Each person has an individual body structure, and there are often cases when dissatisfaction with one or another part of the body arises. Especially often you can hear complaints from women about the unattractive shape or small size of their breasts.

Since ancient times, large breasts in women have been associated with motherhood and the ability to feed a large number of children, today, large breasts are considered the standard of female beauty and many girls want to make their forms more lush in order to attract more admirers.

Today, even push-up bras can enlarge your breasts, but only plastic surgery – mammoplasty – can make your breasts truly beautiful and more voluminous.

Breast augmentation surgeries are usually performed by women whose breasts are naturally small or asymmetrical, after breastfeeding, when the breasts lose their appearance, become smaller, sag, etc.

Breast augmentation occurs through the use of an implant placed in the mammary gland.

All implants used are made of silicone plastic. When foreign tissue appears in the body, the process of scarring (formation of connective tissue) begins, which has long been a problem for plastic surgeons. The scar after the operation thickened over time, causing the breast to become hard and unnatural in appearance.

The first such operations had a number of disadvantages, in particular, silicone implants could leak, which led to the formation of connective tissue, hardening and changes in the shape of the breast.

Over time, surgeons began to place implants deeper - under the pectoral muscle, which significantly reduced the percentage of breast hardening (in 80% of cases, the breast remained soft and natural in appearance). But despite this, the risk of hardening remains and requires additional time and effort for treatment.

A silicone implant can be smooth or textured; several years ago, experts found that textured implants significantly reduce the risk of breast hardening.

It is filled with silicone gel, hydrogel filler or saline solution, and the implant can also consist of two shells - an internal one with silicone gel, an external one with saline solution.

Today, experts are developing other types of fillers. For example, one expert has suggested using soybean oil or polysaccharides to fill breast implants. However, before such implants become available, several years of clinical trials and proof of safety for the human body are needed.

It is worth noting that such operations, like any others, have contraindications.

In particular, implants are not suitable for women who are allergic to silicone, as the consequences in this case can be very sad.

Also, mammoplasty is not performed in cases of mental illness, inflammation of the mammary glands, skin, diabetes, or a tendency to keloid or hypertrophic scars.

In addition, taking anticoagulants requires additional examination of the patient before surgery.

If you decide to have mammoplasty, you cannot hide any health problems from your doctor, since this operation is quite serious and requires an individual approach.

Indications

Breast augmentation surgery is indicated mainly for women with small breasts, which often leads to discomfort, dissatisfaction with oneself, and psychological problems.

Experts also recommend this operation for women after injuries and operations on the mammary glands (for example, after tumor removal).

Also, many women after pregnancy, breastfeeding or significant weight loss note that their breasts have significantly changed shape, become smaller or sagged. This problem also leads to psychological problems, the woman begins to feel embarrassed about her body, intimate problems may begin, and cases of severe depression are not uncommon. In this case, mammoplasty also comes to the aid of the woman.

Methodology of implementation

During mammoplasty, incisions are made through which the surgeon inserts the implants; the operation is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the structure of the woman's body, the doctor in each individual case determines the location of the silicone prostheses - under the pectoral muscle or mammary gland.

The location of the incision is also determined individually - when performing breast augmentation and breast lift at the same time, the area under the breast in the fold is incised, the incision around the areola leaves virtually no traces on the body.

Breast augmentation surgery is also possible using the patient's own fat, when fat extracted from the woman's body (from the abdomen, thighs, etc.) is injected into the mammary glands. This breast augmentation technique is rarely used today and is at an experimental stage, however, it has great potential.

Breast augmentation without surgery

Breast augmentation surgery can increase breast size by several sizes, while non-surgical augmentation methods can only help to slightly enlarge the breasts or make them firmer.

The most common means of non-surgical breast enlargement is considered to be taking hormones, for example, a side effect of taking oral contraceptives is breast enlargement, which for women is a positive moment, in addition to unwanted pregnancy. In addition, experts assure that taking hormonal drugs in general has a positive effect on women's health.

One of the disadvantages of this method is that it is not long-lasting, since after stopping taking hormones, the breasts gradually regain their original appearance.

It is also worth noting that incorrectly selected hormones can cause serious harm to health, so before starting to take them, you need to consult a gynecologist or mammologist, and undergo an examination if necessary.

Taking hormones can also lead to weight gain, it is worth noting that each extra kilogram increases the breast by 20g, and accordingly, during weight loss, with each kilogram lost, the breast loses 20g.

Nutrition plays a significant role in our lives, our health depends on its quality. There are also "grandmother's" tips, according to which cabbage, yeast, hop cones, etc. will help make your breasts bigger. However, all this is just a myth and has no practical confirmation. In addition, yeast and hops can disrupt a woman's hormonal balance, which will lead to health problems.

According to experts, food products have virtually no effect on the volume of mammary glands; legumes, grains, walnuts, and honey will help to slightly increase breast size.

Turmeric is very popular among southern beauties; it should be eaten 3 times a day and washed down with milk.

Also, many women note that eating chicken or fish with lemon juice helps make the breasts firmer and slightly increase their volume.

The safest method of non-surgical breast enlargement (without the risk of gaining excess weight or disrupting hormonal balance) is considered to be breast massage, which improves blood flow and tones the muscles.

During the massage, you can use special herbal compositions, oils, balms. Many women after a course of massage note that their breasts have really increased and become more elastic and beautiful.

But in any case, massage has a positive effect not only on the shape and elasticity of the breast, but also on the skin.

Exercises for the pectoral muscles help to slightly increase the breasts, but in addition, such exercises make the bust elastic and beautiful.

Among such exercises, we can note push-ups, lifting dumbbells (1 kg each), squeezing arms bent at the elbows (palm to palm).

Breast enlargement with the help of special underwear is a widespread method among women. Push-up bras, however, it is worth noting that such bras are contraindicated for daily wear, as they disrupt blood circulation in the mammary glands.

Breast augmentation surgery is considered the most effective way to achieve the desired size and shape of the breast. It is worth approaching such an operation responsibly, consulting with specialists (mammologist, gynecologist, plastic surgeon), undergoing a full examination.

If there are contraindications to such an operation, it is best to abandon this idea and not take risks, because your own health is much more important than the shape of your breasts.

Complications after breast augmentation surgery

Breast augmentation surgery is a rather serious intervention in a woman's body, after which some complications are possible. First of all, it is worth noting the possibility of breast hardening. Modern plastic surgery is at a high level and hardening develops only in 3% of cases, but it still takes place and requires additional surgical treatment.

Also, mammoplasty can lead to:

  • to a decrease in the sensitivity of the nipples, areola (usually this complication is observed if the incision was made in the areola area and the fine mesh of tactile nerve endings was stretched during the manufacture of the pocket for inserting the implant)
  • purulent wounds around the implant (usually occurs due to negligence on the part of medical workers – the operation requires the administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics, washing the chest cavity with antiseptic agents during the operation), seroma (the risk of infection exists during any operation)
  • accumulation of serous fluid (develops if the surgeon has created a cavity for the implant that is too large or drainage is impaired; in this case, the patient’s postoperative compliance with the regimen is important – moderate physical activity, wearing a special bra, etc.)
  • hematomas (may occur if blood clotting parameters were not taken into account)
  • tissue necrosis (usually occurs after infectious diseases, taking steroids, smoking, radio-, chemo- or cold therapy).
