A 70-year-old resident of California, USA, decided to rejuvenate herself and for this purpose turned to a very expensive, fashionable and new procedure – facial rejuvenation with stem cell injections. Being of a respectable age, the lady was amazed by the effect of the newfangled procedure, but soon a more unexpected and not so pleasant surprise awaited her.
Stem cells are used for a variety of purposes – they are used to treat cancer and in the field of cosmetology.
Research by scientists speaks of the possible danger of using stem cells. Specialists warn that the consequences of their introduction can be disastrous. The fact is that stem cells have the ability to transform into differentiated cells of various organs and tissues - liver, bone marrow or skin.
Scientists did not have to confirm their fears experimentally, because that same seventy-year-old American woman did it for them, who decided to indulge herself with a rejuvenation procedure using stem cell injections.
The woman went to a clinic where she was told about the miraculous effect of stem cell injections, which are injected under the skin of the face to smooth out wrinkles. The elderly lady was very interested in the procedure and did not regret even $20,000, just to be young and beautiful again.

After the stem cells were injected, the woman couldn't get enough of the result and was very pleased. However, the euphoria of a second youth didn't last long - only three months. And then the worst thing began. At first, the woman began to notice that she could hardly open her right eye, but soon every morning and waking up from sleep became a real nightmare and sheer torture - her eyes opened and closed with difficulty, and blinking was accompanied by painful sensations, but the most amazing thing was that the movements of the eyelids produced clicking sounds.
The concerned lady turned to doctors with this problem. After listening to the woman's story, the doctors did not believe her at first, and decided that the seventy-year-old grandmother had imagined God knows what. And during the story about clicking eyelids, "similar to the sound of small castanets," the doctors began to think about possible mental problems.
But how amazed and stunned they were after they removed the crumbled bone fragments from the grandmother's eyelid tissue. The operation lasted more than seven hours and all the bone remains were removed, but no one can guarantee that the bones will not start growing again.
As it turned out later, calcium hypochlorite was used as a filler - a mineral that influenced the fact that the stem cells subsequently turned not into young skin, but into bones.
Such procedures are in demand and are being performed more and more frequently in the United States. They are performed without approval from the Food and Drug Administration and are therefore not tested beforehand.
Despite the great potential of procedures using stem cells, their effects have not been fully studied, and this story is a striking example of this.
