Prebiotics are food ingredients that stimulate the growth and activity of healthy microflora in the digestive system, but are not absorbed by the intestine. Prebiotic properties include inulin, fructose-oligosaccharides, lactulose, galacto-oligosaccharides, lactitol. These microelements are found in many natural foods.
Consider products containing prebiotics in large quantities:
- Chicory root raw 64.6%
- Jerusalem artichoke 31.5%
- Dandelion greens 24.3%
- Garlic 17,5%
- Fresh onions 8.6%
- Cooked onions 5%
- Asparagus 5%
- Wheat bran rough 5%
- Wheat flour 4.8%
- Banana 1%
In a small amount of useful trace elements are in products such as:
- Fruits: apples, pears, citrus fruits, apricots, plums.
- Vegetables: soybeans, asparagus, cabbage, garlic, corn.
- Dairy and sour milk products: cottage cheese, milk, kefir, fermented baked milk.
- Berries: blackberries, raspberries, strawberries.
- Nuts: walnut, peanuts, almonds, pistachios.
- Cereals: buckwheat, oatmeal, pyshenka, semolina.
According to its chemical structure, all prebiotics are complex carbohydrates with a branched chemical formula. They easily enter into a reaction with various substances, establish the process of digestion and provoke the growth of useful microflora in the intestine.
Fermented milk products containing prebiotics
Most of the beneficial bacteria are found in fermented milk products. Prebiotics are in milk, kefir, cottage cheese, sour cream, ryazhenka, various yoghurts. Their main benefit is based on the method of preparation. For example, kefir or yogurt is obtained after the beneficial bacteria have got into fresh milk. After this, the ripening process begins, which is aimed at reducing free lactose. This makes milk proteins easily digestible. The nutritional value of kefir, yogurt and cottage cheese is much higher than fresh milk. Lactose, which is contained in them, facilitates the process of digestion, does not cause gravity and flatulence, which is often the case after a glass of fresh milk.
In addition to prebiotics, fermented milk products contain a high-grade protein. This substance has a full set of amino acids, contributes to tissue repair. They also contain healthy fats. The fat content can be adjusted by purchasing products of reduced fat content.
Fermented milk products containing prebiotics not only heal the intestinal microflora, but also remove pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms. They are useful for various diseases of the digestive tract, after food poisoning, with gravity in the stomach and increased gas production. Another useful property of fermented milk products is a mild laxative and diuretic effect. Such food is considered purifying and is a part of many diets, including medicinal ones.
Dietary fibers with prebiotics
An important component of vegetable food products, which is not digested by enzymes of the gastrointestinal tract, are dietary fibers with prebiotics. They favorably affect the general condition of the body, prevent various diseases and act as part of dietary therapy. The most popular fibers are fiber and pectin, they are complex carbohydrates, which consist of polysaccharide chains. They are water-soluble and have high hygroscopicity, are able to bind a large amount of water, swelling and increasing 50 times. This increases the intestinal peristalsis and increases the frequency and volume of the stool.
There are two types of dietary fiber:
- Insoluble - this is cellulose and lignin. They swell in the water, increasing the mass and frequency of the stool, prevent constipation, inflammation of the intestine, hemorrhoids.
- Soluble - swell in water and form a glue-like gel. The obtained substance consists of non-cellulose carbohydrates, pectins, polysaccharides and hemicellulose.
Dietary fibers maintain the normal state of the digestive tract, cleanse it, reducing the risk of colon cancer. They promote the growth of friendly intestinal microflora, especially Lactobacillus and Bifidobacter.
Prebiotic with raspberries
A delicious and healthy drink from Florina is a prebiotic with raspberries. The dry mix contains insulated soy protein, inulin, pectin, wheat fiber, guar gum, dried fruit concentrate, fructose. The product is produced in special bags of 150 g each.
The drink has the following properties:
- Promotes mechanical cleansing of the intestine
- Stimulates motor skills
- Removes toxins from the body
- Normalizes the microflora
- Slows down the absorption of fats and carbohydrates
- Reduces cholesterol in the blood
- Improves digestibility of vitamins
- Prevents dysbiosis
- Reduces appetite and promotes weight loss
Prebiotic take 2 times a day for 1 glass in the morning before meals and in the evening before bedtime. After 2 weeks of regular use in the body, the amount of bifidobacteria increases and remains at a high level with the further application of a crimson drink.
Prebiotics based on yeast fungi
Useful trace elements for the microflora of the intestine are represented by different substances. Prebiotics based on yeast fungi are used both for the treatment of humans and animals.
- Eubicor is a popular biologically active additive for humans, which includes yeast of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae class of saccharomycetes. The yeast enters the body in an inactivated state, but after awakening it is saturated with vitamins, amino acids, micro and macro elements. This increases the overall immunity and produces resistance to viruses, bacteria and other pathogens.
- Actisaf is a preparation for animals. Its active substance is live thermostable yeast strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae Sc 47. The active ingredient has a special enzymatic activity, raises the pH level and reduces the acidity of the gastric juice, improves the gastrointestinal motility and digestion process, replenishes the energy deficit.
Curd dessert with prebiotics
The most useful and light snack, which is suitable for both adults and children, is a curd dessert with prebiotics. Cottage cheese is a sour-milk product, rich in useful bacteria, protein and calcium salts. It has no cellular and tissue structure, which distinguishes it from other sources of prebiotics and animal protein. Its flakes are quickly absorbed and can not be digested.
Among the most popular curd desserts, we can distinguish the following:
- Ehrmann - dessert dessert "Prebiotic" 3,5%.
- Biomax is a dairy dessert with curd cream with strawberries and muesli enriched with prebiotics, with a mass fraction of fat of 2.8%.
- Danone - bio-yogurt Activia "Bran and cereals" 2.9%.
- Agusha - cottage cheese with prebiotics 4.2%.
Cottage cheese and desserts based on it are recommended for use in diseases of the digestive tract and during a diet. Since it is rich in vitamins, minerals, folic acid, it is well absorbed, strengthens microflora and satiates.
