People have accumulated a huge amount of experience in skin care over their centuries-old history, and world-class cosmetic companies often use folk recipes in their products. Unfortunately, this costs a lot of money and is not available to everyone. What can be used for oily skin at home?
- Oatmeal is an indispensable product for scrubs due to the fact that it is rich in fatty acids, vitamins E, group B, biotin, zinc, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, amino acids. To give the flakes a convenient form for use, you need to add any liquid ingredient useful for the skin (cucumber or carrot juice, rosehip oil, olive oil, low-fat warm milk), let the oatmeal absorb the liquid and soak, apply with massage movements to the cleansed face.
- Honey is unique in its medicinal properties, thanks to its composition, listing them means naming half the periodic table and many vitamins. Honey for oily skin is not used in its pure form, most often it is used as masks in combination with other components, for example, with lemon juice, green cold tea brewing or calendula and aloe juice.
- Kefir is a universal product for the care of any type of face. Masks made from it whiten, cleanse, and moisturize the skin. It contains protein, calcium, lacto- and bifidobacteria, which are so useful and nutritious for the skin. For oily skin, more sour kefir is suitable. It can be combined with rye bread, lemon juice, crushed oatmeal, rice flour, herbal extracts or decoctions suitable for combating blackheads, acne, and inflammation.
- Yolk - concentrated in itself a storehouse of useful substances for skin nutrition: fatty polyunsaturated acids, choline, biotin, niacin, vitamins. Masks with it will remove swelling, make the skin more toned and younger. Nourish the outer epidermis, fine wrinkles are smoothed out, the skin is healed, rashes and inflammation disappear. In tandem with other components, its effect only intensifies: with honey the skin is softened, with olive oil it is rejuvenated, with lemon juice it is toned and whitened, with yogurt it is nourished, with clay it is cleansed
- Ice - contrasting temperatures activate metabolic processes, have a good effect on skin tone. Alternating short wiping of the face with an ice cube and washing with warm water will only improve the condition of oily skin, refresh it, remove oily shine. Such a procedure in the morning will allow you to look fresh and toned all day. You need to freeze mineral or purified water, and use only the top layers of ice, throw away the rest. It is best to use ice with the addition of decoctions of medicinal herbs: chamomile, oak bark, sage.
- Lemon is a natural antibiotic and immunostimulant, as well as an excellent whitening, exfoliating, cleansing agent. Oily skin will benefit from simply wiping with a lemon slice. It is “friendly” with many ingredients used in masks, scrubs, creams, so it is often present in their composition. The downside of lemon is its allergenicity, like many citrus fruits, there are no other restrictions.
- Herbs - I have already mentioned many different herbs that have been used in the care of oily skin. Grouped by the direction of their action, we can summarize:
- affect the functioning of the sebaceous glands: coltsfoot, oak, linden, burdock, birch;
- relieve inflammation: St. John's wort, succession, lavender, coltsfoot, chamomile;
- moisturize: oregano, thyme;
- cleanse: nettle, rowan;
- whiten: parsley, dandelion.
The following plants deserve special attention when caring for oily skin:
- calendula - irreplaceable for various rashes on the face, allergies. It soothes the skin, relieves inflammation, irritation, moisturizes the skin, cleanses it, eliminates excess oiliness. Such qualities are due to the presence of many essential oils and microelements. It can be used in such cosmetics as lotion, ice, mask;
- Aloe is an unsightly and unpretentious houseplant that has a lot of medicinal properties that can be successfully used to eliminate problems with oily skin without the slightest material costs. More than 200 useful components in properly prepared recipes will come to the aid of the owner of acne, oily shine, inflammation and peeling. Medicinal properties have plants that are more than 3 years old. Before cutting the leaves, you need to stop watering for 10 days, then wash them, dry them and put them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for a week. Juice is obtained by chopping them and squeezing through cheesecloth. It is used to make lotions, tonics, masks.
Oils for oily skin
It would seem that oils for oily skin are a paradox, but degreased skin gives a start to more intensive synthesis of sebum, so correctly selected oils reduce the activity of the sebaceous glands. A distinction is made between base and essential oils. Base oils are used to dissolve active substances from which cosmetics are prepared, they are also simply applied to the skin after cleansing and using a toner for the purpose of moisturizing, nourishing and protecting. Correct use of oil involves conducting an allergy test. To do this, you first need to lubricate a small area of skin with one type and observe the reaction. The absence of redness and peeling indicates that you can prepare mixtures from proven ingredients.
