Adolescent health depends on many factors, such as age, gender differences, place of residence, social conditions and the financial condition of the family.

The challenge is, despite all these differences, to help adolescents become healthy adults.

This is described in a recent study prepared by the WHO European Office and presented in Edinburgh.

The results of sociological surveys conducted in 39 countries of the European Union and North America showed, for example, that obesity and obesity in 11-year-old girls in Portugal and the United States are 20 percent and 30 percent, respectively, while in the Switzerland - only 5 percent.

So, in Norway and Portugal only 10 percent of teenagers at the age of 15 years smoke, and in Austria and Latvia - 25 percent.

Another risk factor for the development of diseases is alcohol consumption. It was found that in Armenia, 15-year-old boys who experienced a state of intoxication are 5 times more likely than girls of the corresponding age. And in England to hot drinks more girls gravitate - the same as to sex.

On average, according to the report, sexual relations have 25 percent of 15-year-olds.

It was not a surprise conclusion that in better-off families children get better nutrition, there is a higher degree of physical activity, better relationships with parents and classmates.

However, with regard to smoking and alcohol, the impact of the family was less significant than that of peers.

A new study provides political figures and specialists with information that will provide a chance for the younger generation to protect their own health.
