfeeding are compatible?
Scientists have already conducted quite a lot of research, which has proved that alcohol and breastfeeding are a very dangerous combination, as it threatens the fragile health of the baby. The danger of alcohol during breastfeeding is determined by the age of the baby, the weight of the nursing mother, the amount of alcohol consumed and its strength, and also whether the woman used food along with an alcoholic beverage.
- Children's liver is very vulnerable: up to 3 months of age, the liver neutralizes alcohol 50% slower than it does in an adult, and up to 6 months of age - by 25% slower.
- The higher the body weight of a nursing mother, the faster the alcohol is neutralized in her body.
- The larger the volume of alcohol in breast feeding the mother will take, the longer it will be removed from the circulation. Accordingly, the stronger the alcoholic beverage consumed, the longer it will leave the body.
- If, on the background of drinking alcohol, a woman consumes food, then the absorption of alcohols in the intestines will be somewhat lowered.
Alcohol during breastfeeding unimpededly enters the mother's milk. The limiting concentration of alcoholic alcohols in the blood is observed after half an hour or an hour after taking alcohol on an empty stomach, or an hour or one and a half after taking alcohol while eating.
Alcohol is neutralized after getting into the liver. How quickly this happens depends on the above factors. Essential is the weight of the body of the nursing mother: for example, if she has a weight of 54 kg, then the alcohol contained in 150 ml of wine or 330 ml of beer will leave the bloodstream on average 2.5 hours later. With the use of whiskey or cognac, the period of excretion and neutralization will be significantly prolonged - 45 ml of vodka, for example, can "go out" up to 13 hours.
What will happen to the baby if the mother uses alcohol during breastfeeding?
With a single intake of one dose of alcohol (we are talking about 45 ml of vodka, or 330 ml of beer, or 150 ml of wine), the child has signs such as apathy, weakness, sleep disturbances.
With regular use of alcohol by mother and breastfeeding in children, problems with weight gain start, they often lag behind in psychomotor development.
Many nursing mothers are sure: if you express milk after drinking alcohol, then you can safely breastfeed your baby. The fact is that spirits penetrate without problems, both from blood to milk, and vice versa, so the alcohol content in milk is equivalent to its content in the bloodstream.
Contrary to the opinion of many, it is impossible to accelerate the elimination of alcohols from the circulation by drinking large amounts of water, tea or coffee.

Can I breastfeed my mother for a beer?
Some mothers think that drinking beer can increase the production of milk - this is not true. At first, really, it seems that the breast is "poured" and milk is more. Such feelings are associated with several factors:
- - alcohol keeps the fluid in the tissues - this leads to swelling of the vessels and lymph nodes in the area of the mammary glands;
- - alcohol during feeding depresses the secretion of the hormone oxytocin, which leads to this effect: the breast is full of milk, but the baby sucks less milk than before - because of the narrowing of the milk ducts.
Therefore, it is better not to combine beer and breastfeeding.
Is it possible to drink nonalcoholic beer to a nursing mother?
With regard to non-alcoholic beer and breastfeeding, there are several opinions of specialists. On the one hand, the process of making non-alcoholic beer is safe enough, so the drink is very similar to its alcoholic counterpart, but practically does not contain alcohol.
But even here women can expect a dirty trick. First, not all non-alcoholic beer, which is sold in stores, has the same quality. Unfair producers can add harmful substances, dyes, phytohormones, etc. To the non-alcoholic beverage. Therefore, first of all, it is necessary to make sure of the quality of the product.
Secondly, the taste of malt and hops, which is present in beer, may not like the baby - until the rejection of the breast. Therefore - whether to drink non-alcoholic beer when breastfeeding is a controversial issue.
Can I breastfeed my mother for wine?
There is an opinion that wine positively affects the quality of children's sleep. Many mothers believe that by drinking a little wine before feeding, they can soothe the baby and provide him with a deep and long sleep. American experts checked this assumption and completely refuted it. They proved that the use of a mother's feeding wine leads to disturbances in the child's nervous system: from the first minutes the baby feels euphoria resembling the usual state of intoxication. Further, oppression of the function of neurons occurs, and the infant falls asleep: however, such a sleep is heavy, with frequent awakenings and even nightmares - it is superficial, since it lacks a phase of restful sleep. The next morning the child will become irritable and capricious, or labile and inhibited - due to lack of proper rest.
Therefore, experts advise to refrain from drinking wine during breastfeeding - for the sake of health and well-being of the baby.
Is it possible to drink champagne to a nursing mother?
While the baby does not turn six months old, about alcohol, and, in particular, about champagne it is better not to remember - even an insignificant, at first glance, amount of alcohol can cause irreparable harm to the baby. Most experts believe that up to six months, any alcohol with breastfeeding should be excluded.
But, even if the child has already turned six months old, the use of champagne should be limited: a few sips should be enough. Moreover, to start feeding after drinking champagne is better not earlier than 2.5-3 hours.
How can it be, if my mother still could not resist drinking a little alcohol?
First: you can not offer a baby to a baby, if there are even the slightest signs of intoxication.
Second: if a woman presupposes the use of alcohol in breastfeeding, it is necessary to express a sufficient amount of "pure" milk in advance - it can be stored for some time in a refrigerator or in a freezer.
Third: while taking part in a feast, a woman should never forget that she is a mother - she has a huge responsibility not only for her life and health, but also for the health of a small child - still completely defenseless.
Alcohol and breastfeeding is better not to combine at all - in spite of the fact that some experts point to the "permissible" dose of alcohol for lactating women. "Admissible" does not mean "safe". Any parent should realize that the health of a little person is always more valuable than any of the pleasures.
