How the child grows:

This week, your baby weighs a little over 1.8 kg and is 43 cm long. His skin is quickly smoothing out and his skeleton is strengthening. The skull bones remain flexible and slightly mobile, making it easier for your baby to pass through the birth canal.

Important: Each baby's development is unique. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of fetal development.

Changes in the expectant mother

Given the fact that the baby fills most of your belly, you may experience discomfort all the time: while sleeping, sitting, standing, and even when moving.

You may experience numbness in your fingers, wrists, and hands, which is caused by fluid buildup and increased pressure on the nerves. The numbness may alternate with tingling, shooting, sharp, or dull pain.

Many women still feel sexy at this stage, and their partners agree. You may not be surprised, but for most women, sex during pregnancy is an essential part of self-care. Tired of being pregnant? "Whenever I have these thoughts, I lie down and rub my belly. Sure enough, my baby starts moving, and I think about the moment when I'll finally hold him." - Barbara

Controlling the child's movements

  • How often will I feel my baby move?

Your child is very active now, although this activity is quite individual.

  • Do I need to track my baby's movement patterns?

To be on the safe side, many doctors recommend monitoring your baby's movements at least a few times a day after 28 weeks. There are many different ways to do this, so talk to your doctor to find the best option.

  • What should I do if I feel like my baby's movements have slowed down or changed?

Tell your doctor right away if you notice a slowdown in your baby's movements. A decrease in fetal activity may signal a problem, so in such cases, a biophysical profile should be performed to check the baby's condition.

This week's activity: Wash baby clothes and baby bedding. Regardless of the prestige of the store where you bought the baby's essentials, it is better to wash everything that comes into contact with the baby's skin. Use hypoallergenic products that are suitable for sensitive baby skin.
