The need to get rid of hair is caused by the desire, first of all, of women, for aesthetic perfection of the body. Each time space has its own standards of beauty. At this stage, fashion requires the absence of hair not only on the body of women, but also on men. Young people are especially picky about the bikini area during the beach season. Even a hint of what is given to us by nature is considered bad form. Removing the visible part of the hair (depilation) is a troublesome business, because the hair grows back quickly. The procedure of destruction of the hair follicle - epilation - can get rid of their growth. Laser epilation of the bikini area - hair removal with a laser.
The problem is solved, but is laser hair removal of the bikini area harmful and dangerous? Experts assure that the laser beam can reach a depth of 1 to 4 mm, i.e. the location of the hair follicle, it does not penetrate deeper, and therefore cannot harm the internal organs.
Is bikini laser hair removal painful? Everyone has their own pain threshold, the procedure is unpleasant for some, painful for others. Intimate areas of the body are very tender and sensitive, so you have to use anesthetic ointment.
Indications for the procedure
Indications for the procedure are a person's desire to get rid of hair, including ingrown hairs and in hard-to-reach places for a sufficiently long time (from 6 months to 7 years). In addition, people with sensitive skin and dark hair containing melanin can be exposed to laser exposure. It is the target for the laser. Light, red and gray hair are not subject to laser hair removal.

Preparation
Hair removal should be preceded by certain preparation. First of all, you need to decide on the choice of salon, make sure of the good reputation of the establishment. Then you should meet with a specialist for a preliminary examination and identification of contraindications. During the meeting, the skin phototype is determined for the correct adjustment of the equipment. There are general recommendations for everyone who has chosen this method of getting rid of hair:
- dark skin in the epilation area must be bleached for a month and a half with special creams, since it also contains melanin;
- Avoid sunbathing or using a solarium for the same period of time;
- Do not perform other types of hair removal 2.5 months before the procedure;
- If you are prone to herpes, start taking antiviral medications 5 days before the scheduled session.
Half an hour before the start of the session, the areas where the laser will be applied are anesthetized.
Technique laser hair removal of the bikini area
There are various variations of laser hair removal of intimate areas. For women, the following types are offered:
- shallow bikini (beyond the panty line);
- extra bikini (intergluteal folds, labia);
- deep bikini (two previous procedures, plus pubic and buttock hair removal).
Laser bikini hair removal for men involves hair removal on:
- pubis;
- buttocks;
- extra bikini - scrotum and intergluteal fold;
- full with pubis - the line of the genitals, pubis, direction from the groin to the hips.
The technique of the procedure involves using a special device - an epilator, emitting highly directed energy of high density. The mechanism of action of the laser is the effect of these light waves on melanin - hair pigment, destroying under the influence of light the cells of the hair growth zone, blood and lymphatic vessels, sebaceous glands. After such an "attack" the hair follicle is dead, hair will never grow from it. But is one procedure enough? The unequivocal answer is no. Only mature hair follicles are subject to destruction, of which there are no more than 5-20% on the body. Complete replacement of hair occurs within 8 months to 2 years. Numerous observations have shown that on average the required number of sessions is 4-5, but after 4 years up to 40% of the hair from the original can be reborn.
Contraindications to the procedure
There are contraindications to laser hair removal. The procedure cannot be used by patients with diabetes, any skin pathologies, allergies to ultraviolet rays, pregnant women, cancer patients, varicose veins, young people under 18 years of age. Taking certain medications also makes this type of hair removal impossible. These are tetracycline antibiotics and neuroleptics.
Complications after the procedure
The following complications are possible after the procedure:
- skin burn due to improper actions of a cosmetologist;
- inflammation of the hair follicle (occurs with natural increased sweating or when visiting a sauna);
- allergy;
- exacerbation of herpes;
- increased growth of cannon.

Care after the procedure
After bikini epilation, even if hyperemia and itching occur, you cannot use substances containing alcohol to treat the skin surface for 3 days, visit a sauna, take a hot bath, or sunbathe. Skin care after the procedure consists of applying creams that relieve inflammation (bipanten, panthenol), and cold dry compresses are allowed on the first day.
Reviews
Many reviews note the effectiveness of this method of hair removal, and point out the advantages over other methods, although there have been no reports of complete hair disappearance. Mostly only women share their observations. They complain about the high cost of the procedure, the need for more sessions than stated. At the same time, they note that during the beach season, even after several laser hair removal procedures, it is much easier to care for the bikini area.
