Scientists from the University of Texas have discovered what humanity has long suspected. Men choose silly women as sexual partners, but they don't want to marry them.
When a man wants to quickly find a girlfriend, questions about her kindness or intelligence are not even considered. He needs a girl who looks as silly or sleepy as possible. Such girls are the easiest to get into short love affairs, as American scientists have found out.
In a paper forthcoming in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior, the Texas scientists describe how they investigated the so-called social vulnerability hypothesis, which is based on the different attitudes men and women have toward reproduction.
According to researchers, in the distant past, women tried to take a risk and have sex with men who showed no interest in them and did not want to have children with them. Men, however, were not at all concerned about the issue of female pregnancy after casual sex, because their bodies produce 85 million sperm cells daily from each testicle.
The researchers suggested that the modern woman's brain is still as sensitive to the potential pregnancy consequences of casual sex as it once was. Therefore, they will still need to rely on emotional connection to find a casual partner. This was confirmed by the research.
How much have men changed over the centuries? A group of male students were shown a variety of photographs of women to identify those who seemed suitable as long-term partners or for a one-night stand.
It turned out that men most often chose girls with a silly or childish expression on their faces, who seemed sleepy or drunk, as casual partners. They were considered the most attractive compared to more intelligent and beautiful peers. But only for short love affairs.
As for the choice of a candidate for the role of wife, men chose outwardly intelligent, beautiful, independent and kind women.
