The research center of the St. Luke Cardiology Institute found that the main cause of the development of type 2 diabetes is the consumption of food, as well as drinks, which contain fructose. It is because of this, according to experts, recently a high incidence of diabetes mellitus of the second type.

Currently, about one in ten adults on the planet suffers from this disease. Over the past almost thirty years, the number of patients with type 2 diabetes has doubled. In the 1980s, about 150 million people suffered from diabetes mellitus, in 2008 - about 350 million people.

In the course of their work, experts evaluated the results of other animal studies and experiments, as well as human participation. According to the latest study, the replacement of glucose for fructose leads to negative consequences.

The greatest danger, according to scientists, is fructose in table sugar and corn syrup (this sweetener is popular in the food industry). At the same time fructose in natural products, i.e. Fruits, vegetables, does not lead to such severe consequences. As noted by the scientist, the presence in the diet of fruits and vegetables helps prevent the development of many diseases, including diabetes and other metabolic disorders.

Experts recommend eating more natural food, and restricting foods with fructose.

In another study, experts found that the consumption of fructose affects the human psyche. Frequent consumption of fructose increases the risk of depression, anxiety.

Fructose is a sweet substance used in the manufacture of various foods and beverages, and it is also found in fruits and vegetables.

It has already been proven that the consumption of fructose causes cancer, type 2 diabetes mellitus, impaired cognitive function of the brain in old age, and cardiovascular disease.

At the University of Emory, experts have revealed another feature of fructose - consumption in high doses leads to a change in the brain's response to stress, making a person more sensitive to it. Especially for such changes are children of adolescence. An acute reaction to stress leads to an increase in blood pressure, increases the likelihood of a heart attack, stroke, reduces the immune defenses of the body, in addition, there is a rapid aging process.

Specialists studied the effect of fructose on two groups of rats. The first was fed with ordinary foods, and the second - food with a lot of fructose. After two and a half months, the experimental animals were stressed (some animals were thrown into the water, some were placed in a cascade labyrinth).

As a result, the scientists concluded that in young rats that received a large amount of fructose, the response to stress was different, in their body produced a large amount of cortisol (a stress hormone) in comparison with adults. Also, young rats were depressed and anxious.
