Representatives of the American Medical Association have finally come to the conclusion that a disease such as obesity requires treatment in any case. Until now, obesity had not been officially recognized as a disease, but was considered just a feature of the human body. Considering that more than thirty percent of the US population suffers from excess weight, we can consider that there is an obesity epidemic in the country.

The association's workers are developing new methods to combat obesity in order to prevent the growth of the number of patients. Statistics show that the number of people with excess weight is growing every year, and these are not only adults, many American children are obese before the age of 10.

Obesity was officially recognized as a disease after analysts from the American Medical Association reported that today about a third of the adult population of the United States and more than 17% of children under 15 suffer from excess weight. At first glance, excess weight is not a problem and does not cause any particular inconvenience, but with each passing day, obesity has a negative impact on the functioning of all internal organs and on overall health. The data obtained forced representatives of the association to take a different look at obesity and declare it a disease, the treatment of which may require medical intervention.

Representatives of the association are confident that this change will primarily change the attitude of medical workers towards people with excess weight. Indeed, after obesity was declared an officially recognized disease, any doctor has the right to draw attention to the fact that many health problems can be provoked by excess weight. Doctors claim that more than fifty percent of people who suffer from excess weight do not seek medical help only because they are not sure that the doctor will be able to suggest a possible solution to the problem and advise.

Such behavior of people suffering from obesity led to the fact that attempts to get rid of excess weight were not always successful. After obesity was recognized as a dangerous disease, the number of complaints about excess weight will increase significantly among therapists, the association's workers believe.

Companies that provide health insurance will be required to pay for surgery, consultations with physicians and intensive therapy sessions for all people who are obese and want to get rid of the disease.

According to the association's representatives, this change will be able to reduce the number of people who are obese. The opportunity to receive qualified medical care will increase the number of people who will seek advice from nutritionists and therapists. The amount of money received by medical clinics will also increase.

Nutritionists hope that the ability to control your weight not only independently, but also under the supervision of a doctor, will help reduce not only the number of obese people, but also reduce the number of people with anorexia, bulimia and other problems related to nutrition and weight.
