A group of specialists from Sweden stated that drinking coffee in large doses helps prevent breast cancer. These conclusions were made after a long (20 years) study, in which 40 thousand women took part.
The women who took part in the experiment were required to keep a food diary in which they recorded everything they drank during the day and in what quantities (for example, how many cups of coffee or tea, juice, etc.).
After analyzing the data obtained, the specialists noted that those women who liked to drink coffee and could drink more than 5 cups of this drink per day, less often developed oncological diseases, in particular, breast cancer. At the same time, the scientists noted that the more coffee was drunk per day, the lower the probability of developing oncology (5 cups per day reduced the probability of breast cancer by almost 20%). At the same time, despite the fact that caffeine is found in both coffee and tea (both black and green), tea lovers had an increased risk of developing malignant breast tumors, compared to those who did not drink either tea or coffee at all.
Currently, scientists cannot say exactly how caffeine fights cancer and why only coffee has a positive effect. Some experts have suggested that it is all about the antioxidants contained in coffee; as studies show, these substances effectively stop the process of cell damage and prevent the growth of cancerous tumors.
This is not the first time that coffee has become the focus of scientists' attention. In other studies, scientists have refuted the widespread belief that a cup of coffee in the morning helps you wake up and invigorates you. However, it is useful for older people, helps cope with depressive disorders (scientists note that coffee even helps drive away thoughts of suicide), and improves memory.
But, despite some benefits of this drink, coffee is contraindicated for people with heart or vascular diseases, in addition, excessive consumption (4-5 or more cups a day) threatens obesity of internal organs, so it is better to adhere to the principle: "Everything is good in moderation."
Also, in one of the recent studies by European scientists, it was found that coffee protects the brain from the development of malignant tumors.
The study was conducted over 8 years and involved a large number of people. All volunteers were divided into several groups, each of which had its own diet and lifestyle. After summing up the results, scientists found that drinks such as tea and coffee reduce the risk of developing brain cancer. In addition to drinks, foods also prevent the development of one or another type of cancer, for example, tomatoes protect against skin cancer, prunes, grapes, raisins - from blood cancer, broccoli and raspberries - stop the division of cancer cells.
After the research, scientists once again emphasized that nature itself takes care of human health and proper and healthy nutrition combined with an active lifestyle will help a person stay healthy and live a long life.
