Gelatin for the face is a wonderful natural source of collagen for skin firmness and elasticity.
Gelatin is a protein thickener of natural origin, which is often used in the culinary industry to make all kinds of dishes (mousses, jellies, marmalades, jellied meats, etc.). Edible gelatin is obtained by denaturing collagen, which is part of the connective tissue of the animal organism (bones, cartilage, tendons). Collagen makes the tissue strong and elastic, and this property is key in using gelatin for the face.
It should be noted that when caring for your facial skin, you should only buy food-grade gelatin, as technical gelatin is also available for sale.
How is gelatin useful for the face?
Skin aging, including a decrease in its properties such as elasticity and firmness, occurs due to a disruption in the structure of collagen fibers. Externally, this process manifests itself in the appearance of wrinkles, first small and then deep. In cosmetology, great efforts are being made to develop various methods of replenishing the skin with collagen, making it the main component of various masks, creams, and even injected.
But the collagen contained in the creams is quite large and is not able to penetrate into the deep layers of the skin, but creates only a superficial film on the skin, which prevents excessive loss of moisture from the skin.
Collagen in gelatin is broken down quite well, which is why it is better absorbed by the skin. It is possible and necessary to use gelatin for the face not only in adulthood, but also in youth, as soon as the first wrinkles begin to appear. When using gelatin for the face, the skin acquires:
- elasticity,
- elasticity,

Gelatin facial cleansing is very common in the modern world among cosmetologists, it is also important that such cleansing can be easily done at home. There are several ways to prepare masks with gelatin for facial cleansing.
- Mask 1 = gelatin (two teaspoons) + soda (one teaspoon) + salt (one teaspoon). To prepare this mask, pour a small amount of water over the gelatin and let it swell. Crush the sea salt as much as possible and mix with soda, then add to the swollen gelatin. Now you need to let the mixture sit until the soda dissolves. The sea salt will not dissolve, because the gelatin is too viscous, it only envelops the salt, making it softer for the skin. Next, you need to apply the mask to steamed and clean skin, making light massaging movements (a couple of minutes), especially in problem areas. Then leave the mask on your face for a couple of minutes, rinse with warm water and soak the skin with cream.
Using soda and sea salt, we cleanse the skin, remove blackheads, relieve signs of inflammation and prevent its occurrence, and gelatin nourishes the skin with collagen.
This facial cleansing is done every two weeks, but if the skin is very problematic, it can be done weekly. After using this mask, the skin acquires a healthy color, becomes clean, soft and smooth.
- Mask 2 = gelatin (two teaspoons) + egg white (one) + starch (one teaspoon) + wheat germ oil (15 drops). Mix the egg white with the starch and beat. At the same time, pour warm water over the gelatin and let it swell. Then mix all the ingredients. Before applying the mask, wash your face and apply a moisturizer to avoid the tightening effect of the mask. Egg white cleanses pores well, tightens them and makes them invisible. Wheat germ oil and starch nourish the skin, saturate it with vitamins and perfectly relieve signs of inflammation. Gelatin, in turn, evens out the complexion. The skin is cleansed, becomes velvety and beautiful. This cleansing mask can be used every week.
