After a heart attack, it is recommended to reduce the caloric content of food (eat less fat, salt, and liquid).

A diet for myocardial infarction is necessary to restore the functioning of the heart muscle, improve blood circulation and metabolism, and normalize digestive function.

Depending on the stage of the disease, the doctor prescribes one of three diets:

  • In the acute period (first week), the first diet is prescribed - pureed food, fractional meals (up to 6 times a day). Salt is completely excluded at this stage.
  • after 1-2 weeks (subacute period) fractional meals and pureed food up to 6 times a day are also prescribed, but a small amount of salt is already introduced (up to 3 g per day). You can drink no more than 1 liter of liquid per day.
  • at the scarring stage (4th week) you can eat chopped food or food cut into small pieces, the amount of salt can be increased to 5-6 g, liquid - up to 1.1 l, it is also allowed to increase the amount of proteins and fats.

In case of a heart attack, the temperature of food is important – it should not be hot or cold, the optimal temperature is considered to be from 15 to 500C.

You need to eat small portions at short intervals, which will reduce the load on the cardiovascular system and digestive organs, the last meal should be no later than 3 pm.

In case of a heart attack, you should consume more vitamins A, C, D, which are found in some vegetables and fruits (carrots, pumpkin, spinach, apples, peaches, apricots).

After an illness, you should significantly reduce the amount of salt you consume, as it promotes fluid retention in the body, thickens the blood, causes swelling, and impairs blood circulation.

Also, all patients after a heart attack are strictly prohibited from drinking any alcoholic beverages.

Alcohol has a stimulating effect on the nervous system and increases the load on the cardiovascular system, which can lead to a deterioration in the condition and delay the recovery process.