Essential oils
Essential oils are highly concentrated oils. They are obtained from plant materials, and the name "essential" is due to their volatility. They are insoluble in water, but dissolve in organic compounds: fats, alcohols. Essential oils are not used in their pure form, as they can cause a burn. Suitable for oily skin and used in the production of cosmetics, at home, are:
- olive - numerous vitamins, fatty amino acids, microelements are well absorbed into the skin, do not clog pores, promote cell regeneration. It is one of the few that can be used in pure form. Before applying to the face, it should be slightly warmed up. It is well suited for cleansing from decorative cosmetics. The remaining fat is removed after a quarter of an hour with a paper napkin or cotton pad. After this, you need to wash with cool water;
- coconut - contains lauric, stearic and other useful fatty acids, as well as vitamins A, B6, B9, PP, which have a beneficial effect on skin cells. Used with ready-made facial care products, it effectively protects cells from heat and maintains their water balance. Its bactericidal and antiseptic properties are known, preventing acne, relieving irritation and inflammation;
- grape seed oil is one of the most popular in cosmetology. In addition to many useful vitamins and microelements, it contains vitamin E and linoleic acid, which give the skin elasticity, flexibility, and youth. For problem skin with acne and pimples, this oil is an effective anti-inflammatory agent;
- Shea is the name of a tree that grows in Africa. The oil from its nuts is successfully used for cosmetic purposes, as it is an important source of vitamins A, F and E for the skin. When applied, it penetrates deep into the layers of the skin, killing bacteria, relieving inflammation, softening comedones and opening pores to remove harmful contents. Unrefined oil is suitable for home use. Before going to bed, after cleansing the skin with lotion or gel, apply it to the face or problem areas and leave overnight;
- tea tree oil is a real remedy in cosmetology. It controls the production of sebum by the glands, slows down the aging process of the skin, makes it silky, gives a fresh look, healthy color, eliminates minor damage and age spots, fights rashes, acne. When used, tea tree oil is mixed with other components and is not used in concentrated form. The mixture is applied along the massage lines for 15-20 minutes, then washed off with water;
- almond - this oil is obtained from almond nuts, it has a high content of vitamin E, due to which it has an antioxidant effect. In addition, it moisturizes and nourishes the skin well, regulates the sebaceous glands;
- jojoba is a liquid wax obtained by cold pressing the nuts of a shrub growing in North America. Thanks to the amino acids in the protein, it resists inflammation, acne, oily shine, and everything that accompanies oily and problematic skin. A few drops are used to prepare the mixture;
- peach - a hypoallergenic product containing phosphorus, potassium, calcium, iron, amino acids, vitamins. Moisturizes, prevents aging processes, relieves inflammation. Effective in cleansing, nutrition, moisturizing. A few drops of oil warmed in your hands are suitable for masks, creams or removing makeup;
- flaxseed - in addition to many useful elements, it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which are not synthesized by the body. It is famous not only for its healing effect, but also for its tightening and smoothing effect. It can be used directly on the face or mixed with several components, added to creams;
- apricot - has all the necessary elements that ensure the vital activity of epidermal cells. Prevents the expansion of pores, preventing pathogenic microbes from entering them, increases skin elasticity, improves tone and color. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agent;
- Sesame - rich in B vitamins, vitamins A, E, minerals. This explains its wide application in cosmetology. It can be used to remove makeup from the face and even from the eyelids, used in masks, creams, for facial massage. It helps remove toxins, nourishes and moisturizes the skin, smoothes wrinkles.
Decoctions and extracts for oily skin
From all the herbs that can help with oily skin, decoctions are prepared to cleanse it. The average proportion is a tablespoon of herbs or mixtures of several herbs per glass of boiling water. It is best to use a thermos to prepare the decoction. Using another container, cover with a lid and let it brew until cool. The liquid can be frozen into cubes or wiped with it in the morning and evening on the face with a cotton pad. There is no need to add vodka or other alcohol-containing components, because they dry the skin, thereby stimulating additional fat synthesis.
For oily skin
Plant extracts are widely used in cosmetology, including for oily skin. They are called "phytocosmetics" and have gained popularity due to their natural basis. Extracts, extracts, phytohormones, preservatives, aromatic fragrances of medicinal herbs are used in the production of such cosmetics. They effectively moisturize, nourish the skin, give cosmetic products a subtle plant aroma, prevent the proliferation of bacteria and fungi. Extracts are also used to prepare homemade cosmetics. Which of them are suitable for oily skin? Extracts of elderberry, calendula, hawthorn, St. John's wort, horsetail disinfect the skin; chamomile, rose hips, sage relieve inflammation; strawberries, melons remove keratinized layers of the epidermis and moisturize; mint improves blood circulation; aloe improves skin tone. This is not a complete list of extracts successfully used for skin care.

Soda
Soda is successfully used in cosmetology for preparing scrubs and masks.
