Experts advise doctors to be cautious about using X-rays to examine pregnant women and babies in the first three months of life.
Long-term experiments involving people who had X-rays done as infants or in the womb have shown that there is a small risk of causing various types of cancer and leukemia. Researchers conclude that negative side effects of CT scans cannot be completely ruled out, since they use radiation, albeit in small doses.
