Indian spice turmeric prevents the development of diabetes

Supplements with curcumin, found in turmeric, may prevent the development of diabetes in risk groups, according to Thai scientists led by Solmak Chungsamarn.
Experts have proven that daily intake of curcumin for nine months prevented the development of diabetes in people with a borderline condition (high sugar, threatening to develop into full-blown type 2 diabetes).
A total of 240 people with borderline diabetes took part in the experiment. After a certain period of time, 19 of the 116 people on the placebo developed diabetes. But among the 119 who took curcumin, the disease was not recorded.