The abrasiveness of this substance, sodium, carbon, oxygen and hydrogen in its composition allow it to penetrate deep into the pores and clean them. To smooth out the effect of the solid consistency on the skin, softening components are added: egg, flour, honey, yogurt. Before applying to the face, soda is diluted in a small amount of purified or mineral water without gas and the necessary ingredient is introduced. The following options are possible: to enhance cleaning - salt, to relieve inflammation - flour or hydrogen peroxide, nutrition - oatmeal, rejuvenation - honey or orange juice. The prepared mass is rubbed into cleansed and steamed skin with light movements (scrub) or left for 10 minutes as a mask, then washed off. The procedure should not be carried out more often than once a week.
Glycerol
Glycerin is a chemical element used to make cosmetics, mainly for delicate and sensitive skin. It speeds up metabolism in the upper layers of the skin, intensively moisturizes it. It is not used in its pure form. Since it can be used in combination with other elements, and oily skin also requires moisturizing, then glycerin mixed with water for oily skin is also suitable in combination with, for example, gelatin, clay, egg. These can be lotions, tonics, scrubs, masks.
Mumiyo
Mumiyo is a mountain resin rich in organic and inorganic substances. Along with medicine, it is also widely used in cosmetology. Its effectiveness lies in cleansing the skin of the face from toxins and slags, increasing its regeneration and collagen production, and antibacterial action. In order not to bother with dissolving mumiyo, you can buy it at the pharmacy in tablets or resin extract in liquid form. By diluting it with boiled water, milk, combining it with any components suitable for oily skin (egg, lemon juice, herbal decoction, honey, plant oils, a ready-made product), you can prepare a scrub, mask, or wipes. The use of mumiyo should not be one-time, but carried out in courses lasting 10 days. Masks are applied once a week.
Green tea
Green tea is a weakly fermented tea, so it retains most of what nature has put into this plant: iodine, iron, copper, zinc, calcium, theine, vitamins A, C, and group B. It is a recognized powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals, and therefore guards youth and beauty. With the help of tea leaves, you can wipe your skin daily, even cleanse it of cosmetics, use more concentrated tea to target pimples and acne, freeze it, wipe it with ice to improve facial tone, and use it to make masks.
Hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide for oily skin is used as an antiseptic and bleaching agent. Such qualities are due to the fact that when it gets on the skin, peroxide breaks down into oxygen and water, i.e. an oxidation reaction occurs, which has a detrimental effect on diseased cells, however, as well as on healthy ones. Therefore, the drug should be used with great caution, using only solutions. Masks with hydrogen peroxide are applied no more than 1-2 times a week using a few drops of a weak 3% solution in combination with other components, you can also add to the toner (5 drops per 50 ml). To combat acne, the solution is applied pointwise to problem areas. After about five minutes, it is washed off with water and a new layer is applied, and so on several times.
Soaps for oily skin
There are enough cosmetics on sale designed for facial cleansing, so it is best to use them. If someone prefers soap (usually men do not want to bother with various procedures), then preference should be given to soap for oily skin without alkali. You can buy both solid and liquid, but be sure to have natural ingredients, glycerin, face cream. Now homemade soap on a natural basis with the addition of all the necessary individual ingredients is very popular. The entire technology of its preparation can be found on the Internet.
- Tar soap
The name of the soap itself contains its main component - tar, which is a well-known antiseptic. It also contains fatty acid salts that improve blood flow and oxygen supply to skin cells. Using tar soap on oily skin helps fight acne, comedones, inflammation and other problems. Its action is similar to a peeling procedure, it narrows pores, normalizes the sebaceous glands. There is no need to rub the skin with a bar. It is enough to wet it, rub your palms with it, and then make light circular movements with your hands on your face. A more gentle option is to add soap foam to kaolin or beaten egg. However, its daily use can dry out the skin, and tar is also allergenic, so it is best to use it in periodic sessions.
Clay for oily skin
Some types of clay are successfully used in cosmetology due to their mineral composition, which has a beneficial effect on cellular processes. One of them is black clay. Masks made from it dry out oily skin, suppress inflammation, cleanse the skin of comedones, improve blood circulation, produce a lifting effect, thereby rejuvenating the face. White clay is similar in effect. Koalin in its composition has a therapeutic effect: it fights fungi and bacteria, removes impurities, promotes the production of collagen, which is necessary for skin elasticity, relieves pain in the presence of inflamed acne, and whitens. Clay masks for oily skin are very easy to prepare and use, as mentioned above. We will add that clay powder can be bought at a pharmacy. It is diluted with slightly warm water immediately before applying to the face. You can add any ingredient that is beneficial for the skin (herbal infusions, dairy products, honey, oatmeal, aloe juice, etc.) to this composition. Keep the mask for no more than 20 minutes, then rinse with water and apply cream. By resorting to this inexpensive and effective procedure once a week, every woman will feel and appreciate the result.
