British experts in the new study found that a person's mental state improves if he uses fresh fruits and vegetables daily. To such conclusions, scientists came after they studied the dietary preferences of more than 80 thousand people. Fruits have a positive effect on mental well-being, if consumed at least seven servings per day (one serving of 80gr of fruit).
At present, the inhabitants of Great Britain practically do not consume fruits or vegetables or consume them in small quantities (only one fourth of the population includes them in their daily diet). Only 10% of British eat the necessary amount of fruit every day and even more. Scientists did not differentiate between fruit and vegetable species.
The authors of the new project were themselves amazed at the strong potential of fruits and vegetables, and all the data had statistical confirmation. But experts do not intend to stop there, they also plan to determine how exactly the use of fresh fruits and vegetables affects the state of the mental state, i.e. Enhances the mood of a person and makes him happier.
Most Western experts in the field of dietology recommend that everyone without exception eat more fruits and vegetables (at least 400 grams) in order to protect against cancer and strengthen the cardiovascular system.
It is worth recalling that recently Japanese scientists conducted an analysis of dietary habits and according to the results obtained concluded that daily consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables reduces the number of suicides. Scientists from Tokyo analyzed information about food preferences of about one hundred thousand people gathered over nine years and concluded that people who daily include their diet of fresh fruits and vegetables are less likely to commit suicide than those who consume fruits in small doses ( or do not consume them at all). Scientists studied food preferences of representatives of both sexes, with different levels of prosperity, the average age of participants was around 50 years. Specialists found that in the group of volunteers who ate fruit every day, the risk of suicide was reduced by half. At the same time, in a group where fats and sweets were consumed more, experts revealed a greater propensity to suicides among the participants. This project once again confirms that it is necessary to reduce or completely abandon the use of harmful products and include in your diet more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Experts have not yet managed to establish the exact cause of this relationship between fruit consumption and the mental state of a person, but they still have several explanations. As one of the assumptions, the experts put forward the theory that suicidal tendencies may be associated with chronic diseases that are less likely to develop in people who include more fresh fruits and vegetables in their diet. Also, fruits contain a sufficient number of antidepressants, which helps a person to cope with a stressful state more quickly.
