Sugaring (from the English word sugar) is a pretty and “sweet” word for a rather cruel hair removal procedure. Sugar hair removal has been known since the time of Nefertiti, and then Cleopatra. In fact, it was with the Egyptian queen that the evolution of sugaring, as well as many other magnificent cosmetic procedures, began. Obviously, Cleopatra was a woman of no small spirit, ready to endure pain for the sake of beauty.

The sugar procedure, like other hair removal methods, has its pros and cons, which include the following:

Advantages, pluses

Flaws

Availability, no contraindications

It takes a lot of time, both for the preparation of the composition and for the process itself (small areas are processed in stages)

No microtraumas, cuts

It is very difficult to select the composition and consistency of an effective sugar mixture, so preliminary tests are carried out on small areas of skin.

The procedure is carried out along the hair growth line, so there is no risk of ingrown hairs.

The procedure is painful, even if you prepare for it.

The sugar mixture can remove even the most invisible, small hairs.

Sugaring is not suitable for very long and thick hair, as well as very short hair (less than 3 millimeters)

The paste contains only natural ingredients, so sugar hair removal has virtually no contraindications.

Relative contraindication – diabetes. Although there are no statistics on complications after sugaring, diabetics should not take risks.

How to perform hair removal with sugar?

  1. Let's prepare the "sweet" paste:
  • 8-10 tablespoons of sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon water.
  • Lemon juice – you need to squeeze half of a fresh, juicy lemon.
  • Mix everything, heat on very low heat, stirring constantly. The mixture should acquire a light-brown golden hue.
  • Cool the mixture until it becomes viscous and can be touched with your fingers (the mixture should not stick to your hand).
  1. Before preparing the mixture, you need to prepare the skin, it must be clean and dry.
  2. The sugar mixture is applied to the skin in the direction of hair growth. The procedure is carried out using a small wooden spatula (narrow blade) on small areas of skin and is repeated over the entire area of unwanted hair growth in stages.
  3. Place cotton fabric (strips) on top of the mixture, pressing it against the body.
  4. The mixture remains on the skin for literally 1-2 minutes, then the fabric is torn off sharply parallel to the skin, against the hair growth. If you separate the fabric diagonally, starting from the edge, you can get small hematomas on the skin. It is best to tear off the sugar mixture with a sharp upward movement, grabbing both ends of the fabric strip.
  5. After removing hair with sugar, it is enough to take a bath or shower, the remains of the sweet mixture are very easy to wash off.
  6. The procedure can be repeated after 3-4 weeks, as a rule, hair begins to grow only after 20-25 days.
