Is it possible to drink ginger with gastritis?
The therapeutic abilities of ginger in gastritis are not denied by experts. Moreover, the plant ginger has a positive effect on the immune system, prevents the appearance of helminths, facilitates digestion of "heavy" food, adjusts the stool with diarrhea, increases appetite. Nevertheless, ginger in gastritis is not always allowed and not all. First, you need to take into account the degree of acidity of the patient's stomach. So, with increased acid production, the rhizome should not be consumed, so as not to provoke an exacerbation of the disease. And secondly, you need to pay attention to other associated pathologies, because the use of the root of the plant has its contraindications.

Ginger for gastritis and ulcers

In addition, there is a feeling of pressure and heaviness, heartburn, sometimes - attacks of nausea. In order not to harm your health, with such signs, you should not rush to use ginger. First, it is necessary to consult with a doctor and conduct certain diagnostic procedures. According to the results of diagnostics and it will become clear whether it is possible to add spice to dishes and drinks.
If high stomach acidity is detected, or bleeding or multiple ulcers, then ginger tea will have to be forgotten, so as not to harm your own health. Gastritis with normal or low acidity, out of exacerbation, as well as superficial ulcers without bleeding tendencies are usually not contraindications to the use of ginger root.
Ginger for erosive gastritis
Erosive gastritis is a consequence of impaired protective function of the gastric mucosa. In most cases, erosions are acute, bleeding, and only in some cases are accompanied by minimal symptoms.

Ginger for atrophic gastritis

The disease is characterized by atrophic changes in the mucosal layer. At the same time, the number of glands decreases, which are partially replaced by intestinal epithelial tissue.

Nevertheless, due to the lesion of the glandular system of the stomach, with atrophic gastritis there is often a need to stimulate secretion. In this case, ginger can help - but only after this issue is approved by the attending doctor.
Ginger drink or tea with ginger in atrophic processes is recommended to drink three times a day about 20 minutes before the main meals.
Ginger for exacerbation of gastritis
An exacerbation of gastritis most often develops in a few hours or a day. The relapse usually lasts up to five or seven days, but full recovery of the stomach occurs much later.
At the stage of exacerbation, doctors advise to refrain from eating at all - at least until the main signs of the disease are not overcome. After a period of starvation, initially follow a gentle diet. Then, as the affected mucosa is restored, the diet is expanded. At this stage, it is already allowed to include in the menu dishes and drinks with ginger - but only if the patient has normal or reduced acidity. Increased acid secretion is a contraindication for the use of ginger root, regardless of what form of course of gastritis - acute or chronic.
With excess acid in the stomach, ginger is not used neither in the stage of exacerbation, nor in remission of the inflammatory process.
Ginger for catarrhal gastritis
Catarrhal gastritis is successfully treated against the background of neutralization of the etiological factor that caused the development of pathology. The patient is prescribed diet therapy, which implies therapeutic fasting for a day (sometimes two days), and then - the intake of sparing food.
Catarrhal gastritis can proceed in different forms. And, above all, it is associated with a different type of acidity in the stomach. If such acidity is increased, then the use of ginger is out of the question. With low acid secretion, the root can be included in the diet, but only after the acute inflammatory process subsides.
At low or normal acidity ginger helps to correct the functional state of gastric mucous tissues. But if gastritis is accompanied by erosive and ulcerative processes, it is better to consult your doctor about the use of ginger.

Ginger is probably the most famous root in the world: it was actively used by ancient Asian warriors to sanitize dishes that were not subjected to heat treatment. Ginger components, getting into the digestive system, have a powerful effect on the organs. If the mucosa is in an inflamed state, if there are deep multiple ulcers and erosions, the active substances of the rhizome can aggravate the condition and worsen the course of the disease.
Doctors do not advise people suffering from liver and gallbladder diseases (especially hepatitis, cirrhosis, calculous cholecystitis) to take ginger seasoning. When using ginger can develop biliary colic - the movement of stones along the biliary tract.
If the patient has bleeding erosions or ulcers in the stomach, ginger can increase bleeding, which is certainly very dangerous.
Ginger in gastritis is used carefully: only during remission, and only if the acidity is normal or low. In all other cases, the use of the root is not recommended.
Recipes of dishes and drinks with ginger in gastritis
If you are worried about heartburn, just add 2 pieces of ginger (root, about 1 cm thick) to 250 ml of boiling water. The potion is insisted for two hours, filtered and drunk for gastritis with heartburn 50 ml three times a day.
To prepare the healing liquid faster, juice is squeezed from the rhizome of ginger. One teaspoon of juice is added to 200 ml of boiled water at room temperature. Take 50 ml three times a day.
Using the above recipes, you can prepare and more complex therapeutic compositions with ginger. For example, if the enzyme activity of the stomach is insufficient, an infusion of raspberry leaves or juice from plantain leaves is added to ginger water. If such a remedy is taken 50 ml about 60 minutes before meals, you can qualitatively strengthen acidity.
In gastritis with normal secretion of gastric juice take this mixture:
- Grind ginger, honey and butter taken in equal quantities;
- take 1 tsp. Three times a day, half an hour before meals.
To improve the work of the stomach affected by gastritis, ginger is added to dishes. For example, you can follow such proven recipes:
- Pumpkin puree soup. Peel onion, a piece of ginger, pumpkin and carrot, chop finely. Sauté onion and ginger in a pan, add carrots and pumpkin, pour vegetable broth, add spices, bring to a boil and cook over low heat for about 20 minutes. Then chop with a blender to a puree-like consistency, once again bring to a boil and remove from heat. Serve with a spoonful of Greek yogurt or low-fat sour cream.
- Ginger cake. Mix 400 g cottage cheese, six eggs, grated ginger (about 5 cm), 100 g butter, 100 g grated cheese and 300 g sugar. Gradually add 300 g of flour and vanilla sugar. Spread the mixture in a greased with butter and sprinkled with breadcrumbs, bake in the oven at +180°C for an hour, or until browned. Let the cake cool and then remove from the mold. Serve with tea.
- Chicken with ginger-yogurt marinade. Cut chicken fillets into pieces of about 4-5 cm, put them in a bowl and mix them with the marinade. To prepare the marinade, chop ginger root and dill, add a glass of natural yogurt, salt and olive oil, mix thoroughly. The meat is sent to marinate in the refrigerator for about 8 hours. Then the marinated fillet is placed on a baking tray greased with vegetable oil. Send to the oven, bake at +190°C until ready (about 50 minutes). Serve with vegetables or any garnish.
Heat-treated ginger also has beneficial properties, but it is much less irritating to the gastric mucosa. This should be taken into account if dishes with fresh (raw) ginger are not well perceived by the digestive tract of a sick person.
