Diverticulosis, as a rule, develops in people who do not pay enough attention to proper nutrition: the disease arises from excessive consumption of refined foods along with a small number of plant products. In advanced cases, the only method of treatment is surgical intervention. However, at the initial stages of the development of pathology, a diet with diverticulosis is successfully used - often a properly selected diet greatly facilitates the life of patients.
The essence of diet with diverticulosis
The essence of the diet with uncomplicated diverticulosis is to increase the consumption of fibrous food to prevent further progression of the disease. The patient should eat fully and in a balanced manner, taking into account the following features:
- increase the number of products in the menu with food fibers. As sources of fiber, bran and sprouted grains added to the main food, as well as sea kale, will serve. With good tolerance, we add any vegetable products. Also, do not forget to drink more liquid to ensure the swelling of the fiber and move it along the digestive tract;
- we limit the food that causes increased gas production - these are legumes, cabbage, fresh milk, some vegetables and fruits with a rough structure. It is difficult to define a specific product, it is necessary to focus on the individual reaction of the patient to a particular product. Often unacceptable products are also seeds, seeds and nuts;
- with constipation, we focus on the use of dried fruits and sour-milk products, as well as on compliance with the drinking regime with a sufficient amount of clean water;
- we switch to food with the use of a large amount of fibrous food gradually, carefully watching the reaction of the digestive system. If at first there is soreness and bloating, then it is not necessary to worry: such phenomena will pass in a few days after changes in diet.
Therapeutic diet 5 for diverticulosis
Treatment table number 5, or diet 5, is specifically designed to support the digestive system in diseases of the liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, intestines. Nutrition according to this diet implies the selection of certain foods, with the appropriate temperature and frequency of food intake. Compliance with the diet allows you to facilitate the flow of fat and cholesterol metabolism, stimulate the release of bile and normalize the function of the gastrointestinal tract.
Restrictions in the diet relate mainly to fatty foods (due to refractory fats). The content of carbohydrates and proteins remains the same. From the menu exclude products with oxalic acid, essential oils, oxidized fats. Approximate daily intake of carbohydrates - 50 g, fat - 70 g (mainly vegetable), proteins - 100 g. The daily caloric intake of the diet is 2500-2800 kcal.
Particular attention is paid to increasing the total amount of pectin, lipotropics, liquid and natural dietary fiber.
Frequency of food intake for diverticulosis - about 5-6 meals per day. Products are recommended to use boiled, baked, stewed, steamed. Food during cooking is thoroughly crushed or wiped. Do not eat too hot or too cold food.
Diet with exacerbation of diverticulosis
During acute diverticulosis, or during exacerbation of the chronic form of the disease, the features of dietary nutrition should depend on the symptomatology and severity of the disease. The diet can differ, beginning with the restriction of the use of certain foods (for example, the appointment of easily digestible food, which is usually used with significant symptoms of exacerbation) to ensure absolute rest of the intestine - fasting with parenteral nutrition.
After elimination of acute signs and stabilization of the patient's condition, changes in nutrition should be directed to normalization of intestinal peristalsis and defecation. The diet should be enriched with fiber and coarse fiber, while controlling the digestive process and not allowing increased gas production. To do this, vegetable and fruit dishes should be prepared chopped, removing coarse skin, and eat often, but little by little. In the first week of exacerbation of diverticulosis, as well as several days after arresting the acute process, plant products are consumed only by heat treatment - raw vegetables and fruits in this period are best avoided.

What can you eat with diverticulosis?
In order to successfully cure diverticulosis or prevent an exacerbation of this disease, it is important to normalize intestinal peristalsis. This can be achieved by enriching the diet with a sufficient amount of fiber and liquid (mainly in the form of pure water).
- An integral part of the daily diet should be made bran. They can be purchased in its pure form - in health food stores, in organic products, etc. Also there are pharmaceutical supplements with bran: for example, "Siberian fiber", etc. Bran and additives should be mixed with kefir or other sour-milk products.
- All kinds of vegetables that do not provoke an increase in gassing in the intestine. First of all, these are stewed vegetables: carrots, beets, zucchini and eggplant, potatoes, pumpkin, tomatoes, sweet potato, celery, etc.
- Fruits should be selected with individual tolerance. As a rule, apples, citrus fruits, avocados, bananas, melons, kiwis, etc., are well transferred by the digestive system.
- Cereals and cereals - especially good buckwheat, rice, oats, barley.
- Berries: strawberries, blueberries, strawberries, as well as cherries, cherries.
- Freshly sour milk products of small and medium fat content: yogurt, kefir, fermented baked milk, cottage cheese, etc.
- Freshly prepared juices (vegetable and fruit). With increased gas generation, they should be diluted halfway with water.
In general, all products for consumption need to be selected individually. It is important that the food consumed does not cause flatulence, but also contributes to good intestinal peristalsis. Reviews about a diet at a diverticulosis
In most cases, a diet with diverticulosis is used concomitantly with the main therapy regimen, using drugs and other ancillary methods. Changes in nutrition can quickly eliminate the exacerbation, achieve a stable remission, normalize the function of the digestive system.
Reviews about a diet with diverticulosis make it possible to make sure of positive changes in health. In patients, overall health improves, slackness disappears, mood improves.
Of course, it will be better if the patient will adhere to such a diet all the time. However, when switching to the usual habitual food, it is important not to "lean" on forbidden food, in particular it concerns fats, smoked products, spicy foods, alcohol. If you ignore the above recommendations, then the load on the digestive organs (in particular, on the intestines and the biliary system) will necessarily provoke a relapse of the disease, and the patient will have to start re-starting treatment.
Diet in diverticulosis is by no means difficult - to comply with the patient should not have any special strong-willed qualities. So think about what's more important to you: habitual lifestyle and health problems, or some changes in diet and a healthy digestive system. Be healthy!
