There are several skin types. Accordingly, each of them needs to be cared for differently. It can be very difficult to determine the skin type at first glance. The basic structure of the skin is the same for all people, but the sebaceous glands work in different modes. It also matters how well the skin retains moisture. The skin looks good with normal sebum secretion. We grow older, and the skin type changes. However, you can maintain excellent skin condition by properly caring for it.

Skin type can be normal, dry, oily and combination. You can determine your skin type by using a paper napkin, which you need to put on your face and then look at it. If you do not see any imprint on it, then your skin is dry. A barely noticeable oily spot left on the napkin indicates normal skin type, but large oily spots indicate that you have oily skin.

  • Normal skin type

In the modern world, even among young people, it is rare to meet people with normal skin. Such skin looks fresh, elastic, soft, resilient, and touching it leaves a pleasant sensation. It has a beautiful natural shine, smoothness, no wrinkles, enlarged pores, black or white spots, pustules and red spots. Normal skin has a balanced sebum secretion, tolerates the effects of water and adverse weather conditions well, i.e. heat or cold, wind. All components, moisture and fat lubrication in normal skin are present in proportional proportions. You can take care of normal skin with the help of regular cosmetics.

True, some women believe that normal skin does not require any care. This opinion is wrong, because as we grow older, the skin loses a significant amount of sebum. If you do not take care of it, the skin's condition will inevitably worsen, it will become pale, dry, and the process of aging will begin. It will be very difficult to restore the previous normal condition.

  • Oily skin type

Oily skin is mainly typical for puberty. Many overweight people can also have this type of skin. It looks rough, dense, with large pores, which makes it look like lemon peel. The sebaceous glands in oily skin work very actively, which is why it is characterized by excessive shine. Intensive activity of the sebaceous glands can be observed in women during pregnancy, with improper functioning of the intestines. Diseases of the endocrine glands or nervous tension can also lead to pronounced oiliness of the skin. Some diseases of the internal organs cause a decrease or, conversely, an increase in sebum secretion.

Skin oiliness is often affected by our eating habits. Excessive consumption of fats, easily digestible carbohydrates, spices, smoked foods, and alcoholic beverages only increases the work of the sebaceous glands. Dairy products and plant-based products will help reduce the intensity of sebum secretion. By the way, be careful when using oily creams. Their frequent use can also make your skin oily.

People with enlarged pores know how quickly dirt accumulates in them. This can lead to inflammation and acne. In addition, this process is accompanied by itching. Most often, enlarged pores are noticeable in the forehead, chin and nose. Usually, oily skin tolerates all contacts with water, but it also happens that water procedures are contraindicated, especially with soap. Because of this, a person may mistakenly believe that he has dry skin. However, this is wrong. Oily skin must be treated, it requires constant and careful care. People with oily skin should not forget about the right choice of food.

  • Dry skin type

At a young age, a person may not notice dry skin. It retains its beauty, whiteness, elasticity. Red spots and peeling are not visible on it.

But there is also no natural shine. Dry skin is defined by a matte color. This is its main difference. Dry skin is characterized by small, narrowed pores. It quickly forms folds and wrinkles, is prone to peeling and tightens after washing. The water-fat metabolism in such skin is disturbed, sebum secretion is very low. Dry skin must be taken care of accordingly, otherwise it will quickly become covered with wrinkles, will suffer from peeling and red spots.

Skin can also become dry if it is not cared for properly. Dry skin occurs in old age, with diseases of the nervous system or heart. Often the cause of increased dry skin is poor nutrition, as well as frequent contact with water and soap, especially if you go outside immediately after. With improper care, the sensitivity of dry skin to the ambient temperature increases greatly. Then even ordinary cosmetics cause irritation.

  • Combination skin type

Many people have combination skin. This means that the sebaceous glands work differently in different areas of the skin: in some areas, sebum secretion is normal, while in others, it is excessively intense or, conversely, reduced. Therefore, the skin is normal in some places, and oily or dry in others.

The most oily areas are usually the nose, forehead and chin. Dry skin is found on the skin of the cheeks, lower eyelids and temples. Often, peeling skin flakes can be seen on the cheeks. People between the ages of 20 and 35 are the owners of combination skin. At an older age, the sebum secretion process decreases, and areas with oily skin become dry. Only the nose area retains an oily shine for a long time.

Combination skin type requires the same, combined, care. When using a cream in the morning that does not contain oily components, you need to watch what areas you apply it to. Apply it with light movements to the bridge and tip of the nose, the protruding part of the forehead and chin, cheekbones and cheeks.
