8 common food allergies

Peanut
This includes peanut butter, assorted nuts, beer nuts and peanut butter. Experts often advise patients with peanut allergy to avoid hazelnuts due to the risks of cross contamination. In addition, one third of people with peanut allergy (which is a legume plant or a so-called peanut), are allergic to one or more real nuts that grow on trees.
Hidden sources
Sauces that are used in national - Asian, African and Mexican - dishes, sweets, chocolate, sunflower seeds and peanut butter (which is often processed on general equipment, so carefully read the product labels), some natural and artificial aromatic additives and many other products (read labels of all products that have undergone technological treatment).
Delicious substitutes
- Lightly blot apples in honey, instead of peanut butter.
- Prepare yourself a popcorn when you really want something crunchy and salty.
- Think about alternatives to a peanut butter sandwich: try a turkey sandwich with cranberries, cheddar cheese and chutney (Indian meat seasoning) or red pepper fried in goat cheese cheese.
Eggs
Some people are so sensitive to egg proteins that the smell from cooking eggs can cause them an allergic reaction.
Hidden sources
Ice cream, egg substitutes, pasta, sweets, hot dogs, meatballs, bread, buns and other pastries, mayonnaise, meringue, marshmallow, nougat and marzipans.
Delicious substitutes
- Instead of mayonnaise, add sandwich puree from avocado, hummus or tapenade.
- Mix the bean curd (tofu) with spicy sauce, black beans and a small amount of cheese.
- Prepare yourself a frozen yogurt, instead of buying ice cream in the store.
Milk
Cow milk and all dairy products - including butter, buttermilk, cheese, cream cheese, cream, a mixture of milk and cream, ice cream, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding and sour cream. In addition, many (but not all) people who are allergic to cow's milk are also sensitive to proteins found in goat and sheep's milk.
Hidden sources
Delicatessen meats, hot dogs, vegetable burgers, fruit ice cream, canned tuna, chocolate, non-dairy cream, bread and biscuits sold in stores, seasonings to salads and mayonnaise.
Delicious substitutes
- Replace cow's milk with rice, soy or almond.
- Add soy yogurt to fruit drinks.
- Prepare pesto sauce without adding cheese.
- Prepare cookies using unhydrated margarine, soy / rice milk and chocolate chips that do not contain milk.
A fish
Different types of fish, such as tuna, salmon, catfish, etc. Experts often warn people who are allergic to fish from eating shellfish and other marine products because of the risks of cross contamination.
Hidden sources
Condiments for Caesar salad (many of them contain anchovies pasta), Wurchester sauce, fish sauce, eggplant snack, artificial crab meat (surimi).
Delicious substitutes
- Instead of a piece of smoked salmon, spread a bag of cream cheese, olives and dried tomatoes on the bagel.
- Instead of tuna, can chicken the chicken.

Forest nuts
Walnut, almonds, cashews, pistachios, pecan nuts, Brazil nut, hazelnuts, chestnut, macadamia nut, pine nuts, etc. Experts often advise people who are allergic to hazelnuts to also avoid peanuts.
Hidden sources
Cereals, chocolate, sweets, marzipans, nougat, mortadella (Bologna sausage), pesto and some natural and artificial aromatic additives (read the information on the packaging of goods).
Delicious substitutes
- Prepare muesli according to your own recipe without adding nuts. You can use your favorite flakes, raisins and banana chips.
- Try to add whole grain bread rolls that resemble a crunchy structure of nuts.

Shellfish
Shrimps, crabs, lobsters, crayfish, etc. Experts often warn people who are allergic to shellfish from eating fish and other marine products because of the risks of cross contamination.

Fish products, condiments (any natural or artificial seasonings may contain fish by-products).
Delicious substitutes
- Instead of crab cake, try to cook risotto cake.
- Prepare a festive paella, using a variety of types of meat and vegetables instead of shellfish.
Wheat
Pastes, cereals, bread and bran based on wheat; wheat germs, wheat kernels, semolina (type of wheat used to make pasta), bulgur (boiled and dried wheat groats) and wheat gluten.
Hidden sources
Ice cream, broth cubes, potato chips, delicacy meats, soy sauce, a variety of snacks that have been processed (there are too many to list all), breadcrumbs, couscous, spelled and hot dogs.
Delicious substitutes
- Experiment with different pastes, including corn pastes
- Make tortillas (tortillas) from corn, and not wheat flour.
- Use rice noodles to cook Asian dishes.
Soybean
Soy milk, bean curd, tempeh, green soybeans, soy protein isolate, soybeans, soy sauce, soy nuts, structural vegetable protein (soybean structure), miso.
Hidden sources
Tuna, delicacy meats, vegetable broth, vegetable starch, structural vegetable protein, cereals, infant formulas, sauces, soups and various vegetarian products.
Delicious substitutes
- Prepare by rapid frying and constant stirring a dish with the addition of sejtan (wheat gluten) or chicken, as well as vegetables, ginger and garlic (do not add soy sauce!)
- Try adding to the curry panel (Indian homemade cheese).
- Add in the grains of vitaminized rice milk.
