Homemade masks for combination skin will help solve many problems typical for combination skin types.
In the so-called T-zone (i.e. on the chin, nose and forehead) you can reduce hypersecretion of the sebaceous glands, shrink and cleanse enlarged pores, reduce acne; and the skin of the U-zone (cheekbones, temples and cheeks) can be nourished, moisturized and toned.
Thus, we need products that will be suitable for different areas of the face. And here it is necessary to use either different mask compositions - separately for oily and normal (or dry) skin, or prepare combined masks. And this is not difficult at all.
Recipes for masks for combination skin
Before sharing with you the recipes for masks for combination skin, it is worth remembering that with this type of facial skin, no one has cancelled such a universal problem as fading and aging of the epidermis. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account such factors as decreased turgor, formation of wrinkles and the appearance of age pigmentation. So the "field of activity" for caring for combination skin is quite extensive.
Obviously, you remember how to apply any mask (only on a clean face, along massage lines), how long to keep it on (at least a quarter of an hour) and how to remove it (wash off with lukewarm water, then rinse your face with cool water).
Masks for combination skin: cleansing
Oily and dry areas of the face can be thoroughly cleaned (and at the same time, enlarged pores can be narrowed) using a mask based on kaolin (cosmetic clay), for which a tablespoon of dry clay is mixed with a small amount of water or an aqueous infusion of pharmacy chamomile - until the consistency of not very thick sour cream. The mixture is divided into two parts (in separate containers) and 10 drops of fresh lemon or grapefruit juice are added to one part (this is for oily skin), and the same amount of olive oil is added to the second part (this is for dry skin). All that remains is to correctly apply the compositions to the skin, without mixing up the mixtures!
A mask based on whipped egg white, which is also divided into two parts and the same ingredients as in the first recipe are added to them, cleanses, refreshes and tightens pores. The protein mask is applied 2-3 times - on top of the dried previous layer, and washed off with cool water.
An oatmeal mask for combination skin that cleanses and nourishes the basal layer of the epidermis can be prepared either from ground Hercules or from oatmeal (oat flour). A tablespoon of the dry ingredient can be turned into a paste by adding whey, low-fat kefir, sage decoction or plain water. Then half a teaspoon of fine salt (extra) and 3-4 drops of bergamot or tea tree oil are added to the mixture for oily areas, and half a teaspoon of olive oil and 3-4 drops of rose oil for the U-zone.
Masks for combination skin: moisturizing
The simplest mask for increasing the moisture of combination skin consists of two parts of natural liquid honey, one part of aloe juice and a small amount of wheat flour (for thickness). All of this should also make a sour cream-like mixture. Such masks can be applied to the entire face, but not more than twice a week.
Masks made from fresh cottage cheese, which should be slightly diluted with milk or cooled green tea, as well as masks made from fruit pulp: banana, peach or kiwi, are excellent for moisturizing combination skin. In order to enhance the tonic effect for skin prone to increased sebum secretion, it is recommended to add 4-5 drops of ylang-ylang or lemon balm essential oil, and for dry skin - lavender, jasmine or grape seed oil.
You can't ignore the triple benefit of a simple old remedy - a mask made from fresh cucumber: firstly, it moisturizes the skin of any type, secondly, it nourishes it with thiamine (vitamin B1) and riboflavin (vitamin B2), and thirdly, it helps make age spots on the face less noticeable.
Masks for nourishing combination skin
Masks for skin nourishment are necessary to increase its elasticity and smooth out wrinkles, therefore honey and eggs are often used in recipes for nourishing masks. For oily areas of the skin, a mixture of one egg white whipped into a foam with a dessert spoon of liquid honey and the same amount of corn flour or bran is prepared. For areas with dry or normal skin, you need to mix half a raw yolk, about a teaspoon of honey and the same amount of vegetable oil (preferably olive or corn); to obtain a thicker consistency, wheat flour is also added.
Sour cream (only high-quality) is also suitable for combination skin, but in order not to “overfatten” the skin of the T-zone, cosmetologists advise adding lemon juice or kiwi puree to it.
Yeast has long established itself as an effective food for any skin type: a mixture of baker's yeast with plain water or grape juice has a beneficial effect on oily skin, with any vegetable oil or heavy cream on dry skin, and with warm milk on normal skin. If you want to quickly improve your complexion, you should add rose, neroli, mint or verbena oil (no more than 4-5 drops) to such a mask. And additives such as an oil solution of vitamin E, geranium or lavender essential oil will enhance the smoothing effect on wrinkles.
Masks for combination skin with various problems
Acne may appear on those parts of the face where the skin is oily, and to combat them, a mask of strawberries with glycerin is recommended: 10 drops of glycerin per tablespoon of berries mashed into a pulp. This mask should be done every other day until the rash disappears.
In addition, such a composition narrows enlarged pores well. To solve the same problem, prepare a mask for combination skin with aloe juice and baking soda, which are taken in equal quantities. Also, for acne, it is recommended to make a mask twice a week according to one of the following recipes:
- mix a tablespoon of flour and a teaspoon of soda with a decoction of oak bark, calendula or sage;
- Mix a tablespoon of crushed oatmeal with warm green tea and add 3-4 drops of lavender, thyme, clove or tea tree essential oil.
Medicinal herbs - thyme, chamomile, sage, peppermint, coltsfoot leaves - can be used to reduce oiliness on the forehead, chin and nose: just grind them into a powder and mix with boiled water to the desired consistency.
Reviews of masks for combination skin once again indicate that the effort spent on their preparation, as well as the cost, are minimal, and the effect, in the literal sense of the word, is obvious. Although, of course, masks for combination skin require more time and patience.
