Masks with aloe juice are a great way to keep your facial skin toned. The fleshy leaves of this plant contain a lot of juice: this is not only moisture that it stores “in reserve” in case of a long drought, but also a concentrate of life-supporting substances.

Unfortunately, our skin is not able to retain moisture as well. But we can use the beneficial properties of this plant and make homemade masks with aloe, which will help the skin to be healthy and stay young longer.

Benefits of Aloe Vera for Skin

You may ask, what is the benefit of aloe for the skin? In the combination of substances that determine the features of its biochemical properties and their synergism. The gelatinous juice of the aloe contains 98.5% water, in which more than 150 nutritional components are dissolved. Moreover, the beneficial substances of the juice of this amazing plant can penetrate deep into the skin due to the presence of lignins - polymers of plant cell membranes.

The properties of some chemical components are still unknown, however, according to the European Pharmacopoeia, ten main ones have been established with absolute certainty: amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, minerals and microelements (potassium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium), vitamins (C, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and provitamin A), lignins, mono- and polysaccharides, salicylic acid, saponins and phytosterols.

Amino acids are the main "building material" of proteins, including collagen and elastin. Aloe juice contains several essential amino acids (isoleucine, tryptophan, leucine, lysine, methionine, valine, threonine, phenylalanine), which help in the regeneration of the epidermis, and also stimulate the endogenous synthesis of collagen and elastin in the basal layers of the dermis.

Phenolic compounds of aloe leaf juice – anthraquinones – activate cellular immunity, so aloe juice can be used to treat purulent wounds and skin rashes prone to suppuration.

Enzymes (amylase, catalase, alkaline phosphatase and bradykinase) and antioxidant vitamins stimulate metabolic processes at the cellular level. They reduce the intensity of oxidative processes in skin cells, slowing down their aging.

Polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) of aloe - primarily acemannan - have antibacterial and antifungal properties, improve cellular metabolism, help get rid of acne (pimples) and promote skin hydration and regeneration of damaged epithelial cells. In addition, acemannan protects the skin from the harmful effects of the UV spectrum of solar radiation.

Aloe contains salicylic acid, the antibacterial properties of which are well known to everyone. Phytosterols in the plant (campesterol, lupeol and β-sitosterol) are also anti-inflammatory antiseptics.

Aloe saponins – soapy to the touch nitrogen-free glycosides – are surfactants of plant origin. Thanks to their presence, masks with aloe juice cleanse the skin well, improving the supply of oxygen to the cells.

Aloe Vera Face Mask Recipes

How to make an aloe mask? First, you need to properly prepare the leaves: cut off the bottom ones, wash, dry, wrap in cling film and put in the bottom of the refrigerator (not in the freezer!) for 10 days. This is done so that the juice in the leaves becomes more active - due to biological stimulation of chemicals.

After this time, the necessary product is obtained and, having squeezed the juice from a piece of leaf, you can carry out health-improving cosmetic procedures at home using the following recipes for aloe face masks. It should be borne in mind that the prepared mixtures for masks cannot be stored, and each time it is necessary to make a fresh composition.

Aloe Vera Mask for Wrinkles

It is suitable for dry and normal skin: for a teaspoon of aloe juice take half a teaspoon of castor oil or wheat germ oil, half a raw egg yolk and a teaspoon of oatmeal. The thoroughly mixed mass is applied to clean skin along massage lines in 2-3 layers. Keep, as usual - 20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water, followed by rinsing the face with cold water or cooled green tea. The mask is done twice a week, in the warm season - once.

Rejuvenating mask with aloe

The second option is a rejuvenating mask with aloe, yolk and sour cream. The proportions are the same as in the previous recipe. This composition is used if the skin is normal or closer to dry.

But for oily skin, it is better to use beaten raw egg white (two tablespoons), aloe juice (one teaspoon) and grated fresh cucumber (one tablespoon).

The third option: an aloe mask for wrinkles based on agar-agar, sodium alginate, pectin or regular food gelatin. It is easier and cheaper to use gelatin: pour a teaspoon of powdered gelatin into 50 ml of cold water and let it swell, then heat it in a water bath until completely dissolved. Mix a tablespoon of aloe juice, a teaspoon of oatmeal and 3-4 drops of grape seed or geranium essential oil with the gelatin mass. When the gruel cools to 37-38 ° C, apply it to the face (except the eye area) for half an hour. The hardened layer is easily removed with a cotton swab or cosmetic disc moistened with warm water. Such masks are done once a week for 1-1.5 months.

Mask with honey and aloe

A mask with honey and aloe (in proportions of 2:1, for example, a dessert spoon of honey and a teaspoon of aloe) is considered universal, that is, it simultaneously nourishes and moisturizes the skin and is suitable for any skin type. The only warning: you should definitely know that bee products do not cause allergies in you. Such a mask can be enriched with a few drops of lemon juice (if there are pigment spots) or half a teaspoon of olive oil if the skin is prone to peeling.

Aloe Vera Mask for Acne

To reduce acne on the face, an aloe mask for acne is useful, which is recommended to be done 2-3 times a week. Grind a teaspoon of dry chamomile flowers in a coffee grinder and steam the resulting powder with a small amount of boiling water. When the mass has cooled and is slightly warm, you need to add a teaspoon of aloe juice or the same amount of leaf pulp ground in a blender. To enhance the effect, you can add three drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil. Apply the mask to the entire face, and directly to the acne - twice. Keep it until the mask dries (about 30 minutes).

For oily skin and a tendency to acne, it is good to use pure aloe juice, applying it to areas with rashes for 25-30 days. In addition, such procedures help with excessive facial sweating due to narrowing of pores.

Masks with aloe juice for rosacea

If there are areas with dilated capillaries (rosacea) on the face, then masks with aloe juice will definitely help. It is enough to squeeze out the juice and apply it to the problem areas. But this should be done every day - in the morning or in the evening. You can not squeeze out the juice, but simply cut a piece of the leaf and wipe the rosacea areas and the entire face with the cut. Cosmetologists advise to lightly beat the healing juice into the skin, lightly tapping with fingertips, and then use your usual nourishing cream.

Aloe Eye Mask

Aloe eye masks will help smooth out fine wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes.

Option one: take a teaspoon of aloe juice and avocado pulp (crushed to a smooth puree) and 10 drops of olive oil. Apply the mask for 10-15 minutes and remove with warm green tea or sage infusion.

The second option: take a teaspoon of aloe juice and potato starch, as well as 5 drops of one of the essential oils - almond, apricot kernel, rosehip, rose, jojoba, neroli.

Many reviews of aloe masks convince us that aloe cleanses, softens and tones the skin on the face. The sensations after such simple procedures are very pleasant, and your own reflection in the mirror improves your mood.
