And now you are pregnant. From this very day on, for your own health and that of your future baby, you absolutely must take in a sufficient amount of nutrients. In particular, vitamins. But which ones? This is what our information is about.
What vitamins does a pregnant woman need?
The most important thing for a future mother is not to have a deficiency in vitamins A, B, C. In particular, from the B vitamins - these are B1 and B6, which reduce the risk of fetal developmental defects. It is especially important that these microelements enter the body of the future mother during breastfeeding.
Then the child will not have a deficiency in the substances necessary for a small, fragile organism and will develop normally.
Research: Vitamins and Pregnancy
Scientists who conducted long-term studies in Europe, North America and Israel found that mothers of children who were diagnosed with a tendency to brain tumors significantly reduced the risk of developing these tumors by taking vitamins during all months of pregnancy. Scientists also claim that mothers who take multivitamins as prescribed by a doctor 3 months before pregnancy and for six months during pregnancy reduce the risk of heart and vascular diseases in their babies by 2 times.
It should be noted that, according to studies conducted in Boston, such a beneficial effect was not observed when taking vitamins from the 2nd month of pregnancy.
B vitamins taken by pregnant women dramatically reduce the risk of skin diseases. In particular, cleft lip and cleft palate. It is also a good preventative measure against abnormal development of the genitourinary organs.
Vitamin E (tocopherol) and pregnancy
A very useful vitamin for pregnant women. It helps to conceive and bear a child, thanks to it the risk of premature delivery of the fetus is significantly reduced. Research shows that when a woman's body lacks vitamin E, the fetus risks abnormal development with pathologies and even death.
If a woman's body lacks tocopherol during pregnancy, she often suffers from toxicosis, especially in the last months of pregnancy.
Excess vitamin E causes the risk of improper functioning of internal organs, in particular, increases the density of the placenta, where the child is located. It is important to correctly calculate the dose of this vitamin.
It is no more than 1 IU per day for a pregnant woman. Do not confuse IU with mg - according to international pharmacological standards, 1 IU of vitamin E is equal to a biological equivalent of 1 to 2-3 mg per day (depending on the type of vitamin E, i.e. tocopherol)
Consult your doctor for a prescription
It is better not to diagnose yourself or prescribe vitamins, especially during pregnancy. The fact is that an excess of vitamins leads to improper functioning of internal organs, increased fatigue, deterioration of vision, and disturbances in the functioning of the nervous system.
For example, vitamin A (retinol) in large doses can provoke developmental abnormalities in the unborn child while still in the mother's womb. It should be taken no more than 2 mg per day.
When a mother has more vitamin C than necessary, kidney disease may occur. Remember: if you force yourself with increased doses of vitamin C, the child's body does not accept such doses and the level of this vitamin in the baby's blood decreases. This threatens him with incorrect and uneven development.
The average daily dose of vitamin C during pregnancy is no more than 60-75 mg.
Your task is to consult with your doctor about what vitamins you should take for your well-being during pregnancy. And strictly adhere to their doses. Then you will correct the shortcomings in the functioning of the body and establish a constant supply of nutrients to the child.
Get pregnant and bear a child without pathologies. Vitamins will always help with this.
