Atraumatic facial cleansing is based on chemical reactions caused by AHA acids. Despite the scary word "chemical", the procedure is the gentlest of its kind. In fact, it is a gentle type of peeling, and replacing the name with the synonym "atraumatic" is entirely justified. According to modern cosmetology, this is a completely safe and effective technique. [ 1 ]

Indications for the procedure

Unlike manual or vacuum methods, atraumatic facial cleansing is performed contactlessly. Therefore, the skin is not injured or mechanically affected, and side effects such as irritation, tightness, and hyperemia do not occur.

The procedure is suitable for everyone, regardless of type, age, presence or absence of tan. Dryness and thinness of the skin do not interfere with the procedure, since the procedure is extremely gentle. [ 2 ]

However, specific indications for cleansing have also been determined. They arise when a person notices the following deficiencies:

  • expression lines or age wrinkles;
  • withering of the skin;
  • surface contamination with dust, dead cells;
  • comedones, acne, pimples.

Preparation

One of the goals of cleansing is to remove the dead layer of the epidermis for rejuvenation and smoothing of the skin surface. It reduces the secretion of fat, reduces the activity of microflora, and eliminates the likelihood of inflammation.

  • The procedure is performed in several stages. As with other cosmetic procedures, atraumatic facial cleansing is preceded by makeup removal.

At this stage of preparation, cleansing, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory preparations are used. This is followed by exfoliation of scales using a peeling consisting mainly of fruit acids. A mask with glycolic acid is applied, which serves to open the pores. [ 3 ]

A second layer is applied to the face with open pores, with more concentrated ingredients. At this stage, the skin is warmed up and softened, and as a result of chemical processes, some of the fat plugs dissolve. The final result is achieved thanks to chemical processes that dissolve the contents of clogged pores and the accompanying dirt.

At this point, irritation or allergy is likely, but they are not critical. This is a normal reaction of the skin to external irritants. Finally, a mask is applied to narrow the pores, moisturize and nourish the skin.

Who to contact?

Technique atraumatic facial

During atraumatic facial cleansing, lotions, gels and other preparations selected according to the individual parameters of the patient are used. This is a set of sequential actions, during which non-aggressive chemicals with a delicate cleansing effect are used.

The procedure includes several stages: make-up removal, light peeling, cold hydration, cleansing, soothing mask, protective cream.

  • After removing makeup, the skin is cleansed with liquid soap, which acts as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and pain-relieving agent.
  • Thorough exfoliation removes calluses and all dead particles.
  • The special composition activates microcirculation, warms and softens tissues, and has an anesthetic effect.
  • Lipolytic liquid liquefies fats and comedones.
  • Disinfection with lotion prevents inflammation.
  • The purpose of a medicinal mask is to soothe, dry, and prevent inflammatory reactions.
  • Non-comedogenic cream is designed to protect, moisturize and regenerate cells.

The atraumatic procedure has significant advantages. It is not painful, does not cause complications or unpleasant surprises. It narrows pores, cleanses acne and pimples, accelerates epidermal renewal. Improvements are noticeable after the first session. [ 4 ]

The procedure is applicable to everyone without exception. It solves both teenage and age-related problems. This is the only method that can be used in the presence of cuts or open wounds.

The brand's innovations include instant action products, self-tanning, sports, and creams for men. It was here that jojoba oil and collagen were first introduced into the formula. Luxury cosmetics can also be used at home to correct imperfections and improve the texture and appearance of the skin.

Atraumatic ultrasonic facial cleansing

Some experts call ultrasonic facial cleansing atraumatic – due to the fact that it does not damage the dermis and does not require a recovery period. However, most cosmetologists classify ultrasonic atraumatic facial cleansing as a separate technique. Today, it is one of the most popular salon treatments. It is recommended for cleansing from dead elements, dirt deposits, and improving complexion. [ 8 ]

The cleaning device in the form of a blade is called a scrubber. It emits ultrasound, and the ultrasonic vibrations generate high-frequency, low-power vibrations in the surface layer.

  • In this way, ultrasound separates dead cells and dirt from living tissue.
  • Thanks to this, the skin becomes smooth to the touch and cleared of shallow comedones.
  • Ultrasonic micro massage evens out the texture and tone of the skin.

