The method consists in transplanting androgen-resistant hair from the lateral and occipital areas of the head to areas of hair thinning or alopecia. Each implant (graft) contains from 1 to 5 hair bulbs (follicles). The number of transplanted grafts depends on the location and size of the site to be reconstructed and the desired thickness of hair. For one procedure transplant from 20 to 1600 grafts, the duration of the procedure is 4-10 hours. Hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The purpose of the procedure is to return the patient's natural appearance to the patient. The best results can be achieved with carefully planned and carefully performed transplantation of micro-grafts (1-2 hair follicles) placed on the border of the hairline, and mini-grafts (3-5 hair follicles) placed in the hair follicle itself, which together recreates a natural line of growth and the desired density of hair. The transplanted hair does not differ in appearance from those not transplanted, they are not rejected because they are not alien. Immediately after the procedure, the patient does not need any frightening dressings, or camouflage patches. Shampoo can be used after a day. On the operating field, small crusts are formed, tearing off after 7-10 days. On the 2-3rd day after implantation, there may be a small swelling in the forehead that disappears for a few days; Microcurrent or laser therapy is recommended to accelerate the resolution of edema. Noticeable growth of new hair begins 3-4 months after the procedure and will continue throughout the life of the patient.
Despite the brilliant immediate results of surgical correction of baldness, it is necessary to continue the use of medications that prevent the loss of androgen-sensitive hair preserved in the fronto-parietal area.
Hair transplantation is also successfully used to correct cicatrical hair loss of the scalp, which has developed after a skin trauma or as a result of a number of transferred skin diseases (lupus erythematosus, atrophic forms of red lichen, etc.).
Of undoubted interest is the pronounced cosmetic effect of eyebrow transplantation; However, one can not but notice a significant drawback of this procedure - the hair transplanted from the occipital region, grow long and the formed eyebrows need a constant haircut.
