Inflammation of the pancreas or pancreatitis is a disease accompanied by periodic exacerbations, which are provoked by inappropriate nutrition for such a diagnosis. The function of this organ is to produce enzymes necessary for processing food in the duodenum. With pancreatitis, they do not enter there, but are activated in the gland itself, damaging its own tissues. The manifestations of the pathology are very painful and unpleasant, so it is best for the patient to know the effect of various products on the condition of the pancreas.

Recommended products for pancreatitis

A patient with pancreatitis needs to focus on therapeutic diet No. 5, which prescribes a dietary method of preparing meals, thermal and chemical sparing of the organ, fractional but frequent meals, exclusion from the menu of spicy, sour, smoked, fried, alcohol - products that stimulate the synthesis of pancreatic juice.

What foods are good for pancreatitis and what can you eat? The list of the most necessary ones may be as follows:

  • bakery products - not perfectly fresh wheat bread (preferably yesterday's baked goods), homemade croutons;
  • meat products – chicken, rabbit, veal, turkey (boiled);
  • fish – low-fat varieties (pike perch, pike, cod, hake, pollock, saithe), steamed or boiled;
  • eggs – 1-2 per week (steamed omelette);
  • cereals – buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, pearl barley, semolina;
  • fermented milk and dairy products – low-fat cottage cheese, kefir, fermented baked milk, yogurt without fillers and flavors, milk only for adding to food;
  • vegetables – carrots, beets, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini;
  • fats – vegetable and butter (add to cooked dishes);
  • fruits – bananas, baked low-fat apples, pears;
  • drinks – dried fruit compote, rosehip infusion, weak tea;
  • first courses – prepared in secondary meat broth.

Prohibited and harmful products for pancreatitis

Harmful products that can cause harm during pancreatitis include:

  • fatty meats and fish;
  • ducks and geese;
  • sausages;
  • whole milk;
  • fresh rye bread;
  • mushrooms;
  • millet groats;
  • legumes;
  • vegetables: white cabbage, radish, horseradish;
  • onion, garlic, sorrel;
  • rich broths;
  • coffee, carbonated drinks, strong tea.

Smoking, pickling and marinating, fruit juices, alcohol, especially wine, champagne, soda, chocolate, cakes and pastries, frying food in any oil, and eating hot or cold dishes are absolutely prohibited.

Products for acute pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis causes very painful attacks in the upper abdomen, often girdle pain, nausea, vomiting, severe weakness, stool with undigested food residues. This is a life-threatening condition, it requires immediate response and fasting for the first two days, cold on the pancreas area, rest.

From the third day, a limited range of products is introduced into the menu:

  • mashed boiled vegetables;
  • slimy soups;
  • steamed egg white omelette;
  • casseroles;
  • baked apples, pears.

All meals should be eaten warm, small portions at a time, eating 5-6 times a day. This scheme is maintained for 5-7 days, and then they switch to diet No. 5.

Products for chronic pancreatitis

Chronic pancreatitis does not require such a strict diet, and, nevertheless, it is necessary to develop certain rules regarding nutrition and make them your way of life, because you can also create real culinary masterpieces from healthy products. The main thing is to limit carbohydrates and fats.

It is even easier for a housewife in the kitchen not to watch for foam near the pan to collect it, but to drain the first broth. Boiled meat is used as a second course, vegetables are more convenient, tasty and faster to bake than to fry in a frying pan.

You need to avoid sour, unripe vegetables and fruits, because in fact, ripe ones are much tastier.

Products for pancreatitis and cholecystitis

Cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder) and pancreatitis are inextricably linked, since the organs that have undergone the pathological process are located nearby, and their functions are similar - the entry into the duodenum and the processing of food.

In many ways, nutrition for these diagnoses does not contradict each other: restrictions on fatty foods, dietary preparation of meals, avoidance of foods that stimulate digestive enzymes and bile, fractional meals.

When "interests" diverge, you need to exclude a product or dish that is not suitable for the other organ. An example would be legumes - good for the gallbladder, bad for the gland, or even low-fat ice cream - the pancreas does not like the cold.

Products for exacerbation of pancreatitis

Periods with more subtle manifestations of pancreatic disease alternate periodically with exacerbations provoked by errors in diet. At this time, you should switch to a stricter diet, mash food, monitor its temperature, give preference to boiled and baked vegetables, drink warm mineral water without gas 30-90 minutes before eating (Narzan, Essentuki No. 4, 17). Eat small portions, but often. In general, focus on the recommendations regarding acute pancreatitis.

Products for pancreatitis and gastritis

Gastritis is a general term for inflammatory and dystrophic changes in the gastric mucosa. There are various classifications of this pathology, including depending on acidity, localization, duration of the disease and other factors. Most often, chronic gastritis with increased acidity (hyperacid) is a companion of pancreatitis.

The task of nutrition in both cases is not to provoke excessive secretion of pancreatic and gastric juice. In many ways, the nutrition coincides, but there are also some contradictions. Thus, with this form of gastritis, it is useful to drink fatty milk, but fermented milk products are undesirable. With inflammation of the pancreas, everything is the opposite and a compromise is important here.

Protein products for pancreatitis

Preference for pancreatitis should be given to protein products, but food with coarse fiber is bad for the organ. Therefore, vegetable protein should be of a soft structure, it is advisable to remove the skin from permitted vegetables and fruits, consume them in a heat-treated form. Animal is obtained from dietary meats.

Products that provoke pancreatitis (cabbage, radish, tomatoes in large quantities, grapes, pomegranate, and from meat products pork, fatty beef) should be excluded even during a period of stable remission.
