It is widely believed that removing unwanted body hair is a purely female problem. But as practice shows, in our time this cosmetic procedure is of concern to both sexes. Smooth healthy skin is today the standard of beauty for both women and men. Now in fashion is a clean-shaven face as opposed to a beard, a torso that amazes the eye with pumped up muscles, and not with its "hairiness".

Ways to Get Rid of Unwanted Body Hair in Men

There are two main ways to get rid of unwanted hair on the body. The first is temporary removal of unwanted hair or depilation. The essence of this way is that the bulbs of the removed hair remain in the human body, and then the vegetation grows back. A temporary effect is achieved by shaving, hair removal with an epilator, wax or cream.

When the hair follicle is removed along with the hair shaft, the hair will not grow back in the future. This is hair removal of unwanted hair. There are three methods - electrolysis, photoepilation, laser hair removal of unwanted hair.

Similar services are provided by salons that have a special medical license, as well as specialized clinics.

Electrolysis of unwanted body hair for men

This method requires hair of a certain length, and the client must also stock up on angelic patience. Using an electrode, the hair follicle is "drenched" with a current discharge from a special needle. Then the hair is removed with tweezers.

Electrolysis makes it possible to remove gray and very light hair, as well as get rid of individual hairs in the ears and nose. This cannot be achieved using light methods.

The electroepilation method cannot be used in case of inflammatory skin diseases or the presence of metal implants.

Electrolysis is possible only on small areas of skin, if a couple of dozen hairs are to be removed. When it is more than a hundred hairs, then the procedure will stretch for months and years. Another very important point is the qualification of the cosmetologist who supervises the epilation process. The fact is that he has to work at random: it is necessary to reach the hair follicle with the help of an electric discharge. This is also a rather painful method, therefore, local anesthesia is used during electrolysis, especially in the groin area. The skin is damaged, so after this method of removing unwanted hair, a crust may remain.

Removing unwanted body hair with photoepilation

There is laser hair removal and photoepilation. They differ in the light spectrum. Photoepilation allows for the removal of lighter hair (dark blond, black, etc.), while laser is great for dark hair, and works great on naturally dark skin tones.

The dark pigment absorbs a certain spectrum of light, causing the hair to heat up and break down. In addition, the lighter surface (skin) reflects this light. The removal of unwanted hair occurs because the hair shaft conducts light to the bulb and breaks it down. Therefore, the hair never grows back. However, the maximum effect is achieved only when the hairs are actively growing and are in this stage. Usually, there are about 15-20% of such hairs on the body. The hairs that are dormant at the time of the procedure have to be treated at the next session in a month or two, when they start growing again. This is why several sessions are usually carried out.

The advantage of this method is that it is the most delicate - a person feels only the thermal effect. When laser removing unwanted hair, the flash affects an area of about twenty millimeters. The entire back or chest area can be treated at one time. An additional bonus is that the skin is rejuvenated during this procedure, and at the same time, you can get rid of pigment spots and freckles.

Contraindications to photoepilation may include the presence of photodermatosis in the patient, as well as inflammatory skin diseases.

If a person has gray and light hair, this method will not have an effect. If the procedure is performed on a dark-skinned or tanned person, a micro-burn of the skin may occur. In this case, photoepilation is also not recommended.

Removing unwanted hair in men with wax

The waxing method involves applying liquid wax and a fabric strip to the area to be waxed, which is then torn off after the substance dries. Waxing of unwanted hair is done in beauty salons, and is very painful. It is used in the eyebrow area, between the eyebrows, ears, neck, hands, and forearms. There are daredevils who use this method of hair removal in the groin area, but if you are doing this procedure for the first time, try it in some other area first, so you know what to expect.

The disadvantage of this method is that the effect lasts no more than a month. Then the hair grows back.

Removing unwanted hair in men with depilatory creams

You can fight unwanted hair on your body with depilatory creams. The fact is that they contain special chemical components that destroy the hair structure and contribute to its loss.

Depilatory creams are used in the back, chest, arms and legs. It is better not to use them for depilation in the groin area and around the eyebrows, as the skin in this area is very delicate and sensitive.

The effect after using depilatory cream lasts for several weeks, then the procedure needs to be repeated again. Its disadvantage is the irritation that can appear on the skin from chemical components. Therefore, dermatologists recommend trying the cream on a small area of skin first to see its reaction. But if one product does not suit you, this is not a reason to completely abandon this method - for different products, manufacturers use different active ingredients, so you can try creams from different brands.

Removing unwanted body hair for men using an epilator

To remove unwanted body hair at home, men also use a device such as an epilator. This method is inexpensive and can be done at home, the effect lasts for several weeks. Its disadvantage is pain. Because, for example, when wax is used, hair is captured in a small area and torn off with one jerk. In the case of an epilator, hairs are torn out almost one by one, so this process is drawn out and painful.

Hair removal for men in hard to reach places

For men, such a question as getting rid of unwanted hair in the nose and ears is relevant. Epilation cannot solve this problem, you can only resort to various options for depilation. The modern cosmetology industry has come up with ways to get rid of such hair. For example, many men use a special round razor. With its help, you can shave hair without damaging the skin. Tweezers are also used for such purposes. The disadvantage of this method is pain, but the effect lasts for several weeks.

In addition, today many men reject the stereotype that only women can correct their eyebrows and also remove excess hair in this area.

Unfortunately, there are no ideal hair removal methods today. Every method has its pros and cons, if we talk about epilation, then you won’t be able to remove all the hair in one go, you’ll have to do several sessions and you need to be prepared for that.

Reasons for Removing Unwanted Hair in Men

The first and for many the main reason for removing unwanted hair in men is irritation that appears after shaving in particularly sensitive areas. Most often it occurs in the collar area on the neck, also many men suffer from cuts and ingrown hairs. Therefore, many men do not shave every day, leaving stubble for several days. But this is not always possible, and also gives a somewhat stale look, in addition, "prickliness" is not particularly liked by their lovers.

There is a category of men who get rid of unwanted body hair due to professional needs. Many sports imply a beautiful and smooth body, this is especially true for bodybuilding, swimming, and some types of martial arts. The emphasis in such sports is on muscle definition, so increased “shagginess” and “hairiness” are, to put it mildly, not welcomed.

Clean shaving is a guarantee that a man looks respectable, dignified and dignified. Stubble makes a man look unkempt, cuts on the skin are also not suitable for, for example, a businessman. In special circumstances, for example, a busy work schedule, business trips, etc., it is not always possible to devote time to shaving or there are no appropriate conditions.

There is a common misconception that hair on the human body is necessary, since it is there from birth. This is far from true. Animal hair - wool - has its purpose and protects the skin from low temperatures and ultraviolet radiation. In our modern world, such functions are performed by clothing and sunscreens. Another false "argument" in favor of unwanted body hair in men is the prevention of friction (the armpits are most often cited as an example). But both children who do not yet have hair, and women who have been removing vegetation from this area for a very long time, do not have problems with friction. Therefore, the absurdity of such assumptions is obvious.

There are now many varieties and methods of removing unwanted hair on the body of men and women. Let's consider the main ones.