The procedure is performed on a clean face covered with a special gel. The scrubber gently touches the surface for about 20 minutes. There is no pain or other discomfort, only a slight vibration is felt. Combined with manual post-cleaning, increasing the effectiveness of the manipulation. [ 9 ]

  • UV cleaning can be done no more than once every two to three months. In difficult cases, it is repeated three times every three days, but then a break of six months is required.

The session cannot be performed in case of acute acne and other dermatological problems, damage and inflammation, high temperature, neuralgia, tumors, cardiovascular pathologies.

Contraindications to the procedure

Unlike other methods, atraumatic facial cleansing has virtually no contraindications. You should only pay attention to allergic reactions, high skin sensitivity or complete intolerance to fruit acids by the body. A preliminary consultation with a cosmetologist should include testing for reactions.

The procedure should be postponed if there are injuries, inflammations, infectious rashes or pathologies on the face, as well as in case of an acute cold. Some methods may have additional contraindications and prohibitions, which a qualified specialist is obliged to warn the client about. [ 10 ]

Consequences after the procedure

The procedure is designed for 1.5 - 2 hours. Its softness is a plus, but there is a downside: atraumatic facial cleansing does not act deeply and does not remove deep accumulations of dirt or serious skin defects. The positive consequences after the procedure are that it passes without a trace and does not interfere with immediately going outside, going to work or other things.

  • To avoid unwanted consequences after the procedure, in the following days it is forbidden to visit saunas and swimming pools, sunbathe on the beach and in a solarium.

Atraumatic facial cleansing stimulates regeneration, so the skin becomes fresh and healthy. It is not subject to stretching or pressure, and does not turn red or swell as a result of the procedure. No pain or other discomfort is felt during the cleansing. A slight burning sensation is possible at times.

Antiseptic treatment eliminates the possibility of infection of the epidermis. Cleansing the pores promotes skin breathing, as well as better absorption of cosmetic components than before. Due to cleansing, blood circulation, elasticity, and structure improve. The skin becomes smooth, beautiful, and naturally fresh.

The procedure takes up to 2 hours. The frequency depends on individual characteristics and varies widely: from a session per month to several per year.

Complications after the procedure

Despite all the harmlessness, most cosmetic manipulations are accompanied by some discomfort. The specialist should warn everyone interested in atraumatic facial cleansing about this, as well as about complications after the procedure.

  • The pinkness of the skin is due to increased blood circulation. A little redness is considered normal and completely disappears after a day or two.

The rashes that form after cleaning should not bother patients either: this is natural self-cleaning, activated under the influence of manipulations. After an exacerbation, the appearance will improve significantly.

Skin tightness is felt due to the action of acids. Moisturizing and nourishing creams reduce it, but increased dryness remains for some time.

Such consequences usually do not require additional intervention and soon disappear on their own. At the patient’s request, the cosmetologist can prescribe medications to reduce unwanted effects. [ 11 ]

It is necessary to contact a specialist in case of more serious symptoms:

  • If hyperemia does not go away within 48 hours.
  • Pain, swelling, burning, hyperemia may indicate too aggressive manipulation.
  • Irritation, peeling, bright redness, swelling are signs of intolerance to the ingredient used.
  • Severe rashes can be a result of poor quality products, infection, or questionable qualifications of specialists.

Care after the procedure

If atraumatic facial cleansing is performed by competent specialists in a salon with a good reputation, then complications are practically excluded. The rest, that is, proper care after the procedure, depends directly on the person receiving the service. What should be observed in the following days? [ 12 ]

  • Do not use scrubs, saunas, or the beach.
  • Do not do physical exercise.
  • Do not use strong cosmetics, steaming and manual cleansing, sunscreens, or foundation.
  • Avoid lifting, hair removal, and laser procedures on your face.
  • Use foams and gels for washing according to your skin type.
  • Remove oiliness with an alcohol-free toner or chlorhexidine bigluconate.
  • Moisturize your skin, drink plenty of water.

Reviews

Most of the reviews are questions asked to cosmetologists about care after cleaning. They depend on the quality of the service received. If atraumatic facial cleaning was carried out successfully, and subsequent care was carried out according to the rules, then there are no questions. In some cases, reactions related to the characteristics of the skin are possible.

Professional cleaning can be compared to general cleaning. It is no coincidence that it is one of the most popular among regular clients of salons. Atraumatic facial cleaning removes all kinds of dirt, cleans pores, prevents many skin problems and imperfections. As a result, it postpones the unpleasant moment of aging, prolongs youth, health and beauty of the skin.
