Inadequate hair care and exposure to harmful environmental factors often lead to loss of shine, splitting, progressive porosity and reduced strength of hair. All of these phenomena are associated with damage to a number of hair structures. To solve these problems, cosmetic products for hair care after washing are used. The general requirements for such products are:

  • restoring shine to hair;
  • ease of combing;
  • strengthening thin, weak hair and increasing its elasticity;
  • removal of static electricity;
  • ease of installation;
  • gives hair silkiness without weighing it down.

Classification of products for hair care after washing (according to the French Federation of the Cosmetic Industry)

  1. Rinse-off (rinses).
  2. Leave-in.

The group of rinse-off hair care products after washing covers all types of rinses or conditioners, starting with liquid milk, conditioners, creams for combing hair with different consistencies, ending with liquid gels. The composition of the listed forms usually includes the following components:

  • Base stock (fats, alcohols, esters, waxes)
  • Thickener (often a hydrophilic colloid is used, which is necessary to stabilize the emulsion form)
  • Conditioning additives (cationic detergents and silicones)
  • Special components (various medicinal, sunscreen products). For example, Laboratories Dermatologiques Ducray (France) uses substances that stimulate hair growth factors as additives in scalp lotion (Anastim lotion for the treatment of diffuse alopecia in men and women)
  • Preservatives

The group of leave-in products is represented by various solutions (lotions and so-called serums), foams, and conditioning creams.

The basic composition of washable and leave-in cosmetic products is described in the sections on care for dry and oily hair.
