Even if your child draws a cat instead of a horse, you can’t deprive him of the joy of creativity. In order for a child to be able to fully demonstrate his abilities, you need to stimulate him to be creative. In this activity, the main thing is not the accuracy of the lines or the truthfulness of the image, but the child’s joy from what he creates: draws, sculpts, knits or writes. When a child is happy in creativity, his other abilities - the desire for communication, self-confidence, concentration of memory and attention - blossom like a flower.
How a child creates
He does it as naturally as breathing. When you allow your children to grow and learn, one of their greatest joys is creativity. Children are natural creators. They learn by playing and exploring. It’s fun and enjoyable for them. They master complex concepts by recreating them on their own child-sized scale. And just like that, a laundry basket becomes a rocket ship hurtling through space, or a box of blocks becomes the tallest skyscraper in the world. If you give your child plenty of opportunities to express themselves through art, they will have a natural outlet for their creative energy. This means less stress and anxiety.
To encourage your child's creative growth and development, you must create an environment for them that will help them develop their artistic expression. Here are some ideas to encourage children's art in your home
Keep art supplies within easy reach
Don't lock your art supplies away in a cabinet, keep them within reach in an area of the house where your children can use them whenever inspiration strikes. You may have to create an "art corner" in one corner of the living room. And as long as your children have a place for their own world that they want to create, they will feel more free. And they will do it. Ask your children where they would like to see such an art corner and what should be there. For example, paints, brushes, pencils, markers, play dough, paper and scissors.
Stock up on creative supplies
You don't have to go out and buy the latest paints or invisible markers that only write on black paper. You don't have to outfit your entire house with the latest technology. Kids' crafts only need the basics: plain white paper, colored paper, crayons, markers, kids' scissors, paint, and glue. From time to time, you can supplement this collection of crafts with something else, such as glitter, sparkles, pieces of fabric, play dough, clay, or even scraps of old newspapers that can be glued together. For example, you can make a menu out of some old magazines and books by cutting out tempting recipes.
Household tools for creativity
You don’t need a lot of money or imagination to create real art in your home. Some of the best art tools are already in your home. For example, you can fill an old bottle with thinned paint and let the kids try their hand at splatter art on a large white sheet (preferably with newspaper on the floor). Kids could also make a special culinary project with pieces of the most accessible and cheap vegetables, such as carrots, potatoes, broccoli or mushrooms.
And of course, kids can always use their fingers for good old finger painting. This works on kids' reflex points and stimulates all of their body systems to work well. Including the nervous and immune systems. Try this: Fill a small bucket with plain water and give the kids some old brushes or sponges. Then let them paint "paints" on the sidewalk or concrete slabs in the yard and watch them beautifully and slowly evaporate in the sun.
Paper is not necessary at all
Your kids can create art almost anywhere, and if you don’t want childish drawing on the walls, you should allow them the freedom to create masterpieces anywhere. For example, on the sidewalk with chalk. Let the kids go play in the yard so they can express their creativity. Save large shoe boxes or clothing boxes and let them decorate and play with them. Give them a special area in the house or yard and let the kids decorate a blank wall with their own design, of their own choosing. Try to do this at least once a month, choosing a different object each time. These objects can be an egg carton, a milk carton, a paper towel roll, or even something tasty from the kitchen. And let the kids come up with art projects that they can do with all these things.
Think in three dimensions
Most of the time when we think about art, we adults imagine a two-dimensional image. But children can be so creative! They imagine not two, but three-dimensional images when they mold something from clay, dough or sand. Don't forget that dough, clay, sand or play dough can be great art materials. Give children the task of molding something not from play dough, but cutting out figures from, say, vegetables or fruits. This will be even more interesting for children, because masterpieces from vegetables can also be tasty.
As you can see, parents, with a few very simple materials at hand, you can raise a whole new generation of creative individuals. But don’t force your own creativity. Play with your children, sculpt and cut out – this will be a completely new, fun, but very trusting relationship between you and your children. If you don’t put pressure on them and don’t demand perfection in drawing and sculpting, children will definitely want to return to creativity, sooner or later. Even when they grow up. The main thing is to give their imagination the opportunity to create freely. Children will enjoy this freedom now, and they will definitely appreciate it in the distant future.
How to help a child to show his abilities? Just let him enjoy life and draw, sculpt, lay out this life.
